Love the scene with Callisto catching the chakram in the same camera angle as when she first caught it on her first appearance on the show.

no it isn't, the first camera angle was through the ring of the chakram and then focused in to see xena through the chakram not being the one holding it.

Hey she made a temporary alliance with Cesar. She was in hell and her lord offer her an out. She took it. Xena wasn't meant to kill Cesar. He was destined to die at the senate when he declares himself emperor.

I love Callisto too, but something was off in this episode--like she was cut and paste into a small part. I read that this episode was originally written for Alti to return, but when Hudson was available, they changed the part to Callisto. They have Hudson VERY few scenes. She played them beautifully but her character really didn't add much to the episode. The plot made no difference if it was Callisto or Alti and Xena made it clear she didn't care either. She hardly shows any interest in Callisto which felt very odd.

Alti wasn’t tied to xena as callisto, neither Xena felt guilt for what Alti did as she felt guilty for what Callisto become… and alls that makes more sense with the script which this episode iconic

Xena badass moments...Xena infiltrates Ceasars castle dressed as a guard. Xena hides amongst dead bodies to get into stronghold where Gabrielle and Eli followers are. Xena tells Callisto she put the her dark past especially with Callisto and her family behind her. It sucks that she died in the end of this episode but still great moments

Supposedly the show would end at the end of season 4. When they decided to move to a season 5 they wanted a binding story and a reason for xena to come back to life. Calistos redemption story was the key but in order to do that she had to play an instrumental role in her death. And she did. The creator stated that the episode was originally written for alti returning to take revenge on Xena. It was closed up the story of season 4 greatest arcevil. he was refusing to rewrite the episode before Hudson would sign again a contract. But when it happened he decided to go with this plan so they can have an opening for season 5 They kept this story in a season 6 episode when Fates collide.
