I had 35' muddies on my 80 series here in Australia, it was great offroad . Great for drowning out the missus whinging on road ...just turn and nod ,im not sure what she was saying. Fuel consumption was a win for me, i beat everyone,i used the most by far! The speedo was out but if you stayed 40kmh each side you were safe Sometimes id give my neighbour a lift to town I'd ask him about the road noise and he said it wasn't to bad much the same as his harvester, and he was a bit deaf from his younger days working in a sawmill.

The loudness test of these new tires is sort of pointless, because new mud tires start out relatively quiet and then will get much louder over time.
@Chobham8 ай бұрын
You are correct - I ended up getting these STT Pros, and they were relatively quiet new, but at about 15-20k miles in they got much louder. Now at 30k, they are REALLY loud! They *might* have another 7-10k miles left in them, and fear they could get louder. They are an amazing mud tire though...hands down.

i have the stt pros in a 35" on my jeep, have had them on it for over 2 years now and have over 40k kms on them. yeah they have some road noise but compared to a lot of other similar aggressive tread pattern tires they are quite quiet in my opinion. I have abused them thoroughly through mud, rocks, snow and water, and have driven them across Canada. Hands down they are the best tire i have ever used. i typically air down to 5-7 psi with my beadlocks and the amount of sidewall flex is unreal for how much traction the tire gets absorbing around rocks and obstacles.

On our 4runner when we went to 33's it actually made our speedometer exact on. Cause manufacturers actually set the speed a off for liability reason. You can easily lift the whole front end up using a block of wood and that jack where the little circle thing is on the skid plate, that way you don't have to do one corner at a time. Same with the rear, i lift by the rear differential using a thin block of wood to get the rears up quick.

Biggest thing you will see will be the hit to mpgs. Not that the LC gets great gas mileage in the first place but it will take a hit. I ran 31x1050r15 S/T Maxx on my 60 series for almost 5yrs (lasted me about 30k miles with lots of offroad trips) and they were great, a good compromise between the full MT tire and an AT. Only sucky part was that they didn't last as long as I wish they would have. They had great road manners, did perfectly offroad (two different trips guys in my club got flats, all running around 15psi and no issues with mine. Took a lag bolt to kill one of mine and that was through the sidewall) and it wasn't until probably 25k miles that they started to get loud. My 60 was not quiet by any means but had multiple offroad buddies impressed with how quiet they were. Just recently went to a more AT based tire with the Cooper AT3 XLT, they have been awesome over the last month or so of driving, but the biggest improvement was the gas mileage. Gained almost a full two miles per gallon avg. over the S/T Maxx (going from around 9.5 to just over 11mpg) and that was with only a 5lbs. per tire difference. So just image what an extra 20lbs PER TIRE will do to the rotational parasitic drag. Also, with regards to running AC vs. having the windows down, an engineer roommate in college did a drag coefficient study on this (mind you this was 1998). He found in his experiments, research and study that the difference between the two was almost negligible. The main factors that played a larger role were the overall health of the engine/drivetrain and the tires.

These are the tires I really want for my FJ Cruiser but didn't have the money last August when I replaced the horrible Dune Grapplers the previous owner had installed. I was making my trek back to Colorado and Moab and I know they would be good there as well as muddy conditions in Ohio/Kentucky. My #1 reason is similar as I wanted an American-made tire and with Cooper being based in Ohio I want to support companies that employ fellow Ohioans and Cooper has really grown in quality in the off road community. Since I couldn't afford them at the time I went for some Cooper ATP's as they were on sale and would be fine for out west but the shop made a mistake and installed another customer's AT3 4s (285/70-17) and since they were swamped they let me have them for the same price. While they were an amazing tire for the drive and off-roading out west I would have preferred the STT Pro's for my trip last weekend to Athens County Crawlers Off Road Park as it was a bit greasy. Although I will say they held their own with others and their mud tires as long as I kept them spinning at rev limiter in the gooey sections. Great review and love the Land Cruiser.

I have these same tires, size and everything on a 10th generation F150 4x4 Supercrew and have trouble with them chunking.... Definitely going Nittos next time around. Btw, should have gone lettering out on your rig 🤙

I'm looking at these for my Tacoma but I want to try to stick to 255/85R16s and they aren't made in that size. Might do Toyo MTs until I decide on cutting metal for 34/35s. Also, where's your jack stands? a hydraulic lift alone is definitely not safe.

Great video! Just curious are those tires LT? And if they were did you notice a huge change in ride comfort?

I just got my 99 100 series and love it. 189k and I'm doing the timing belt and water pump just in case. What size of tires are those? I got 285/70/16 right now. No lift

I guess you have 285/75/16 That's what I have on my 17 tacoma with a leveling kit.
