Another told me I could take the deal that he would have no problem selling it to someone else for 100k. Mind you these trucks were 10 and 20k OVER msrp. My fair deal was msrp. Since 1982 cars have airbags; abs brakes; more epa stuff so that 42k car if built in 2024 has to cost more. Wells Fargo has a market cap today of 233 Billion so probably will be around a few years more. Your 7 percent car loan is lower than 1982's Prime rate that varied from 12 to 17 percent during 1982. Every one of them said that it was smarter to finance the cars for 12 months. Finally found a dealership 200 miles away that offered great deals and accepted the cash. Both have the package above what we wanted but we were not going to pay 7% on 2 cars for 12 months so the dealership got their kick back. We are set for the next 10-15 years or more. Prices aside, the problem here is not the current rates. It's your previous rates. It was always kind of dumb to have rates so low. It punishes savers and encourages people to borrow money. Higher rates reward savers and discourage people to borrow money - and that's the way it should be. (And in a truly free market, that's the way things would naturally shake out.)

Politicians aren't forcing people to buy cars they can't afford, driving up the cost. That's entirely on the consumer. If consumers were smart with their money, and all drove reasonable cars, that's what the manufacturers would make. If anything the politicians haven't regulated the market enough.

New follower here Great Report!!! Went my whole life never buying a new vehicle. Always bought used, completed all my own maintenance. Things were good. Never understood how other families could handle Large new car payments. Now I still don’t. Once I retired we did go out and buy a small SUV figured the car would be more reliable and maintenance would be easier. Not so much. Now I’m back to my old ways looking for a reliable , reasonably cheap used car. Any Suggestions? Thanks and keep them coming.

@@bford5899 There is an over supply of vehicles in the American market with cars being stored on dealership forecourts for months, in some places up to a year, there is a crash coming, it's not going to be pretty. @@mrenzo2004 I didnt say it was just unions that were to blame maybe you should have read all of what I said instead on picking up on one "trigger" word I said. In the UK we lost our entire car manufacturing due to endless strikes and poor management in the 70's. Management that was slow to improve manufacturing techniques, unlike Toyota that with the help of Dr Deming, an American, invented the Toyota Production System, TPS, leading to cheaper and far better quality cars. In America you also have the problem with dealerships that tie the hands of manufacturers, they dont want cars that need less servicing or breakdown less, because that is their whole business. Your screwed, you have unions that doesnt want to change because they will lose members, bosses that dont want to change because they will have to spend cash and ruin their bonuses and dealers that want the status quo, so your screwed. They want to keep siphoning as much money to the wallstreet tech mafia as possible because they are investing our tax money into the 4th industrial revolution aka automation and AI. They dont need billions of useless workers now, they used us to build and fund all this tech so they can replace us and live self sufficiently without the rest of us. I know that sounds crazy but its the absolute truth. These men at the top want a dystopian hellscape neofeudalist system for themselves with all their stolen tech and money. We own this tech as workers, tax payers and consumers. They stole it from us. We are basically the horse about to be replaced by a car. This is global. They want rid of us all and they want rid of our economic system. They crash the economy intentionally every 10 years and take trillions away from the rest of us. This cannot be allowed to continue. Once we lose leverage as workers we have no say what so ever in these sham democracies. We all must withhold our labour until we are represented again. Before it is too late.

All the electronics, fancy wheels, tires, suspension, custom interior with maps and Bluetooth you can stick up you dealers behind.
