The 4th Gens were the last of the good Cummins/Rams. Just stay away from recall 67A unless you want More EGR dumped in your motor and burn waaaay more DEF. The 4th gens up to year 2017 easy to tune.

Good recommendations We live in Hawaii, and our grid heater really doesn't work as hard as cold weather states. But we changed to a Banks high ram set up. Oh, our grid heater was still tight, and the nut was still in tack, but I don't have the funds to buy a replacement engine. The Banks high ram was just in case purchase

I would suggest you look at the front axle U-JOINTS for the ticking issuewhich would come into play in 4 wheel drive, as that is where you would be putting higher loads on the joints.

Hey Nathan @tfl that noise that your hearing is a worn hub! Bwhen they go out they tend to have a tick noise when they are going out! It wouldn't be an issue with the differential because if it was youd see it in the driveshaft, the broken differential would bounce and jerk off it was broken! Id check out the hubs first

It's the double cardon joint on the front shaft I'm sure. If you put it up on your drive on lift with the wheels in the air and stick it in 4wd and run it. You'll be able to pin point the exact location.

The reason no one can tell a difference after the recall, there is none. All it does is recalibrate your DEF Level gauge. You will now go through more Def fluid because now the truck won't run right if you run out. That's all it does

There are no CV joints on a solid axle truck, not sure why others are suggesting that. There are only u_joints and axles and drive shafts. I do agree with another post that putting on a lift and inspecting all components would be a first step to identifying the noise.

Worked at independent shops and at the Chrysler dealerships. These ram trucks held up great for customers, not uncommon to see them with 400k plus miles. In California if you see guys towing commercial 80% of them are using rams. Plus these trucks are easier to repair then ford or Chevys options.

Tows my 8000 lb travel trailer to up and down mountain passes to Moab with ease and then off roads when we get there with ease as well. The transmission is not great but it works ok and the exhaust break is so good that it will actually slow me down on 6% grades going 65 so instead of break applications, I need gas applications if cruise control isn't on.

I think the difference between Alex's truck and TFL's truck is more the usage than quality contrôle, diesels like to be worked(expecialy with dpf and scr), if you just start it to go 5 miles to the grocery store it does not have the time to properly warm up and the "anti-pollution" system does not have the time to clean itself Another reason that most people that want a hd truck but will make it work rarely should buy a gas instead of a diesel

Climate change is real, but NOT from fossil fuels. The Earths axis has rotated a few degrees. All the EV's will do, besides being very inconvenient and heavy, is use their heavier weight to pollute tires and brakes so badly they are worse than a V-8. All these idiots spending a fortune do is lower their safety and net worth

RAM mirrors are the worst out of all 3 brands. theyre physically smaller in width and height in the towing position , you have to majorly re adjust them every time you flip them. which means getting out (sometimes multiple times) to manually adjust the fish eye on the passenger side. I've taken my Ram to SEVEN different dealers in the Houston area and they all suck. They play games to keep you truck on their lot for as long as possible even though the issues don't involve the drivetrain. My PW has sat on dealers lots for more than SIX MONTHS in the first 3 years of ownership (bought it new). This is unacceptable. I only received a rental once even though all of my visits were warranty issues. Never again!

Wouldn't you put a bar on the back side of the muffler, and not the front? Why not just cut the muffler about 7 inches? I just had colon cancer, and the surgeon cut out 7 inches of sigmoid colon, a sigmoid colectomy, and I feel 1000X better. LOL Cut the exhaust pipe far away from the tire.

I am having the big HD debate between the big 3. Any reason you went with the lower HP and lower torque of the Ram? I am looking at a Ram today with a significant mark down, and wondered if I would notice the lower hp and torque compared to my old 19 F350 dually that pulled my boat with the greatest of ease. Was so fast and powerful "like nothing was behind me". Wondering if I will feel the same with the Ram. Thanks guys.

Reliability and can fix it in your driveway a lot of times! The Ford has CP4 pump which is junk. The Duramax is nice but does have a lot of emissions problems and the crankshaft pin can break.

1. Ford has twice as many recalls than any other mfr. Yes they have a 10-speed transmission but that is the cause of most of the Ford recalls 2. Every vehicle has recalls 3. Cummins engines are known for being durable, and that is why the majority of hot shot drivers use RAM trucks 4. I have 37s on my RAM 2500 just like the TFL RAM 2500. As per the dealer, if you get a flat, you can not use the stock spare. It will mess up the speed sensors. You need a 37 inch spare 5. I know this is counter to what TFL does, but you guys should keep that RAM 2500 and see how many miles you can put on it. The new RAMS or GMC / Ford models are way more expensive than that one. Just keep it. It works so why get rid of it? 6. TFL is awesome.

@@9663muNot the same company Stellantis is the parent company and Jeep, RAM, Dodge etc are operated as seperate brands and manufacturers under Stellantis and the 4th/ 5th Generation RAM’s are made in Saltillo and Sterling heights, those plants are Chrysler production plants. Nothing to do with Dodge.

They kept it because it works. That's what a truck is for. RAM is by far the best work truck, best engines, and by far the best upscale interiors. Terrible base gray interiors though.
