I was in the car business as a Wholesaler just after graduating high school in 1990, until retiring in 2015. I will tell you that these cars were really hot and sold very easy, I had to have had sold 1,000s between all the different models you were talking about. They all drove really really well, of course all had some quirky problems, but nothing major. I remember buying a fully loaded Concorde at an auction, white in color and had the leather, sunroof, fully loaded. I liked that car so much I kept it as a daily driver to run my routes(200+ miles per day) for more than 5 years. The only reason I let it go then is because it was getting close to 200k miles. The only thing I had to replace on that car was tires, of course quite a few oil changes and normal maintenance, other than that it asked for nothing.

In 2001, I had bought a '94 intrepid. It had 325K on it, and had been across the country 3 times. I loved that car. That V6 engine took all the abuse I could give it, and the only issue I had in 5 years was a blown ball joint, and the radio died. It was a solid car

I was a technician at a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in the late 90s and worked on and drove many of these. They were really nice cars, but there were many problems and recalls. The "Cab Forward" thing was mostly advertising hype, it was more like "move the base of the windshield forward", since most passenger cars for decades already had the passenger compartment moved up to right behind the front wheel well, and you can't get much further forward than that. True "cab forward" was a term derived from race cars where the driver (the only passenger) sat in the center with his legs out between the front wheels. These Chryslers were very roomy but that was more because they had unusually long wheelbases for their size than because of "cab forward" design. But advertising slogans are what sell cars, I guess.

I rarely 'fall in love' with a car, but the first time I saw an LH on the street I did. I bought a 2004 Intrepid new and still have it. Miles have slowly piled up on it and at 125K miles it's supposedly near the end. I've had to replace the battery once, and that is one weird location. I'll use it for a road trip this summer to drive 500 miles to Pensacola. For road trips, the car is comfortable and fuel efficient. I once got 30 mph in that thing. For the first several years of my ownership the engine made a sound as if it was a jet engine. A dealer service tech eventually discovered that the tensioner pulley was causing that noise and fixed it. That was fun while it lasted, though. I poured a bottle of Stop Leak into the radiator a few years ago and it's all borrowed time now.

When the trans went the second time, towed it home and junked it a couple years later. Still have the rims and floor mats from that car, though. All this before 120,000 miles. Man this takes back. I remember when I saw my first Intrepid at middle school. One of our school teachers had the brand new 2000 ES model Red with Beige interiors, when I sat inside the car the infinity sound system and the ride got me sold. Eight years later I could never find any ES model let alone the RT and SXT models (the few that I found were in bad shape, really bad shape) and ended up buying a 2001 Chrysler 300M with no radio, no lighting inside, but had the least miles, as the years passed I've fixed the car slowly but surely, which of all the cars I've driven this has not let me down the road even with the worn torque converter it kept moving until fixed when the car had 14 years. Now I have a 2015 Dodge Charger Scat Pack as my 300M is 230K miles and its falling apart (burnt paint, cracked leather seats) but engine and transmission are still working :)

I had a 2000 Chrysler Canada Intrepid. It had the nightmare 2.7 engine. I started hearing stories about the 2.7. I had it for 8 years. ran great. then after 7 years all the things I read online started to happen. engine light came on constantly, oil light. finally the engine blew just 2 kms from home. Had only 200,000 kms on it. 120k miles. It was a great car at first however never buy another chrysler product...

My parents bought a new 95 intrepid and I remember thinking it was like a spaceship compared to our previous car when I was 8 years old. 8 years after that I ended up buying a well used 95 lhs at my first car. It lasted a full week before blowing up, but I thought I was living in pure luxury for that week.

The first one was totalled in an accident (stolen car hit me head on fleaing the scene of an accident he had just caused before hitting me), the Intrepid took that hit like a champ. I had very minimal injuries sustained becuase of that foreward cab design. I miss that car!

That whole platform was extremely reliable. Pontiac 6000, Buick Century, Chevy Celebrity, and Olds Cutlass Ciera. Sure they are low tech and sound like a tractor when running, but absolute reliability (V6 models). And believe it or not, these cars were considered very sleek and modern when they came out in 1982. Flush glass, rounded edges, composite headlights (except for really early ones). After the disastrous X cars, these cars are one of the first front wheel drive modern vehicles that did really well.

The first car of the Eagle Brand was the Eagle Sports Wagon in 1985. AMC rolled it's car line into the Jeep Division and changed it's name to Eagle. So you had a Eagle Sedan and an Eagle Sports Wagon. This became the Jeep Eagle Division of Chrysler Corporation. Joe Cappy CEO of AMC writes extensively of the Eagle Brand in his Book "The Last American CEO". Chrysler didn't create the name Eagle, AMC did it on it's own a year and a half before Chrysler Acquired American Motors Corporation.

I had a '96 Intrepid with the 3.5l engine. Loved that car. Longitudinal engine layout made the car feel like my old 80's american sedans, sitting at idle you could feel the engine rocking a bit. And the longitudinal engine made it easy to work on too, though I never had much trouble with it. Transmission design was unique because the engine output shaft was behind the front wheels, the power needed to be routed forward to get to the axles. As I recall, that transmission found its way into the Prowler to save money on that project. Sold my Intrepid at 225,000 miles. You might consider including in your video what is perhaps the most famous Intrepid. Was owned and driven by the owner of the largest Airstream dealership in Canada. He reinforced the trunk, put a big hitch on it, and with a Hensley Hitch he towed his 10k lb triple-axle Airstream all over the US and Canada. At RV shows he'd let customers take his Intrepid and Airstream through a slalom course: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnfWg4ugfp2KbNE

My Dad had a 300m. He even autocrossed it once and even won the popular vote in the exhibition class. He normally autocrossed a 1970 911 through the PCA, but it wasn't able to get fixed in time for the up coming autocross weekend. So I convinced him to take his daily driver, the 300m. We had way more fun than anyone would have thought capable of having autocrossing a huge sloshy 300m. The course on the first day had a long increasing radius sweeping turn and with the 300m's open diff the inside tire would spin up and make for some smoky exciting corning. The first time around everyone thought a coolant hose had let go or something, but it was just tire smoke. lol. At the Time in the PCA any car that ran that wasn't a Porsche got lumped into the same exhibition class, so his 300m was up against some pretty nice cars (supras, corvettes, miatas, etc) and yet he still won the popular vote. I think the smokey burn out corning helped, lol, and the shear novelty.

The reason you don’t see many of these is because most had the sludgy 2.7L engine that wouldn’t make it to 100K and fixing them was way more than they were worth. I would know, my 99 Concorde only made it to 84K. Loved it right up until the end.

My dad had that exact same battery issue with his '99 Intrepid ES! 😂 That was fun to figure out! Besides the battery, I loved everything about that car and drove it quite a bit in high school. It had decent power, lots of front and rear room (I was 6'2"), and quite a large trunk. Thankfully, this car was powered by the 3.2L, so it didn't have the oil sludge issue. The only thing I found odd was that the engine sat longitudinal, but it wasn't RWD. Every other FWD car I had seen at the time or since has a transverse engine layout.

I had a 2004 base Intrepid in red with the pathetic 2.7, I did get 180000kms before it died. Loved how it looked so I then found a 2002 Intrepid ES in gold with leather, sunroof, chrome wheels, premium sound system and the 3.5. Much better car but overheated and disintegrated the water pump causing continuous issues until a soccer mom wrote it off in one fell swoop.
