This song. Sounds so simple yet so hard. I've learned the intro in 2 days. Stuck in the chorus part now for a whole day. But I must say, this is the best tutorial I've come across. You are by far and away the best guitar instructor I've ever had - and I'm 68 years old! As a long-time Beatles fan, I've been playing "Here comes the sun" for about 25 years - but sloppily. I recently decided to learn to play it correctly and watched about 20 youtube videos before I stumbled upon yours. Your clear and complete presentation with tabular illustration clarified several issues for me. I specifically appreciated your emphasis on the rhythmic up and down strumming motion and the down-down-up picking pattern in sections of the chorus and bridge. I am more determined than ever to play this song correctly and as close to the way you demonstrated it as I possibly can. You also play the song better than anyone alive I've ever heard - and as well as George Harrison!

Amazing tutorial Dave! I came here too early on my guitar journey - I adore the song and your clear and calm teaching approach and incredible playing got me inspired to have a go. Sadly I had bitten off more than I could chew at the time. Anyways, after a few months of learning other guitar songs (I'm still very much in the stage between a beginner and intermediate) I came back last week and decided to tackle this again. I got the intro down in terms of memorising the notes quickly and decided yesterday to take a deep breath and went for the 'giant leap' from individual picking to strum-picking. Bloomin' eck! It worked! Sure it still sounds clunky and I'm making mistakes but my goodness there is a tune there somewhere and it feels great playing. What really stood out during the learning process for me was that some of the down picks on the bass strings which felt out of place when just picking individually become crucial when strum-picking as they fill out the melody (not sure of the correct term here). I'm going to take the same approach for the verse and chorus - i.e. learn the individual picks and focus on memorising these ... and then take the leap to strumming and work that over and over till perfect. I won't be troubling the family or local neighbourhood with my awful singing however ... and no need when George has given us all such a beautiful melody. Thanks again for this lesson Dave. Exciting times ahead!
