Being a rebound sucks, which is why will never get involved with a woman who's fresh out of a breakup. The thing to do after a breakup is to get yourself right, first and foremost, before you invite someone else in. After a breakup, the thing to do is to instead of trying to get your ex back, your first job is to get yourself back. Invest in yourself as a person. At the end of the day, and yes you can do things that will improve your chances of them coming back, but whether your ex decides to come back or not is a choice they have to make for themsleves, just like you have to ultimately make the choice wether or not you will take them back. The only thing you can do is keep pushing forward.

@Mladen Penchev idk if it helps you but my ex 2 exes ago rebound lasted 15 months.. they were engaged and lived together etc. And looks so great.. but he left her then. My ex before that married her rebound and been married to him for 11 years and I still miss her to this day. My current ex been on a rebound for 2 months so far. Coach Court, my ex gf is in rebound. Sometimes she write me something. But its maybe 3 or 4 months in that rebound (after 2 weeks after our breakup) and she seems to be happy. We started talking again and for a few days I got all the attention, he looked at all my Facebook stories and commented on several of them. Last time he did that was before we broke up. Emotionally detaching does not mean someone actually processed the end of a relationship or healed. Many times, someone emotionally detaches so they can avoid processing it and then rebounds to distract themselves. Someone still needs time between relationships to heal and reflect (especially if it was toxic), or it will still be a rebound.

I ask this because it seems to me that the person who leaves a long relationship and starts using others immediately so as not to think about the own loss, is kind of using the other. Isn't it a an emotional game, a toxic behavior with yourself and with the other, to go from rebound to rebound? Because in the end, what you're doing is trying not to feel your own story (and there is a bit of immaturity here). The person is not holding himself/herself accountable and appears to be using the other. Perhaps, it is unconscious, but still it is something serious and irresponsible. It already shows that this person is probably not someone good to have relationships with. It's an illusion to think that you don't grieve, that you can avoid it. #4 especially is what happened to me....she went the EXACT opposite from me....now she alway use to tell me that she's attracted to older men and she could never date anyone very young.... I've seen her ex"s before and they were much older than her....now she's 39 I'm 44 but i look alot younger than my age....I get mistaken for late 20s....now, the new guy she's with is the exact opposite....he's younger, my personality is fun like hers and more outgoing to a degree and he's quiet and very robotic looking....we all work together so I see it everyday....I know she misses me cause when he's not around she still flirts and do little inside jokes....it's like she need to get at least 1 daily fix of me....and I see them sometimes and she looks miserable....like that spark she use to have went away, and when she jokes with me it comes back a lil....always tryin to find a way to touch me and whatnot...even her daughter said she misses me, but her pride and ego won't let her admit that.....so....idk....and the fact she tries to hide him and doesn't claim him as a bf is crazy too....but I know what it is....she doesn't see longterm with him and its just a quick fix....

1) check (moved in with and engaged to rebound after 3 weeks with him, 2 weeks post break up) after 8yr relationship 2) I think so...saw less stories on insta and also none of them seemed very interesting 3) no idea, dont have info 4) well I'm a woman he's a guy who was eager to over give seems stable and boring, but fucked up, only thing we have in common is likely a tendency for codependency 5) probably - supposedly she talks to him about all her problems and has outsourced to him dealing with all her problems (material, emotional, physical), her parents never even heard of him before, maybe she told her father about him once and the guy doesn't even speak her native language and her parents wouldn't be able to understand him. His parents live on a different continent and I suspect he too has a poor relationship with them. She is def using him to get over me, she indirectly suggested it (she said she wasn't over me and talks to him about all her problems)

it's a Trauma bond -- it's not a good thing. Eventually one of few things will happen --one person may decide to work on themselves (ie. therapy) and they will start to see how the relationship is not ideal and the other person may either choose to stay stagnant because therapy you will have to hold your self accountable and face some things, 2. both people may continue the relationship because it's comfortable and they know how to navigate the chaos, 3. one of the people may see that the person they thought they were getting with isn't what they thought the other person was and leave whether in a healthy manner or a toxic manner

I always tried to work on myself, but she not as much, which sort of lead to us breaking up (among other things), now with her rebound she thinks it's so great and different and better etc, but he is pretty effed up from what I know about him and they surely bonded over this too, though it seems to me it will eventually implode because they will have too similar problems/traumas I think. But it's only been 2 months so too soon to tell...and I don't really have any channels to know anything so..
