"Invincible is a top tier TOOL song" and I stand by that! Reaction starts around the 2:20 mark. Also, we are super stoked that "Old Soul" by LemonTech is out on Spotify / KZbin Music / etc... it might take a few more days for Apple Music. We would love your help getting that song out to world! :)

The way I interpret this song is that the whole first part of the song is looking back at what you've done, at the battles fought and sometimes won. But as time goes on, it's harder and harder to keep it up (the heavy shield). The middle part is the march to the next battle, because it's what feels like life. Gotta keep going, can't give up. Then the final fast part is the fight itself, where it feels good to get in and do it. We feel young again, even if we aren't, and even if we might lose, because it makes an old soul feel young. If only for a moment. As I get older, I understand more and more of that idea. The battle can be anything, but we all get tired, but can't give up, because some battles need fighting, and sometimes it doesn't matter if you win, because being willing to stand up and make the point that you won't back down is the real win.

I have been a TOOL fan since i was a kid. Born in '92 I grew up on their music. Never had the money to go see them as a kid. I just went to see them in Fresno on February 12th. Probably the greatest show I've seen live. It was so good I decided to go to LA to see them again on Valentine's Day. I drove down and the seller from stubhub backed out last minute. Long story short, I got blessed and ended up with a complimentary ticket through someone who was the girlfriend of one of the guys who travels and does production for TOOL. Also ended up with a Justin Chancellor pick and half of the confetti poster. This song has since changed my life daily. This is a long comment but this experience was definitely a miracle and the universe somehow pulled it together. I always knew there was something deeper to TOOL and their music spiritually but I never knew how deep it would go in my life. .. your song is amazing by the way. Keep killing it

That's Tool, making songs about the difficulty in facing the realities of growing older instead of dragons and goblins. No wonder most metalheads don't get them. ;) Great reaction!

I knew the moment when 16:45 came that you would both be unable to keep your heads from nodding lol. It’s neat to watch that part live because they (Tool) light up the arena to a degree and if you look around at the fans you’ll see, about 90%, with their heads nodding. Male or female, it doesn’t matter. It’s neat to witness, because the 15,000+ people will be perfectly synced nodding. I consider the experience special, because I believe it unlikely I’ll witness a truer display of harmony.

You guys really nailed it with Old Soul. I listened to it before watching the rest of the video and I was blown away by how good it is. You guys managed to take what I love from bands like Pink Floyd and Tool, and apply them to your own art in a way that’s completely unique and your own thing. It felt very inviting to just let myself get into the rhythm of the song and let myself create a little miniature journey while I listened. I look forward to following and seeing what LemonTech does in the future! 😀

Loved this reaction! You guys are spot on with the breakdown of the song. I think it is about the band coming back after a 13 year hiatus and still being warriors, staying relevant, and being the best at their craft. Justin’s bass solo has that synth effect, he is a stand out on this one. When they play this live they come together then walk away during the marching drum part. Tempest will be incredible as well. Look forward to checking out more of Lemon Tech, it sounds great!

Just to add a little depth to this song, Maynard seems to know a little about American history. Ponce de Leon was a Spanish explorer/ colonizer who landed off the coast of Florida, around what is now St Augustine..circa 1514? Though most explorers were searching for gold and wealth, it was said he was searching for the Fountain of Youth.
@clintwood9472
@clintwood9472 10 ай бұрын
This is entirely mythological. The story of Ponce De Leon supposedly searching for the fountain of youth didn't appear until many years after his death. There are no references to the fountain of youth in any documents during his lifetime. It is entirely fabricated and firmly rooted in mythology. Definitely not associated with American history in any capacity.

I think it's about Adrenachrome. Tears from children is the fountain of youth. I play this song every single morning of my life. Of course I over think and over analyze all of their songs. Top 3 TOOL song in my humble opinion. And I too, think Maynard is a history buff. The only way you get as deep as this band, is to work through all the layers. Spiral Out my friend.

Which plays off of… “but the truth never got in my way before now” …since the concept of “the fountain of youth” is a myth that people don’t want to believe is false…until “now” (the point at which they realize they aren’t going to be young or live forever.) Maynard is my favorite lyricist. Ever.

Resonated with Val’s reaction today. Like ripples on the water changing direction with the wind. 🤌 Even though Maynard writes some delicious lyrics, Guess I want to put more shine on how the instruments are telling me the story alongside the lyrics in this one. Marching, heaviness. The music stops at points then gets back up. Lyrics are icing on this cake. Invincible is a question to me: Is Tool - considered by many as one of the strongest bands in their day still invincible? Do they have the fight still? Or is this it? So many parallels! Long comment. Great reaction!

In Pneuma, Adam does indeed play a synth during the breakdown. You can hear him leave the last note ringing out as he starts the intro refrain lightly and builds back up into the heaviest bit. Pneuma is my #1 fav song of all time, and as a guitarist and keyboardist, I know it very well. In a lot of other places, Danny triggers sounds on a large mallet keyboard, as others have stated, plus his 6-10 Mandala pads. That’s why he has a huge rack of gear beside him during shows.

Everytime I hear this I just hear/see Game of Thrones, battle of the bastards. Jon Snow is in his like 5th epic battle and just wants it to be over. Danny's relentless double kicks in the middle section is the Calvary, the long break is after he kills Ramsey but there's more battles to fight. You have to get back into the rhythm of fighting again because the next one is on the horizon. Just relentless building with the guitars throughout. A chef's kiss of a song.

the part of the song that sounds almost like a weird synthy guitar solo(while the actual guitar is playign the crunchy repeating rhythm) is the bass guitar using a pitch shifting "whammy" pedal to go into the range of standard guitar. with other effects like flange and chorus and delay making it sound a bit different from normal bass stuff. the part where the drums cut out and there is a synth melody is played on a synth by the drummer Danny Carey and after the last note he goes back to the drums.
