My dad is retired now and spends more than half the year living at his place in Naples Florida where it is normally really warm and buggies and Carts can be driven on a lot of the streets. Something like that would be perfect for down there. Right now he rides his E-Bike everywhere.

To drive these cars you need an AM license in Europe. In Yugoslavia this category was called "bicycle with auxiliary engine" and I think that's very fitting for these vehicles. You only need to be 14 to drive them but a license is 600€ and the car is 10000€. So why not wait till you're 18 and pay 600€ for a proper license and 10000€ for a much more usable car? The concept is actually very good, a "bicycle" in a much safer enclosure and can go faster. But it is not for modern traffic. There's always the possibilty of some debil in the BMW from this video mowing you down cause he doesn't expect such low speeds. A bicycle can move aside and avoid traffic but these "quadricycles" don't have such capabilities.

@@masterkamen371 Dude! The cost of taking the B license is atleast 3 times higher then the moped liscence. The AM class is also prohibited on motorways/highways(as are bikes). But it's perfectly fine to drive them on normal roads even those with a 50 MPH/80kmh limit. And if a driver don't have the attention span to to notice the proximity at 22 mph (50 - the ami top speed) THEN they have NO business having a liscence! That said, I think E-bikes is a great way for older people to stay fit. It's not a massive exercise but if done often it's good maintanence. My grandparents moved from a walkable neigbhorhood with a grocery store close by. To a suburbs way out in the sticks. Around 6-5 years of the end of her life was in pain everytime she moved around. Also It's Florida so it's not like you got all the Ice and Snow I E-bike on without bothering to get studded tires.(with consequene)

Anyways, the AM licenses used to be free for teenagers in Yugoslavia back when it was all state owned. Nowadays the asshole companies that issue the licenses can basically charge as much as they want, and typically that means €600+.

I really do love the Ami, I prefer the one with proper doors and windows though, which is why I never bought a Twizzy no matter how much I liked it. We are on the waitlist for the Ami, or I think we are my husband did it and says we’re waiting, but it does sting a little as you could get a used Nissan Leaf for significantly less than a new Ami. Then there’s also the G-Wiz which I have a soft spot for and a neighbour has one sitting abandoned on their drive that I really want to buy and fix up. It clearly has a story behind it I’m dying to know. Plus, the fact I live in actual actual, literal central London and I have within 50-60M neighbours with (small) driveways is probably interesting enough on its own, and I thought my patio/terrace/garden (whatever you wanna call it) made me extraordinarily lucky.
