To think about it I think the show The 100 was heavily inspired by Xena Warrior Princess with the sci-fi and warrior aspects. Xena and Lexa are very similar both Brunette, blue eyed and tough warrior women. Gabrielle and Clarke both Blonde, blue eyed and healing women but become warriors themselves as time goes on throughout both shows.

Not really. In season 5's "Them Bones, Them Bones" Yakut from the Northern Amazons covered Alti's bones with amber in order to trap her soul. I guess that means that Alti cannot reincarnate anymore.

@@Bardim18 Because of the amber, Alti couldn't return in _Xena's_ proper lifetime anymore. She was trying to cheat her way back to life after being killed in Sin Trade when they sealed her in Them Bones. That's all "one" existence. Every other time we see her is a future life, like India or the present, or an alternate timeline like When Fates Collide. Those instances can be messed with, but her proper life in Xena's time is as the Siberian shaman and that's over for good.

I agree with everyone. This is like maybe my favorite episode and one of my favorite fight scenes of the whole show. It's so epic. Ugh. Man. It's so juicy. Great acting. All the stunts from Xena, minus the wacky comedic ones, still hold up well. Like honestly, all those CW shows could learn from the sequences on Xena. They don't make action for TV like this anymore. Just saying. But yeah, S4 as a whole is such a wonderful, emotional journey.

it was about time for this scene to be uploaded since it was long ago requested alti was the most underrated and powerful villan there is and my personal favorite, she had so many potentials if she had been writen differently, she could do whatever she wanted just by reminding her victims painful memories or losses by overloading them with unendurable emotions memories paralyzing their victims nothing can actually top that. i also hoped that she would use memories such as solon’s death how she cursed solon (considering xena and alti’s dark past) xena's deseasced brother or even better the pain she caused and all those unspeakable things she did as warlock and for gabrielle probably she could remind her the death of her lover, perdicas, one hell of a psychic power there is and thats what makes her so special and wonderfully terrifying such a shame that this show didn’t have enough supernatural element also such a meaningful message this episode has: help other and you never know when or how the universe will pay you back that was a chance for xena to be redeemed for her past sins, and the irony that xena represents sth good and pure the arminestra leader in a parallel universe regardless all the pain and suffering she’s put ppl throught the story about karmas never ending is that when gabrielle went to egypt after 6x22 she might met xena’s reincarnation, who knows 2:22 also what a beautiful message for every kind of haters everywhere

Η Καλλιστω σκοτωσε τον αντρα της Γαβριελλας, πηγε να σκοτωσει τη μανα της Ζηνας, σκοτωσε τη μανα του Ηρακλη πισω στο χρονο (ο Ιολαος το αλλαξε αυτο) και ολα αυτα μονο και μονο επειδη η Γαβριελλα και ο Ηρακλης ειναι φιλοι της Ζηνας. Ναι η Αλτι καταραστηκε το παιδι της Ζηνας αλλα η Καλλιστω βοηθησε την Ελπιδα να σκοτωσει το παιδι της Ζηνας. Επισης η Καλλιστω ειναι ισαξια της Ζηνας στη μαχη και στο στρατηγικο μυαλο αν και τρελη και αργοτερα εγινε αθανατη, θεα και δαιμονας. Μην ξεχνας επισης οτι η Καλλιστω μπορουσε να χειριστεί το Σακραμ εξισου καλα με τη Ζηνα, ενω αρχικα η Ζηνα ηταν η μονη που μπορουσε να το κανει. Η Αλτι ειναι απλα μια θνητη σαμανισα με ψυχικες δυναμεις και σχεδον καθολου μαχητικη ικανοτητα. Οχι οτι η Αλτι ηταν χαλια σαν χαρακτηρας, ισα ισα, αλλα φιλε η Καλλιστω ηταν το κατι αλλο στη σειρα. Αυτο που λες οτι η Καλλιστω σκοτωσε τους γονεις της αθελα της συνεβη στο επεισοδιο Armageddon Now του Ηρακλη και ηταν μια αλλη πραγματικοτητα που δημιουργησε η Καλλιστω οταν σκοτωσε την Αλκμηνη πριν γεννηθει ο Ηρακλης και αλλαξε ολη την ιστορια. Ο Ιολαος ξαναπηγε στο παρελθον και εσωσε την Αλκμηνη και ξαναεκανε την ιστορια σωστη, οποτε το οτι η Καλλιστω σκοτωσε τους γονεις της καταλαθος ειναι σαν να μην εγινε ποτε.

