Herbert Stothart scores - THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER (1944)

Although his style of scoring is rather lightly dismissed by some critics in comparison to that of some later MGM composers and orchestrators, Hebert Stothart's (1885-1949) adaptation and scoring of the background music in THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939), much of which he actually composed, is still considered a masterpiece. It won Stothart his only Oscar.
This is only a clip of THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER (1944), containing the opening titles music and first incidental music cue of the film's score.

What a composer Stothart was.Truly cut above n par excellence! Irene Dunne was looking very beautiful.Have seen one movie with British actor Rex Harrison.Awesome.Anither movie remember composed by Stothart was Random Harvest.

I would kill to see this movie in its entirety. (well maybe not kill) but you get the point. I love this genre, Mrs Miniver, Since You Went Away. It fascinates me to see the suffering that families went through during the war and how much we complain today about our problems.
