I had a base-spec Altima as a rental car down in Tampa a few years ago, and was amazed by its smooth & quiet ride, and superb gas mileage (40+mpg). It would be good to see a test of the 2023 base-spec Altima, Accord, and Camry back to back, if you ever get the chance!

They will never outsell the Accord, but its always nice to see another Japanese brand putting forth an effort to compete and make buyers of these sedans think twice, the default doesn't necessarily have to be Honda or Toyota. Lets hope these don't all end up as rental fleet car because they offer a lot of value.

Nissan Altima reign supreme in so many many ways compared to the new Honda. Holy guacamole! I own a 2009 Nissan Altima and upto now we still have it and my son is now using it without complain except for the paint peeling. The only advamtage the Altima has over the Accord is the fact that it has a 2.0T and AWD. Otherwise, I think the Accord has a better interior design and rear end. @Blank00

@@KirkKreifels looks are sunjective. I'm not a fan of the grill that seems to "bleed" into the headlights and front end. I will agree on tbe features, Honda has been hit by supply chain issues hard, so Honda is in crisis mode and skimping on features. Now the only reason why the Nissan is faster is because Honda dropped the 2.0t since they are subjected to newer EPA standards that changed after 2019. I do think Honda will bring out a more powerful hybrid in a few years. As for the other rivals that are awaiting a redesign soon (which is just the Camry and Malibu), I think the 2025 Malibu will only be a 1.5t and the Camry will phase out their V6 for 2024 and introduce a Camry Prime when that's ready. If it's not ready by 2024, I think Toyota will just make a base and hybrid just like the Accord until then.

You lost me at CVT... I've had many Nissans over the years. My last one was a new 2010 Maxima. We had issues with the CVT at 7k miles. My sister had a quest minivan after that. If I remember correctly, she didn't make it to 70k miles before the CVT went out. My brother has had two Altimas since then and neither made it to 100k miles (actually one of them may have just made it past the 100k mile mark... and I mean less than 101k). Before the CVT came to Nissan, their cars were good for 200k miles or more without any major issues. When you go to look at a new Nissan, the sales people always claim that the CVT has been redesigned and the issues are gone... every time they have let us down. It's definitely better than the Honda Taurus all day!! But, my money is with the Kia K5. A vehicle that Honda should've been, but instead looks like it's ready for their IRA and Retirement plan.

The Altima is nice but I will rather buy the Accord or the Camry for long term. To bad Nissan isn't reliable like it used to be!

Even though Honda dropped 2.0t imo it’s still a better option than any Altima lol I’d go for a Toyota xse or trd as options over the accord Nissan can suck it with their cvt

Nissan has some really sharp looking cars BUT they need to fix the reliability, especially those CVT jetco transmissions…..before I will even consider buying one!

I like the updates Nissan made with the 2023 models. However, I don't think I've ever seen an Altima with the VC-Turbo out on the road since they introduced this generation.

What I really love about the Altima is the fact you never have to change the oil, wash it, or have a high credit score to buy one. I hear the 24 models are going to have options for 79k miles already on them from the factory, only come in silver, and front bumper cover already falling off 😍

General speaking, the NHV especially the quietness of any Honda car is always poorer than its Japanese rivals in every single class. The latest Accord is quite hideous and lost its predecessor's style and prestige. This new Altima front-end, sideview and tail designs are attractive and way better than Accord.

Idk the Altima will make it to 100k (as long as all owners change the CVT fluid…) pretty easily, but beyond 200k or something yeah the accord will have a much better chance
