Hercules/Anastasia EPIC Disney Mashup

Alright, let's talk about the elephant in the room - IS Anastasia a Disney Princess? Is this actually a Disney Mashup and not a Crossover? Because we know Disney has acquired Fox, so where does that put films like this? Give us your thoughts and let's have a good debate below! (Keep it clean and positive... thx)

This must be a dream. My aunt’s favourite movie is Anastasia and one of my favourite songs is Go the Distance. Definitely going to send this to her to see what she thinks. As for if Anastasia can be considered a Disney character since Disney acquired Fox, I think it works. Liz Callaway (the adult singing voice for Anastasia) auditioned to provide the singing voice for multiple Disney Princesses on different occasions but of course, they went to other actresses. Plus, for anyone who didn’t know it wasn’t Disney, it sure resembles a lot of the structure in which Disney tells their stories. So I would personally think of this as a mash up.

@AJ Preclaro did you know Liz did Odette in Swan Princess? Love her, but "Journey to the Past" is hands down my favorite of hers. I think she said in an interview that when she auditioned for Anastasia she was trying to get a background part and ended up getting the lead (and I've been grateful ever since)!!!

These songs were my CHILDHOOD! I used to sing these all the time because I never felt like I had a true place in the world (Go the Distance) or that I was meant to be somewhere else (Journey to the Past). Together hearing these songs really brought tears to my eyes, in a good way, I promise! You two are amazing, incredible singers, and I of course always love seeing you bring your sweet little daughter into the videos too! She always brings a smile. I can't wait to see the next video! Tini Disney bought Fox Animation recently, so techically Anastasia is now Disney property. But since she's not Disney's original creation, she probably won't count as an official Disney Princess. Believe it or not, not all princess characters under the Disney label count as official members of the Disney Princess Line. The SuperCarlinBrothers have a few videos on the subject.

@@scottandryceejo I'm not a huge fan of the merger, esp. since Fox 2000 got killed in the process, so lots of in-development films are being cancelled...from what I've read. I feel bad for those production teams.

aznSeddie that is very true but fox 2000 and fox searchlight make almost exactly the same films and having two similar labels makes no sense when Disney already has 11 production labels as is. As far as the film cancellations most of those films found new homes at other studios and because of the cost of the merger Disney does have capital to throw 170 million dollars at mouse gaurd or to produce films that aren’t assured to make some money back for them they spent 70 billion buying fox and will have to spend atleast 10 billion to buy Comcast out of their 30% share in Hulu

This was such a good mix! I'm really glad you guys decided to step outside the Disney box and use Anastasia. The songs blend so well together it's hard to tell where it switches from one to the other. If that isn't the definition of a perfect mashup IDK what is. As far as Anastasia being a Disney Princess I certainly think she deserves the title.

Haha the whole reason we used “crossover” is because is Disney crossed over with something else - so yeah we agree. However Disney does own Fox now (the company that owned Anastasia), so it gets a little more hairy... anyway, so glad you liked it!!

This music video is soooo EPIC. I keep using that word, but it really is. I love how pairing Go the Distance with Journey to the Past gives Hercules' song a whole new feel.
