Was made aware of Mr Faddis when his playing I heard in the Clint Eastwood film " The Guantlet". Not surprising as Mr Eastwood is a serious jazz fan and plays too. Eastwood's son plays Bass and composes fine jazz as well

Pretty much ruins the mood with the gratuitous screech notes. Too bad.

Yeah, but it's nice to hear a different version once in awhile. And Jon Faddis is famous for his stratospheric playing, it's completely within his character and I would venture to say what his audience expects to hear.

As a trumpet player, I appreciate Mr. Faddis showing how he can turn this masterpiece into a into something awe inspiring. There are over 100 greats who have done this song that we can see on KZbin alone. Jon turns it into a jaw dropping event. Mind blowing.
