Well that definitely is better than a coil unwinding on the former. Question is did you find that out before or after you cut into the surround or spider? This could have been a cheap or pricey fix.

To answer all questions on what happened, the compression cap came loose and was rattling around....we pulled it out and ran it another 8mo before I burned out the coils. And @jacobviral if you see this, I was the ran you down at MOS 2022 for his redemption vid. Keep up the great vids...one of these days I'll be ready for you to do my car!

Coils should last longer than 8 months you might want to check your subsonic filter on it the tuning of your box if you don't have a high xmax then it is going to bottom out? If the subwoofer is 3500 rms and the amplifier is the same? Your box is probably way too big I'm running to fi hc 15s 2500 rms each on bass 8k taramps all day and the coils are barely warm?

@@ceciljones1248 I just learned that the HPF is the subsonic filter, I appreciate it man my enclosure is tuned to 31hz so ima set it to 25 like you got. But how do you know you’re at exactly 25hz on the taramps 8k HPF?

What I do look on your subsonic filter and you see 30 hertz on the right hand side from 30 go up just a tad bit from 30 and you should be fine that 10 hertz killed your subwoofer because the xmax is 22 like a Dd that subsonic filter has to be between 25 and 30 hertz and you good to go bro

I just paid a place to install a dual 12in setup $1300. They'll randomly make a bogging sound on solid bass notes, it's like they miss a beat and get stuck behind. Any idea of what this could be. They tried troubleshooting it twice and they said it's my phone

maybe the subsonic or low pass filter settings on the amp. my first time getting subs i paid $800 and it was for 2 - 12's Tritons. They were garbage, so i went with skar and noticed the quality was much better in a lot of different bass notes. try the amp settings first, if nothing, try getting different subs and an amp to match.

Box can be big if the sub needs it. I personally think that the port was way too big but then again, if the sub is designed for it then it's designed for it.
