In my short life of 71 years, I've seen a time when 1 income can own a house, feed, and educate a family with 8 children. Now without 2 full time incomes you won't even qualify for a rental, you won't be able to pay car payments, and insurance. This year alone, home owners insurance went up 50%, and they are warning us to prepare for several years of increases like we have never seen before.

All of this is factual but I believe the problem is even more insidious. When workers get more free time, what do they do with it? Since our culture teaches more is better, many use the time dividends to take on extra employment to complete in the income and acquisition of stuff game. In other words we have to re-evaluate our priorities to live a truly rewarding life. I don't see a consumer based economy facilitating the change.

The FIRST King discovered that if he told enough people that God had told him God wanted him to lead the people and be their King, that enough people were gullible enough to believe him and would follow him as their King. And not only that, but the people would work and produce crops and goods and services and give their wealth to the King, and the King and his Wife and Family would never have to do an honest day's work or anything productive and useful. And so it was! And other egotistical and conceited individuals soon learned that they could get people to believe they were special too. And that is how it began. That some people are privileged while the majority of people struggle their entire lives and never get ahead or have anything while a few have far more than any group of people could ever possibly need.

Then why did most tech companies have to have mass layoffs because of the Chips Act? How can you show that they're producing more? They're produced by machines, it's not some 13 year old in a factory hand feeding thread into a spool anymore.