@Joke Master Το πρώτο πράγμα που κάνει η Καλλιστώ όταν την πρώτο βλέπουμε στη σειρά είναι να πιάσει το Σακραμ, κάτι που μόνο η Ζηνα μπορούσε να κάνει μέχρι τότε. Από μια τόσο απλή σκηνή καταλάβαμε όλοι, ακόμα και η ίδια η Ζηνα, πόσο πολύ απειλητική είναι η Καλλιστώ.

Man, Alti was badass. I think, she was THE best enemy in the show, because she did not only have fight skills, but also spiritual mastery. Now _that's_ what a strong character is. She may be twisted and power-hungry, but she is very reflective and attuned to the spiritual world (in Xena universe; I don't believe in spirits IRL), dedicated enough to spend years on gaining that kind of power, even built some kind of philosophy on top of that. In her own way, she was the Sith Lord version of the Jedi Lao Ma, her path was not a mistake, it was just different, it worked in different ways and relied heavily on 'dark' emotions and strivings (like greed for power). She was right, actually, when she said that Lao Ma's path is not for Xena. Even though Xena has understood and mastered it, she always enjoyed the fight too much, she used the power of 'dark' emotions and strivings, she was just _built_ for Alti's ways. The difference is that Xena refused to succumb to them because she knew that kind of mindset leads to immorality and unneeded cruelty. Alti hasn't refused, and it doesn't make her wrong, she simply had different priorities. Her mindset and her philosophy were completely in tune, although it made her quite a destructive force. The whole conflict with Alti is so fucking interesting. And Xena looks even more interesting because of that. Because we have Alti who uses negative emotions and it agrees with her views and instincts, we have Lao Ma who uses clear head and passiveness (conscious surrender of will) which agrees with her views and instincts, and we have Xena who has instincts of Alti and prefers the ways of Lao Ma. A walking talking conflict on a neverending quest of redemption. I wish we had more characters like that in movies. It's all about silly romances and revenge nowdays, ugh.

@@sxnder I know from an interview that Renee O'Connor had, she said that she had tried on a wig for the Epiphany/Vision scenes Gabbi saw through Alti during their fight in this episode. So to answer your question, it would have been the decision of the show and not Renee's because at the end of this episode Gabbi decides to cut her hair anyway. Usually, it's the Show (Producers, Head Writers...) that make the decisions on a character change and how/when/where the show is going to go in as season progress.

I loved Gabrielle's long hair. It was gorgeous especially in "Devi." Her short hair didn't fit the time period and looked awful in season 4. They grew it out a little so it looked better but never great. The modern cut was a bad move IMO.

@@Nepthu you can put Renee O'Connor in anything and she still LOOKS great! Actually, Renee's short hair DID suite her! Gabbi was a character who loved change. That's why you see her in different outfits throughout the seasons of Xena. Her character actually grew as the seasons progressed anyway and she was always doing something with her hair, fashion styles as well. If she had stayed the same boring Gabrielle that she was when she met Xena, her character would NEVER have grown and would've been boring all throughout the Xena seasons! I'm glad Renee added changes to Gabrielle!

Definitely. She had a harder time with Alti than she does killing the Olympian Gods, fighting Odin and killing Mephistopheles. Alti doesn’t really have fighting skill during her time with the amazons, but her shamanistic powers kept her feared by others. Her fighting power comes from her re-incarnated form in the future who is a warrior and conqueror. The combination of the two is what we see at play here and it was pretty fierce.
