Me too. I think about her everyday, and I cry...well. Everyday. It's a feeling so warm to know so many love her. I have a little figure, my comfort "blanket", it's an elephant and it's name is...yes, Fenya.

Her and several other calfs that Herd tried to save did not survive. They give it all they have, yet baby elephants are the most complex to raise out of babyhood. It's a constant 24/7 vigil, and yet some don't make it. I think putting another younger baby or adolescent such as Timisa slowly intergating the new arrival with a little older baby might help. Either way when you give it all you have and still lose them, then it breaks your heart.

When Khanysia puts her trunk in her mouth (not when she’s eating), is that equivalent to a toddler sucking their thumb? She looks so cute and so thoughtful when she does that. She is getting very brave and independent. In a way it is a testament to how safe you have all made her feel that she can venture out like that. I bet she would always keep you in her sight though. That was so cute playing with the tire … she enjoyed that you could tell.

Love these videos and watching her grow and develop is a gift. To the person who compared Khanysia's growth to the growth of her grandchildren. I can relate. Mine grew up way too fast just like Khanysia is growing up way too fast. Before we know it she will be full grown and we will scratch our heads saying to ourselves when did this happen.
