I love the Warlord plastic kits. I just built and painted a resin WASP flame carrier and hated every second of it. Nothing quite fits, the details are obscured...I'll take plastic any day of the week. The Panther A and Puma were a joy to build, especially the suspension for the Puma
@HerbertErpaderp6 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sad I lost my video when I built the Puma. It was a fun kit to build. The suspension is nice.

You know. It didn't even occur to me until I was doing the final edit. And I was too lazy to add extra dialogue. haha. I had a little chuckle to myself and wondered if anyone else would see it.

It could perhaps be an older tank with zimmerit, just repainted in '46.

Outstanding model! Wouldn't take much to make it a jaw dropper. I've seen that decal sheet before. It looks like the one from a Collect-air kit ? If you want to do one of the kit markings let me know and I'll give you references for it. The ones with the changing knight is well documented. Color dictates the company and I think the camo was in the color of that marking. Most used large swaths of the camo color, i.e. brown knight, red brown camo. Very late vehicles covered the base color in large areas. This was because they were fighting in cities and the dark colors were better. While the streaks of yellow brown made a good scattered light effect. I just love watching you build kits. You do an excellent job my friend.
@HerbertErpaderp6 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that. I thought it was cool that there was different coloured knights and figured maybe they were just randomly coloured. That's an interesting way to tell different companies apart.
@ennisanderson27196 жыл бұрын
Herbert Erpaderp If that's the scheme you want to do then here's what you should use. The base of the gun tube (in front of the mantle) was yellow and had the vehicle number on both sides. The charging knight was actually put on the turret sides. There's a square left in the zimmerette for the knight marking.. If you want to do another then let me know and I'll give you the information.

A normandy three tone camo (dunkelgelb, green and a brownish red) would be a nice change of past from al the latr war pea dot and battle of the bulge camos!

Humblement, David.

Herbert Erpaderp you have Appeased the model gods .We are very pleased with your latest build of the king tiger tank. Although we wish you would have scratch built an MG 34 out of your bolt action German infantry kits and mount that on that king tiger tank as it probably has more detail than the one supplied with the kit reviewed. The Model Gods would like to see you paint this king tiger tank as a very late war piece together tank used in the defense of Berlin. OK thank you for the video I may just go out and buy that warlord king tiger tank!
@HerbertErpaderp6 жыл бұрын
It didn't occur to me to use an MG from the bits box. Though to be pedantic that wouldn't be scratch building. I don't have that kind of scratch building skill haha. But that's still a pretty good idea if I have a spare MG34. I might just leave it off still and just claim they're not interested in shooting from the commander's hatch that day haha.

For model building an electric drill is not necessary, and likely undesirable. A pin vise is the way to go.

@HerbertErpaderp6 жыл бұрын
I figured using a white background was better than a black one. It comes with its own challenges. I mostly did that when I build the Ark Royal because a black primed model would be super hard to see against a black backdrop.

Warlord's Zimmerit on everything German is such a disappointment in both how uniform the pattern is and in that it was only applied to vehicles for a few months. This would be a really nice kit if not for that. And the solid wheels. And the lack of ability to make both turrets. :(
@HerbertErpaderp6 жыл бұрын
I'm not really a fan of even nicely done zimmerit, but I don't have much of a probelm with it. It is a bit too perfect and neat though. If I was given the choice I'd choose it plain and zimmeritless.
@delkinthemagicaltree6 жыл бұрын
I'm really surprised that Warlord/Rubicon haven't tried something along the lines of Tamiya's stick-on zimmerit sheets. From what I recall, Rubicon are going to be producing photo-etch sheets for their kits starting from the new Panzer IV, though whether they'll include zimmerit is another thing entirely. Still, it's easier to add zimmerit than remove it!
@HerbertErpaderp6 жыл бұрын
I'd love to see some photo etch zimmerit, I would be unlikely to use it myself, but it'd be a cool choice. I've seen that they'll be including some photo etch. Rubicon are doing really good things.

Dunno what the price difference is, but I think I would have gone for the 1/48th scale Tamiya one better moulding, better looks, better scale.
@HerbertErpaderp5 жыл бұрын
Yep. a 1:48 scale tank would definitely be better to use for a game with armies that are in 1:56 scale... 🙄
@guylawrance22165 жыл бұрын
It’s been proved many times in many articles most 1/48th scale vehicles are a better visual scale match for the chunkier heroic style 28mm figures than 1/56th scale vehicles. Generally the smaller the vehicle the worse 1/56th scale looks, a lot of the jeeps, halftracks and trucks looking tiny. The actual ideal size is 1/50th scale vehicles, but the available range in this scale is limited.
