I know some guys will say this isn’t a “budget” build and while it’s not cheap, this is obviously more cost efficient to get top of the line in the parts of the truck that matter to the owner, but not paying for the stuff they don’t care about. But, the difference is that instead of buying an upper trim and ripping stuff off later, you can add as you go. I’m sure we’d all like to do this out the gate, but it’s not always feasible. Very cool set up, and a lot like I would spec out if I were to do it myself. Vinyl floors and seats are the way to go and it’s a shame you can’t get them on all models as an option

After doing some adding from the prices online. A build like this with approximate labor, you are looking at about 17k. And thats on the soft side. So maybe like 18k. But anyways. There you guys go for everyone that keeps asking.

I am totally sold on this type of build. I wouldn't do a lift, but getting a base tradesman with a couple options and putting money into headlights, a level, and wheels and tires. Add heated seats, steering wheel, and a moonroof aftermarket and I'd have the truck I want for probably 20k less than ordering the trim you need to get all those options.

Have you guys ever experimented with using mostly all Carli suspension but utilizing aev parts to move the axle forward with their fender kit to run 40’s? I would love to see 40’s with Carli build and ride quality
@CJCOffRoad
@CJCOffRoad 2 жыл бұрын
It isn't possible. Axle re-location on these trucks means that you need to reduce upward and downward wheel travel to prevent contact within the suspension, so unless you want to run large bump stop drops and stock coils to limit travel like AEV, it isn't happening. The better path is to simply run AEV flares, and then trim as needed on the firewall etc to clear 40s on a Carli/Thuren system.

@@Grof2000 It really just depends on what your goal is. For me, I chose the Tradesman and then invested the difference in cost of a loaded Laramie into what mattered to me. Even with that setup, the Ram will offer more travel, better ride, and overall better off road performance for less money. There's a reason we prefer solid axles under these trucks!

Actually not leather. It’s Ram’s “Work Grade Vinyl”. All our work trucks have it. It’s tough as nails but I find it terrible in the summer months cause it doesn’t breathe at all so it gives you a sweaty back and butt.

Best to use their links above for items on website. Lots of different options. I also had some other things done that weren’t included in the video. So my total cost paid wouldn’t be accurate to items only referenced in video. Bottom line, you can complete your build in steps. For example, on my first build years back, I added the steering stabilizers a year after the lift. Hope that helps.

AEV has some nice fender flares if you want to run 40’s but I’m really not down with cutting the fenders. I’ve had Nitto Trail Grapplers, Toyo M/Ts, and Ridge Grapplers. All great tires but Nitto’s seem to be the quietest and last the longest in my opinion.

I really wish you guys would do a full non-Cummins 2500 build video. You and companies like you are fixated on diesels in IMHO I would really like to do something with my 2014 HD 5.7 Hemi powered Outdoorsman but there is a dearth of info for non-diesel HD Rams. The 5.7 would probably be a better fit for off road optimization compared to an overweight Cummins.
@CJCOffRoad
@CJCOffRoad 2 жыл бұрын
We've done plenty! We truly prefer the Cummins platform though. Power is better and more importantly, fuel economy and range is better. We just did Mojave road and our Hemi Power Wagon barely made the trip. The Cummins trucks still had a half tank of fuel at the end. With a properly set up suspension system, the weight difference isn't really noticeable, so there's really no benefit to the Hemi aside from lower initial cost. Again, it's all personal preference though, and we offer this system set up for Hemi trucks too if that's your cup of tea.

When you think about it though, this whole build and truck cost less than a optioned Laramie/Limited truck that's bone stock. If you only have so many dollars to spend, and need performance off road, this is the way to do it. We'd say that definitely counts as a budget build. Every dollar spent went to something with a performance oriented propose.
