QUESTION: I have an old 2,004 Scion that for fun, I'd like to do some local camping just to see what it might be like before investing in a newer vehicle. Question: Your mattress looked like it was flat on the floor when viewed early on from the rear of the car. But when you changed it for seating, and the camera view was from the side door, you had storage space underneath the mattress? It wasn't flat on the floor anymore. I don't understand. Thanks for your video. I wanna try camping in my scion in my yard first. So I'll be setting things up much like yours to experiment. I love your video!

Thanks for the question. First, the mattress is a queen 4" memory foam topper cut in half and stacked. Also I have an updated design video for more ideas. So in order for the bed to be flat you need to slide the drivers seat forward. The last section of the bed platform is on hinges so it can then lower flat. You will need something there to support it. I used aluminum poles from an old beach umbrella. As an afterthought I would prefer to have the bed setup on the passenger side so I could still drive with the bed flat and ready to go if I'm solo.

I believe I did a way better job . I don't have some giant box taking up space but I still have the seat behind the driver seat and I can cook in my XB

Cool story Chett. Any video or proof? The "giant" box is the most important part of the car. Being a professional photographer it holds all of my very expensive camera gear, laptop and firearms. I have the box and numerous other security measures in place to ensure keeping my equipment. Don't be so shortsighted in the future.
