Enjoyed your Video. I owned a 2006 & 2008 XB. First New Cars 👉I payed cash for. (2006 was 14K in 2005) ( 2008 was 18K in 2007 ) Cheap enough to pay cash......And my 2021 Highlander AWD Hybrid platnum was 58K cash 2020. My wife and I had to split the cost 38K & her 20K. Love them All. I gave the 2008 XB to my Brother as it did not get driven enough. Cars go down hill if they sit. I changed the oil every 3K miles. Toyota replaced the Rings as a Recall. I told them it was using oil and they tried to put extra oil in it and sealed it so I couldn't check it. When I asked them if they just put extra in it. they got scared I caught them when I asked to check it. They said the factory put the wrong rings in on some of the years of XBs. What I disliked on that car was the Projector lights gave very poor lights. The halogen lights got to hot and burnt the coating on the headlight housing. I tried LEDs that helped very little. I have low profile 19" BMW wheels with Tires in my Garage If you would like them. They are $$$$ Black VOX (10 spoke) chrome rims. I bought two cameras with a two view mirror for the XB and never put them in. My Daughter is now using on her M-Benz Sprinter Van. I wanted to mount the tiny camera in each of the small speaker boxes on the door. So they stay inside pointing to the blind spot on each side. And have the Monitor Mirror on the dash. Special Mirror that images could be fliped. I had a HUD (Heads up Display) on the Dash that projected on windshield > Speed, RPMs, Gas, It was great Cost me $35.00. The Factory one on my Hylander gives posted speed limits also. I would hate to be without it now. Make sure you keep the (Oil changed) and (all Air filters) ( Life Blood to car ) All the new Cars are loaded down with Oxygen sensors all over the Engine. They get dirty you will pay dearly, . Even over filling your gas tank can knock out a sensor and pump. Replace PVC valve, and Gas Cap if you start having any trouble. Cheap Fix. Toyota will replace them after charging you for stuff you never needed.

I still have my 2008 with a manual transmission my daily, it's a little over 200k miles now and it is still going strong. Bought it new at the dealer since 2008. Around 100k miles something Toyota replaced the short block for me for free due to burned oil. Other than that it has been very reliable. Just a week ago I had to replace the rack and pinion rack assembly and rear bearing hubs. What can you say it's over 200k miles. Always use Mobil 1 oil since day one. I used to have a first gen, didn't like it due to lack of power. Traded in for 2008 and loved it. Especially with the manual transmission.

LOL at the transmission/speed. That's why for me, "It's not a racecar, it's a bass car!" I've NEVER heard someone else mention the A-pillars! I've had more than a few occasions where I didn't see a pedestrian on the curb (luckily without any incidents). But that is DEFINITELY a thing with these (Oh and I'm getting ready to change the engine because of the oil consumption...be happy you were unaffected!)
@thebluexb3 ай бұрын
@@DaBadNewz Yeah i think the A pillars are a personal thing for me, but always something to be mindful of. Mine has burned oil in the past, but it’s inconsistent. Have you tried out a piston soak? Apparently it helps reduce consumption
@DaBadNewz3 ай бұрын
@@thebluexb unfortunately I think I wasn’t aware of the piston soak until it was too late. It’s not completely Toyota’s fault, I was kinda nonchalant about checking oil in between changes, and then spent WAAAAY more time “monitoring the situation” than trying to do anything about it…then it got worse! (Imagine that) Lesson Learned!

My 15 doesn’t burn oil. I have a 5 speed, pretty quick, too. I love it. Cool Army Rock (the brown) color. My only gripe is the low roof. Seeing above. Like traffic light, is a bitch. The Broadway mirror helped with back pillars. The fuel economy is so so. I’ll keep it a very long time! I love the interior, gauges, seat material design, space, good handling, and the 5 speed manual makes it more efficient as well as engaging.

The early and late year 2AZFE engines didn't burn oil. I used to have a 2003 Toyota Camry that had over 250,000 miles on that engine and it used a half a quart every 5,000 MI . That is quite acceptable. The mid-year engines that had the first generation of the low tension oil rings were the ones that would burn oil, but that was a problem if you used the extended oil change intervals. If you used a good quality synthetic motor oil and change the oil every 4000 to 5000 miles they would not usually develop an oil burning issue either. They fixed that problem with the revised piston design and the later versions of the engine stop having the oil burning issue. Your car has the later version of the engine.
@thebluexb4 ай бұрын
@@thatcarguy1UZ Yes, this is partly true! The earlier engines were better, especially those made between 2004-2006. Unfortunately, even after the revisions, oil burning problems persist. The TSB covers engines made up to 2015, so theoretically, every 2nd Gen xB can burn oil according to Toyota, including mine.

You mentioned the driver side sun visor. I had same problem. It was caused by me having one of those pouches to keep your driver license and registration strapped to the visor. The visor has an internal rachet (the click noise) that keeps it in place when pushed to the top. Appears the additional space caused by the add on kept it right on the rachet click spot. To fix it had to order a new one, got it from online toyota of colorado springs. It doesnt have that rachet click and fixed it grate but pricey, $80. Easy to put in, you can find another video about snap the plate on top outward then it pulls out. Tricky to get it back in tight and now it won't rotate to left but does stay in place fine. Probably because I did not push the insert in all the way.

I've taken my 2008 2 times from Maryland to Texas and New Mexico where I'm from. Just recently a cylinder finally broke. I'm sooooo sad. It is a manual and I prefer it. Over 145,000 mi. Burned through oil.

Got a 2014 and love it. Although the headliner rattle can drive me up the wall! lol it needs to be replaced. I really wish it came with a 4WD option like the Rumion has in Japan. So far my add ons have been; mud guards, bug guard, window vent shades, led everything, rear bumper protector, front TRD sway bar, K&N short ram intake, lowering springs, and I used to have a weapon R header and Borla dual exhaust, but removed them for a quieter ride. I also replaced the springs back to OEM since I was bottoming out a lot lol 1.5F & 2.5R drop will do that

I have a 2011 corolla s coming to 230,000 miles soon. Not that much issues but suspension is bumpy now compared to when new. I like the yellow fog lights.. I got yellow auxito bulbs myself for mines. I’m looking to get another newer car either a yota or a scion xd or xb series .. lowest mileage on scion as much possible and seen one xb like yours at 54k miles in a .. mehh a burgundy color. I’ve actually test drove an xb back in 2011 and seems very nice and though it was a scion.. it didn’t qualify to get the “before” sticker price with my moms employer on a Toyota (yea she consigned my credit was like fair).. so ended up getting the corolla instead.

I love Scion xBs! I first had a few first gens and now have a 2013 10 series. Do you have a link to where you purchased the tail lights? Also, I’m either thinking of getting the HPS short ram intake or the TRD cold air intake. There are videos to purchase each part separately to save money. Is your xB lowered? I was thinking of adding the rear sway bar, front strut bar, and TRD lowering springs. It’s my daily so I don’t want too harsh of a ride. Mine currently has 136K and counting. I upgraded the wheels and tires to Motegi Flow Form wheels with Conti tires. Keep up the great work with the xB content!
@thebluexb5 ай бұрын
Thanks! Imported the taillights from Japan. Either intake would be great! Mine isn’t lowered, I’m happy with the stock ride height. The TRD strut bar is discontinued, but you can still get a DC Sports bar, although I’ve heard they don’t make much difference in handling. The rear sway bar is amazing! I have a video on it if you’d like to check it out! 😊
