A great review, I love the real world examples. I also loved seeing this car go through the Starbucks drive through in another video. Easily, Every Man Driver is in my top 3 vehicle review channels on KZbin for reviews like this.

One year and 10,000 miles in we are super happy with ours. It is not meant to be a big family hauler, but it is a great crossover for DINKs and city dwellers. I can fit into parking spaces that few other cars can, yet out on the highway it has a bigger car comfort ride.

+Drew Dowdell ~This would be perfect for me ... I'm 5'2, petite, no children and always riding by myself so I really don't need much room at all. A few questions though if you don't mind. How does it ride on bumpy or less than smooth roads? How about against the wind? The snow? How is the suspension and handling around curves? Does it hug the road? Is it fun to take for long distance driving like a Jetta or Audi? Parking, is it easy? I still have a hard time parking my folks BMW x3 unless I'm backing it in.

I have this car. Premium, AWD. Yup, 23.2 mpg in the winter, mostly city driving. 24 mpg in the summer. Mine has more chrome. Chrome wheels make it really look classy. It's not a real comfortable car in that the center arm rest is too small and there's no good place to put your left arm. The turbo charger is a nice feature. Hit the gas when you need it, and it opens up nicely. I have about 44k miles on mine, and I have noticed a small oil leak developing when I crank up the heater on really cold days. Oil smell in the cabin the few times that's happened. It's damn near too small lot carry the groceries in, and you could call the rear cargo area the 3rd glove box. But that's cool. It's a fun car with everything Buick can put on an Encore. Mine has a sunroof. (Same colors as this tested model). I get compliments on it. I'd never get one without AWD!

My 2014 AWD Buick Encore is the exact same color seen here. It has got to be one of the best and most fun to drive cars I've ever owned. With 250 pounds of tools neatly stowed in the rear storage area, and with Prolong Engine Treatment in the Engine and Prolong Transmission Treatment in the Transmission - I have been averaging a Very Impressive 30.9 Miles Per Gallon! Incredible for an All Wheel Drive Vehicle! The Prolong has also made the Transmission shift so much more smoothly, and it has given the engine a very noticeable power boost that make it accelerate up to speed much faster. The handling is excellent and the car is Very Quiet - such a Pleasure to drive! I love the Blind Spot Alerts built in to both of the outside Rear View Mirrors and the Cross-Traffic Alert for the Rear Vision Camera System for backing up - an advanced Side-Scanning Radar system that warns you of traffic that's coming at you before it comes into the view of the Rear Vision Camera image. The warning comes in the form of a Blinking and Beeping Red Triangle that appears on the side of the video display from where the traffic is coming at you. Though this Cross Traffic Alert feature was formerly introduced on the 2015 models - I was so excited to find that it was included on the end of the 2014 model year vehicle, which I got a great deal on as a brand new vehicle in my dealer's show room. The turning radius is incredible and the overall driving experience is WOW ! - Remarkable! Do I sound excited ? You Bet I Am - about my 2014 AWD Buick Encore!

For those wandering why there is no armrest on the front passenger seat, it is because it was designed to fold flat for more cargo. Without that feature, there is enough room to have an armrest for the passenger. I think I would have preferred to have had an armrest on mine (Leather package with interior just like the one in this video, sunroof and Deep Espresso Metallic color) instead of the fold flat feature. I think it's better designed as a nicely equipped around town daily driver that seats 4 in style or 5 in a pinch. If I have to haul large amounts of cargo or long bulky items, i use my Silverado. if i have to transport cargo in inclement weather, I can use my HHR in which the rear seat folds completely flat leaving lots of room (much better than my Encore). I admit that it is unusual looking on the outside. People either love it or hate it, but everyone who actually sits in it and experiences the interior says that they now understand why I purchased it and they like it a lot. The interior is a different world. It's like night and day, the difference of the exterior and the interior.

Great car! I've had mine for almost a year now and still love it! Great gas mileage, sporty and classy. At 5'9" tall, I have plenty of room as does my wife who is the same height as me. We have a 12 year old and a 9 year old and they love the car too. Great for singles or families with young kids, but not as a primary car. My wife has a Chevy Captiva which we usually use getting groceries with the kids, or going on long trips with luggage. But for driving to work or just around town, the Encore is perfect for me.

Sara Sar I think you'll love this car, but you should still take one for a test drive first. It is a lot of fun to drive. My wife has a 2015 Chevy Equinox, and while she loves it, she still says she'll trade me for my 2013 Encore anytime I want (I don't want to, of course, but I let her drive it whenever she wants). Mine is a base model Encore while her Equinox has a few more bells and whistles and is also a few years newer, yet the Encore definetety rides over bumps much more smoothly. While her Equinox is a great improvement over her Chevy Captiva she used to have, it still does not have as smooth a ride as the Encore. The Encore also turns on a dime! I've never had a car with such a great turning radious! Backing up the car is a little tricky at times just because its so small. That's not a negative so much, though. I just have so much space between the parking lines that I sometimes don't back in perfectly straight when the parknig spots are at an angle. Straight in spots are much easier. You also have a backup camera that comes standard on most, if not all GM cars now, so that helps a lot. The only problem I can really mention with the car is that when switching lanes I have a worse blind spot than any other car I've had, but if you get used to using the little circular mirrors on the side mirrors, they help you see any oncoming traffice much easier. If you get a more expensive Encore I believe it comes with small cameras in the side mirrors instead of the tiny circular ones. That would be even better. Gas mileage is great also. After three years I still average about 29 MGP or so. My father-in-law recently tried to talk me into trading my Encore in for a new car, but I told him it would be silly because I would be starting all over with car payments for an identicle car! I love this car so much that I would get one just like it! The only way I would even consider trading it in is if I could afford another one just like it but with upgrades. Also, my mother-in-law has had two Encores since I bought mine and loved them both. My in-laws don't hold onto cars for very long because they like to trade them in for newer ones while they still have some trade-in value. Plus my father-in-law gets bored easily! LOL. Anyway, I'm sorry for being so wordy here, but I really do suggest you take an Encore for a test-drive. Let me know if you how you like it!

