I'm 6'2 and I'd say I'd actually be at the edge of having my head hit the backseat roofline. It's just right. The legroom is amazing. Driving it feels like I'm in a spacious car.

It's true. Id rather have the slightly less impressive mpg numbers but a low buy in and long term reliability. You'll spend less money in owning the vehicle when you factor price paid and repairs/maintenance.

The Corolla is economical, safe, reliable, roomy and inexpensive. It is the only car to have safety features standard on all trim levels. It also has the brightest headlights. Negatives is that has the slowest engine in the compact segment and handling is not good. Also, it doesn't have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Davin Peterson No, it does not have the slowest engine. it’s 0-60 times are actually very good for a CVT. Toyota statistically makes the best CVTs.

The SmartKey (push to start), sunroof and 7" Etunes plus infotainment system are optional on the SE - part of the premium package, but standard on the SE manual.

Even though Toyota rates the Corolla at 35 on the highway, I always exceed that by a large margin. I get 42-43 on the highway. So do others I talk to.

This is honestly what I don't understand. Ik everyone has their own opinions but why does it matter wether you have apple car play, or Android auto in your car, if u have Bluetooth. As far as I know every phone has Bluetooth. With Bluetooth u can connect your phone to the car. Isn't that the next best thing. Cut the car company some slack on that

During a two week vacation earlier this year, we had 4 different rental cars, two of them had the Apple Car Play. In the instance that we were tourists and didn't know the area, it was really nice to have to be able to have Apple Maps to use on the big screen. Otherwise, at home in my personal car, I just use the USB in my car (FIAT500). With my iPhone it shows the song info on the little tiny display, and I can control the tracks/volume/mute with my steering wheel buttons. So for traveling, it's great, otherwise to me seems unnecessary

exactly as long as I can stream Pandora through my phone I can care less about Apple car play or Android Auto but you can switch the radio yourself with a JVC Android Auto

This is why CarPlay didn’t matter to me. I connect to Bluetooth for my Spotify playlists or use XM. I also have built in navigation. It kinda sucks but it’s never for a long trip.

So I noticed that the manual doesn't have the "Sport" mode button on the center console like the CVT has. The car is actually quite quick with "Sport" mode activated It feels like it has MORE than just 132 horsepower.

sport button is on automatics so it keeps your revs higher, on manuals you do what you want with revs :)

I agree, I have a '19 Corolla SE (one of the last ones before the new design) and with the sport mode on I don't really have any complaints about the "lack of power".

Toyota definitely lied the car makes more than 132 horsepower. I just took ownership of a 2019 SE Aqua color a month ago. And I’ve raced cars that make 30 or so more horsepower on paper and have beaten them all things equal. I can tell you that this car moves way too easily for just 132 and that’s also with weight in the trunk and stuff. 132 is a weak amount of power and the torque is lower than that yet when you drive the car it picks up speed just fine. Transmission tuning isn’t the blame for that. I call it a four door Miata. It’s a sports sedan due to its handling it handles sharp drives really well. It’s not a rocket ship but it will get up to 80 for me just fine without sports mode. I just put my foot into the accelerator. I’ve driven a ton of cars in my life I can for sure say my senses tell me the power the engine makes is closer to 170 not a weak 132. It’ll walk a Prius for instance and that car makes more on paper.

I get 36 37 mpg on high speed highways like 70mph+ but on 55 mph roads I get 39 40 mpg and I have the xse Corolla

Problem is that they made the new one lower to the ground at a time when cars are getting taller. Even the Ford Eco-sport is basically a taller Fiesta and folks seem to prefer taller, easier to access vehicles.

@China Boss yes but my Prius doesn’t require me to have an affordable parts connect and a mechanic on speed dial. I’ve been able to do all the maintenance myself through KZbin tutorials and o’Reilly auto parts. Lol you can’t compare maintenance costs for a Toyota and bmw which are just too expensive for someone cheap like me to want to deal with. I’d rather have that extra cash for vacations, eating out, having fun. I can’t afford to throw my money away on a tool to get from a to b.

I spend a lot of time driving for my job and my 2018 toyota corolla can be summed up in 3 words that make it the best car I've ever owned. I've only ever owned Subaru's in the past, but my corolla is convenient, reliable, and safe. Toyota's just run and run and run. I'd also note the size on the inside is really impressive and it's pretty insane how low you can feel in the drivers seat. Literally almost like you're laying down. It's a really simple car, it doesn't have anything innovative about it. But, it's simplicity and the smart decisions by the engineers make this the most reliable car, which I can't say I could have made any better decision about creating a car that would last.
