in total agreement. 100% of DMVs in the USA teach how to follow rules and obey signs to avoid tickets. they also teach hesitation over anticipation. staying in the lines and going the speed limit will not help you in the car control department. you need to build yourself up and learn what your car is telling you at any moment, be it a normal low speed commute, or a high speed emergency. even a cheaper weekend-length evasive or defensive driving school will help there. but racing schools are far more comprehensive in teaching you how to read a corner and how your car reacts to sudden or slow inputs. my instructor at Bertil Roos racing school always told me not to look at it as a means to compete, but a means to gain safety. the moment the stop watch is running, or the drivers decide they want to be faster than someone else, they lose brain cells. EYES UP, BE SMOOTH have a nice drive.

Marc D woah easy with the logic police man, you see my idea was that this driving school thing would replace the current method of ataining a license, therefore making everyone a better driver to begin with. Which is logical. What is not logical is when you say that everyone would be safer if everyone is a doctor and providing that as a counter example to my comment as there is no way everyone could be a doctor, but there is a way to supplant the current divers ed with this driving school. It is illogical to say that because they have no corrolation to eachother and you assumed you knew what my logic was which you could possibly have as I provided nothing for you to assume I had any logic behind the comment at all. Pshh... Tellin' me my logic is off...

Your local SCCA or NASA chapter has a racing school just like this that you go through in your own car to get your race license. Usually under 500$ for 2 days of on track instruction and a 3rd day of in class learning. Support your local clubs! Jalopnik you should send a serious sim racer or club racer to one of the better schools to compare grassroots speed to pro racer speed. I have a race suit, just sayin'

@@mciarlillo Not sure if you've worked out how to get your SCCA license, but I'm in the process now, and the harsh reality is that a club run SCCA driver's school is going to be similarly expensive to one of the commercial schools. Why? Because the commercial schools provide everything you need to safely navigate a track. The SCCA club schools don't provide a car, or helmet, neck safety device, or fire-resistant suit. You can rent race car ($750-1500/day for Spec Miatas--a very popular race car to rent and race), and even if you get the least expensive racing suit/helmet/etc...it all adds up very quickly. Of course, once you have your own helmet and gear, it's yours to use in future events. Good luck with it all!

Start by doing local Go Kart racing to perfect your skills and then go into Gas Karts and doing racing series to perfect your skills more and possibly attract people to your driving if your winning races. You also need your Racing license, theres 2 basically like a local racing license and a international racing license by the FiA which is more important to start racing into formula 3. To get a Fia International license you usually need to go to racing school. All in total this cost alot of money to do.

It is not a specific class as a specific class for this combination does not exist. The chassis is a Ray GR11. It is a 2011 model that was built for British Formula Ford. British Formula Ford ran a few different Ford motors but were limited in displacement of 1.6 to 1.8 liters depending on the motor in the rules at the time. That chassis can be made legal to race Formula F in the US. The motor in the school car is built by Elite and is 2 Liters. Elite does motors for Formula Continental also known as F2000 in the US and I suspect it is that motor which is a Ford Zetec. F2000/FC runs wings and diffusers so the car would not be competitive there. I do not know if Ray made that car to be fitted with wings. So it is a combination of Formula F (no wings) and Formula 2000/FC (larger engine). Oh, and while some have commented that it seems expensive, there is nothing like driving a formula car. It is worth the money for that alone.
@ewlmotorsport67636 жыл бұрын
Actually, looks like the motor is the Mazda MZR Motor from Elite. Still 2 liters. Still enough to get your attention in that light of a car.