J.E. Rice ~ WOW, WOW, WOW!!! Thank you so much for the thoroughness and details of your as well as your family's experience with the Encore. No apologies necessary, I appreciate you taking the time in providing me with all your valuable information .... and I apologize for my delayed response! I have to admit I was getting a tad-bit discouraged with all the negative press about Buick (GM) because we bailed them out and then they went overseas, and are or have been sticking us with an inflated price tag. I then started doing some research on Nissan Rogues, but I tell you those Encores keep pulling me back in. I just don't care for the short boxy front end/hood look, but if everything fits under the hood then I shouldn't have a problem. Tee-hee. I do believe there will be an advantage for the short front-end when it comes to parking. My folks have an X3, and when I try to park it I seem to have challenges, but when I back it in, it's easier for me to park backing in. Maybe too is because I'm always backing in my vehicle. A smooth ride is definitely a must...the Nissan Sentra I have now at 243K miles has treated me well, and I thank God for allowing me to have it since '98, but I can feel every single solitary bump. I'm really looking forward to test driving this vehicle. It's just my size, I like the safety features, and it's elegance. I guess I don't need that much Horsepower??? Because it's lacking in that department. Anywhoo, thanks again for sharing and continue to have a wonderful weekend!!
@JERice7
@JERice7 8 жыл бұрын
Sara Sar I don't think you will find the low horse power to be an issue though. Unless you are used to driving something like a Camaro, the Encore comes with standard turbo which gives you a nice boost whenever you need it. I've had slower cars and faster cars than this, but this little car has the perfect amounth of get up and go for its size. Hope you enjoy the test drive!

Love the demo with the mountain bike. When I purchased my Sportage I rode to different dealerships and before I even took anything for a test drive I attempted to put my road bike in there. I found the Honda CRV the easiest with the fold-down rear seat levers in the back but went with the Sportage because of price, style, features and they offered the best trade for my 2010 Forte.

I really like the Encore, but it's really tough for me to imagine buying it for the price GM is wanting for it, for what it is. It's pretty much a dressed up economy car, just made into a crossover. It would be good for a single person or a couple with no kids who want something luxurious without breaking the bank. Great and honest review Dave, and once again, awesome legs! :)

Don't know what to tell you, but I have to say they seem to be selling like crazy. I live in LA and since August I've been seeing them all over the place. Someone must be buying them. I also don't think the low 30's for a fully loaded model is bad at all. Not that Honda, Nissan or Toyota competes with Buick, but their equivalents to the Encore are around the same price and aren't nearly as loaded or sharply trimmed. Just an observation.

The Buick Encore is in a class all its own. It's more of a subcompact crossover. The CX-5 & RAV4 are the more practical ones, but some won't need all the practicality (I don't know why...) However, I see this Buick slotted against the Nissan Juke, Subaru XV Crosstrek, BMW X1 and MINI Countryman. Weird comparison, huh?

I would've suspected that except every one I've seen has had temp plates sporting the local dealer it came from. In California it takes up to 60 days to get plates, so if these were coming from Enterprise, or some other company, they'd have had plates already minus the dealer's advertisement. I dunno. I see them. It's pretty clear they're not rentals, so someone is buying them. I don't know anyone who owns one, though. If I were in the market and wanted a CUV, I'd probably contemplate an Encore.

Not quite, but when I read well-researched cited documents I have a tendency to believe they must have some credibility. I don't know where you're at, but rentals in California do not run off of dealer advertisement plates, and they do have bar codes in the window on driver/passenger side--I should know--my car is in for service and I have a rental right now. Rentals with dealer's name and address? No chance. The companies buy from the Fleet Services Division, therefore no logo, name, address.

No, I gave you a comment, I just modified a spelling error and reposted lol. See below. You can maintain every one of them on the road is a rental if you like. I'm going to disagree. You can look at the sales reports in Google that are claiming sales are up every month since July rollout. You can also look at the part where it says, "excluding executive and fleet sales" and find that. lol. I have no stake in this--I'm just telling you what I see.

First its Korean built. Second it is way overpriced. Third its sibling the Captiva only got released to rental fleets and not to consumers to purchase but I guess now dealers are getting them in used from off rental and purchasing them at the auctions. GM just needs to diminish Cadillac and just have Buick GMC and Chevy only. Buick is reaching into Cadillac's prices and now Chevy is reaching into Buicks price ranges. Get rid of a franchise GM seriously do yourselves a favor before you bottom out

Gag me with a spoon, that's one FUGLY car. The Encore looks like the designers were going for something bigger and had their funding cut off before they were finished, The Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota RAV4, just to name two, are cheaper,ten times better looking and a helluva lot roomier and more practical than this bug-eyed cartoon car.
