I have found over time that one of the best things HF sells are magnets. Same idea but I use magnets to hold the plate in. I think I used a 100 lb magnet, which is strong enough to hold the entire setup to my bench etc.

That was a good suggestion where to store the plate. I used STRONG MAGNETS to hold the plate in place

I got mine with the cordless Hercules saw. Got the 12ah battery to use it anywhere on my property. Mostly use it as a vertical bandsaw so I use the clamp style method to attach that plate. That way I can convert it to chop quickly. Also kept the guide on it to use it as a portable bandsaw without the frame

I found an easier way to hold the plate to the bottom of the saw. Flip the plate the way you have it. I zip tied the small slot of the plate to the bar above where the blade comes down. The tie comes nowhere near the blade. If it does, replace it. The package of 100 ties cost 1.99 at Harbor Freight. It's very easy to remove and does not accidentally fall off. The tie will hold it up from falling on someone's foot. 😅

I've actually never used mine in the chop configuration because I use it for wood as well as steel when making knives, but great to know.

Probably works ok, ithe simplest is to just a magnetic.. no drill holes bending a strap.

It’s just for metal since it’s got a metal blade in it…..I’m not sure if Milwaukee makes wood blades for these band saws

Great idea. Thanks for sharing. Does putting the plate there accumulate quite a bit of metal shavings and make it more difficult to clean them out? I’ve been using mine in the chop configuration (without the plate underneath) so all the metal shavings drop straight down to the workbench table top. And when done, I lift up the saw and easily vacuum up all the shavings. Wasn’t sure if putting the page underneath would make the cleanup more difficult?

Looks like you have to remove the bolt and the bracket to remove the plate. Perhaps use a L bracket with a swivel so that you can swing the arm away without removing the bolt.
