What do you mean? People forget what p2w really means. That you can buy items only with real money and that is not the case in Lost Ark or T&L. Besides some people need to play the game, because to buy gold in Lost Ark, someone must sell his gold. So if nobody plays the game, nobody can cash to pay to progress himself.

You need people that play the game in Lost Ark and Throne and Liberty, because someone has to put the gear in the AH. If someone pays 5000 $ just to be a little faster or do 0.002% more dmg, i let them, because they pay the server cost for me. Throne and Liberty is a PvP Group/Zerg Game. Gear dosent matter if you are 200 People more than your opponent.

Dissolving a piece of equipment only gives you a small amount of one of the upgrade stone materials, which is a very easy powder to obtain by making contracts and is obtained in large quantities, breaking items to obtain an item that is not difficult to obtain is a nonsense

I think that any time a game gives you the option to pay real life currency to progress your character meaningfully (i.e. gear, leveling boosts, upgrade materials, etc), that is a pay to win system by definition. The question then becomes, to what degree is something pay to win? The latter, I think, is the more important question to be having since the former is already answered.

no one is struggling for sollant? You get 100-140k per hour in the level TWENTY open dungeon. Level 45 dungeon gives you 80k per run... By the time you finish the story quest and some leveling guide quests your well above 1mil sollant while still in green gear and some blues from the quest.. to transfer a +9 blue armor piece to a purple piece of gear it cost 300k. to transfer a weapon its about 900k. Youll have that money before you even have the purple gear unless ofcourse you die alot cause regaining ur exp back for like 20-30k each lol. Deaths in dungeons dont count towards this. I'm currently full Blue gear at +8/+9 and 3 purple pieces @ +6 with full epic skills. But with that being said I did spend 20 usd for the leveling guide pass that rewards you with extra mats per level.

The death penalty thing sounds interesting to me. I wonder if they will have something like "Life Insurance" , like ragnarok online. Where you If the character dies within the 30 minutes duration, no loss of EXP will be made. I'm quite sure I'm looking at some timestamp on the death menu, with timers like "9 days" and so on. I believe the penalty will be removed with time if the player doesn't have the currency to remove it right away (meaning, I believe it's not actually permanent).

Domt agree with the take on gear p2w gear progression not being a big deal as the hardest part is getting the drop. Solents are easy enough to farm and can do contracts for the other mats. Also another huge P2W is alot of your progression comes from skill upgrades. You can straight buy the harder mat to obtain of the two with real money. The game will fail massively if it releases in NA as it stands. He states its just like lost ark but in lost ark you atleast have equal arenas. Try doing events in TL with all the whales when more then half the events are forced pvp and also lose xp when you die. To regain said xp before the debuff you have to spend ridiculous in game currency.

pay to win or not it doesnt matter alot. what matters is whether you like the game, the grind, the mechanic etc.. at the end of the day the whale/territory owner will be againts the other whale, hardcore will againts hardcore and weaker players. everyone have its own matchups. every territory theres gonna be a whale and also casuals and hardcores. casuals to is needed for the economy, whale is for defending their territory and hardcore for the whale's army.

there is no such utopy of totally free-to-play game without any kind of PTG. The model in this game is closer to black desert than anything else... you can buy but if you want pay to WIN, youll have to pay a lot ! this keeps things in a more reallistic set up for people to invest in the game without breaking the balance unless you are loaded and at the end this will be beneficial for free players because they will be paying to keep the game alive for them.

It's not pay-to-win but rather pay-to-fast. It's the same shop system that I've already experienced on Undecember: you have to hope to find something good to sell otherwise you're forced to pay (and when you see others doing more damage... you buy). They could have bought gold instead of a new currency, at least it would have been fairer because it was a question of farming time. I'm quite disappointed.

Right now, this P2W system one of the best i ever seen, for last 10 years MMORPG gaming. I Hope they not add loot box and collection staff with bonus stats. Right now this is awesome, im full F2P player, have arround 4k lucent just from free drops. You can also craft gear and if you got lucky 20% chance to craft with great succes so you can sold item from auction. Every hour you spent in game, you got rewarded, so you can try compite with some P2W players.

Well I liked that video. And I do like that gear stating method. I think what it comes down to, of your thoughts, is how it will look like "past that". I am gonna make a guess that will result in roughly "Two Options" of what could happen. The way I see it. At End Game "stage one" (And here is the first "big if", which states Will Pay< for that next step and those that . And if that happens and continues... Now I know there obviously over time will be "catch up" mechanics as well (Point me a mmorpg without)... But will eventually "the time gap" in between those that pay to stay on top and those that do not... Increase to the point that is practically meaningless for those that do not pay, to play at all. I don`t know if I am being understood at all. My point is that at a current stage of this "Dual" progression. The Free to Play gamers become of participating in the "current online game" in regardless of the fact they play it. They are so stuck in outdated content, they are practically Path of Exile players at this point (no sorry that was mean and an inappropriate joke, that is possibly also not true at all). The game remains "fresh" even "new" only on Paid for Progress tier and Free to Play are participating in some meaningless outdated w8st of time. That is ~Sad. Now another thing is... if you like the game... you like the game... if the Graphics are Good... All the systems are solid (which as a bystander it seems to me they are). And you don`t mind practically never be able to do what`s seen on your "today`s" KZbin videos. Sure play Throne & Liberty as much as you want (for your region when it comes to it). No initial cost, no monthly fees... Trust me I understand that state very well... Even if players within the realm I get to somewhat experience it have proven me horrifically wrong for outdoing all my progress right up to current stages within comic short times and without paying. Of course the rest of this comment won`t be honest if I don`t "mention" or state even... that Yes... Because of the "Cross Over" of in game currency and paid with IRL money currency... there will be a lot of "Mixed Bag" Cases where players based on "Player skills and Abilities", but not in game ones, kind of and of course will be able to juice and accumulate and use enough paid currency "for free" to stay right up there with those that support themselves of their wallet capabilities. And of course the opposite is true. If you just dump money without knowing what you are doing with them, the chances are you won`t properly prosper solely of that either. If the game "allows" and ~promotes the second state... well than it is quite the Pay to Win one. Just one final "add on"... if the game remains in the first state of "it allows" and maintains "finalized" gear pretty soon... Well than I don`t think the tab target guild combats gameplay will be enough to make it last... Gear and Power progressions are very important "feeling" within a mmorpg for it`s players. It just have to be well done ~and somewhat "fare" (when monetization is involved).

So its basically a Lost Ark 1.0 where the only limiting factor is acrasium (daily/weekly gated) and every1 hated that system because if you missed some daily events you were always behind.

I can stand with p2w gear and shit but litterally making death penalties for ANY death that isnt pve give permanent debuff that can be taken away only by p2w currency is bullshit. You can talk about Lineage 2 which had something similar but you could use your adena to buy the scroll and remove the debuff, you litterally didnt have to swipe your credit card every 20 deaths to remove it. If thats how its going to be (atleast thats what i understood) this game is meant to die.
