It’s looking like another beautiful day out in the wild and the perfect weather for a swim which wouldn’t be complete without some sweet tender moments between Mama Lundi and her pink baby girl Sunshine they have such a special bond it’makes me tear up just watching them. The giraffe sighting is an added bonus there’s so many amazing creatures in the reserve how incredible it must be to have this be your very own backyard. Hopefully I’ll make it to Jabulani in person someday but until then I’ll continue watching these gems of videos thank you for sharing your paradise with us.🐘🐘☀️☀️💖💖💚💚🐘🐘

It is obvious Kumbura still thinks humans are a bit sketchy. Watching her it's like a part of her wants to be friendly but another part is saying no, don't go there with a human. Her loyalty to Khanyisa and Timi is awe-inspiring to see. Fish standing by his bestie Bubi is sweet. This family of 16 is simply amazing.

I have seen videos of giraffes surrounding their young when the group feels a possible or real threat. While many think of herds, in reality they are families. Nature and the natural world have a purpose for this earth that humans have far too little knowledge of and and immense amounts of learning in front of us.

That was so cute seeing khanysia actually get in the front of Lundi and just lean on her. Then there was a segment where lundi is eating a rather large bush, and then you see khanysia beside her eating a much smaller bush. Kumbura is on edge a lot, just like Bubi, so past trauma in elephants mirrors human trauma in that it affects us/them in our future actions, our personalities, the way we see the world. She is so beautiful and what a gallant young elephant she is. When she does take a time out for herself and play like the other teenagers it is a wonderful thing to behold.

What a lovely day to enjoy. I was looking at the elephant tails and noticed the different body and tail brush styles. Some have magnificent brushes which don't seem to rely on tail body length being short. Is there a practical reason for this? Or do some get their tails chewed when youngsters? Never mind it all adds up to the wonders of elephants.

I can picture Kumbura, Timisa, and Khanyisa reintegrated out in the wild building their own herd with their babies and their grandbabies. I see and appreciate HERD's big-picture thinking and long-term goals as the responsible steward of the land and the animals you rescued and will rescue in the future. Without elephants in the wild, other animal species and their natural habitats will have no chance for survival as humans pave over everything for roads, buildings, and monocrops, and animals are only kept and bred in zoos.

It's beyond heartbreaking that ellies in the wild - ALL animals - in the wild, can no longer survive as nature intended. It breaks my heart that I got emotionally attached to this silly rag-tag group of misfits before finding out THEIR fate this week.
