Professional forest managers know how to prevent fires. It was done several years ago at Huntington and Shaver Lakes east of Fresno. Owned and managed by Southern California Edison. When the fire came through the public mismanaged land was burned to a crisp, while the Edison owned and managed forest was unscathed because there was nothing to burn.

During COVID-19 we weren't allowed to reuse reusable plastic bags. People got used to tossing them, and/or got out of the habit to bring them when shopping. I keep mine in my car, wait to bag everything until I get to my car. Plus, more are being used because of home delivery. Those can't be reused unless you go to the store. I've also noticed the bags are smaller as well as thicker. More are needed.

@@chcknmr: I’ve been using cloth bags for a couple of years now and far prefer them over plastic but I’ll admit the changeover process in my area was ludicrous. Initially it was decided that if retailers were required to charge 5¢ per bag whales would stop eating them but the whales apparently didn’t know the difference so then some stores went back to paper bags which we stopped using a few decades ago due to tree-hugger protests, so then everyone went to cloth bags which fearmongering ’experts’ forewarned could harbor bacteria, etc etc etc. It’s been a journey for sure.

Just before the pandemic, my state banned single-user plastic bags. Suddenly people started using those reusable shopping bags. Canvas bags came out of storage, people made their own bags too. At first it was an annoyance, but now this many years later, it's fine. Stores now can offer (for 8¢) a reusable, heavy duty plastic bag. So the plastics industry, well really the petroleum industry, is back in business

I think what should be done is reducing one time use diapers. Before Pampers came out, diapers were made of cotton cloths that would be washed. Add adult incontinence diapers to the landfills, and ocean pollution. We've become lazy. Milk and Soda were all glass and were reused. Kids would collect😢 them to make money. More needs to be done to reduce the needless waste and pollution. We even have throw away wipes. What happened to wash cloths?

@@sasha28957 I'm a 70+ Boomer. Our mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers washed our diapers. They also had diaper laundry service back then. Every town and city had a diaper laundry service. You younger people are spoiled. Laundry loads are rinsed and flushed down the sewer, no one had to worry about the shit getting on their clothes. Some mothers rinsed the diapers first in the toilet bowl, then just flushed it down the drain.

Even if they ban all grocery store plastics, what are we going to line our trashcans with? If we don't reused them to line our trashcans, we'll just buy trashbags and the landfills will still be ridden with plastics. In the 90's they cried that paperbags were killing the trees to make them. Now they cry about landfills having plastic bags. Landfills will always have plastic bags until you figure out a way for us to line our trashcans with paper bags or something else biodegradable.

Every time our elected officials get involved, confusion arises out the simplest of simple. Grocery bags have been the simple solution for grocery transport for years upon years. Then our leaders told us paper bags were bad. We need to use plastic instead. Now, plastic is bad and paper is good. So now we're back where we started. Well, almost. Now we have the privilege of paying separately for the paper bags. We'll see how long this lasts before we're told paper bags are bad again.

Basically sprinkle the spawn on the plastics in a metal drum and will turn it to a compostable material. We can make a difference.
