Hey Alexandra! I love your content! We just started the process of attaining land and becoming first time “hobby farmers”. Your barn is beautiful! I love the heated floor idea. We’re in FL so maybe not completely necessary but a great option nevertheless. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next for you!

Love this video, thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Also, I would enjoy seeing videos where you visit properties that are for sale in your area. There was a YT channel called Mossy Bottom, where an Englishman moved to the country in Ireland, and he had very little money, but over the years he built a really nice homestead there! And every so often, he would make a video about land for sale in that area ... and people loved those videos, and some properties did sell bc of him. (Kind of like your "Help the Amish sell these Sheds" campaign) Anyway, he moved to Finland with a new wife, baby, and now they are homesteading there.

Hey, something might help, I used to keep honeybees on this lady’s organic farm, where it was idle property “she rented”, where one spot was 60 acres. Just in case you see the cause to have more land to farm but can’t foresee long term commitment. Sometimes paying taxes is all that’s asked! I think she’s retired now, but renting extra land is always an option!

You left out property tax & insurance. Once you start hosting events or workshops there, your insurance will become much more significant. If you are bundling insurance, I recommend looking into an Umbrella policy, which for me is very little, but adds a million dollars of piece of mind on top of every other policy I have should they run out. The county is going to start hitting you with unexpected assessments soon. But it seems like you are doing very well so far. Enjoying the videos!

Cheaper than the city for sure, but you need capital to do all that you've done. And you need online income to swing all those expenses as there usually aren't a lot of jobs in the country. Sure, you can eventually get the farm to pay, but that takes some time.

@redleader79882 сағат бұрын
@@TheTubejunky Barn? Did you see a barn somewhere? She called it a barndo/event center. Living space appears to be in the loft and rear near the Christmas tree. It's a typical "barndo" which are approved living spaces, not a barn.
@TheTubejunkyСағат бұрын
@redleader7988 I think I Heard her refer to it as being a barn in a previous video. Some jurisdictions are very ignorant to people who want to convert them into living spaces. (I believe she designed and had hers built by Amish) They hide behind a wall safety regulations to justify their reasoning for it not being allowed. I personally love this space and would hope she's not being hassled at all by the political figures that seek to gain tax money or profit from regulation of these structures. If these are approved I def want one. It's shame we have to go through so much red tape to just live peacefully in our own structures without threat of states authority and being sent to bankruptcy for not complying with their (at times ridiculous) rules.

You're a born optimist I see... You are correct, the least people could do is to try and help feed themselves! We worry about carbon footprints, but what about the human footprint, you were born to take up space on this planet so start to help pull your own weight, raise a chicken and a turnip for God's sake! While I'm not as optimistic as you I do see a change for good in the country, covid seemed to help get that spark started in people... It's something good from something bad .. actually the government tyranny probably did more on that count that the actual virus now that I think about it.

I appreciate your videos but I don’t understand your math. I don’t see 6+ acres producing enough income to recover the costs you have put into everything you have done. I’m guessing that you put down $30,000 on the land then you had driveway built, structures built. So I’m guessing that you have approximately $400,000 in everything. That land will never pay for itself. You didn’t mention anything about a water bill so I’m assuming that you had a well drilled. I’m happy that you’re able to do all this but for the average person it can’t be done.
