Thank you for this list! I always look forward to your reviews because they help a lot to determine what to watch or buy next, so I will definitely watch your reviews of these. However, I find myself not really interested in a lot if those movies at first glance. Growing up in a time where lesbian movies were rare and hard to actually watch/buy, I have fallen into this attitude of "I am not allowed to complain about lesbian movies because I need to be thankful for all the crumbs I get". And I think at the ripe old age of 30 it's time to grow out of that and admit that I am tired of a lot of things lol. Male creators of lesbian media, yet another show/movie about underage girls or young women (yes thats important and great but i feel like women vanish after they turn 35 or something), assault and heavy violence against same sex attracted women being depicted in graphic detail, yet another coming out or overcoming homophobia story (also very important! but again, would love something different sometimes), a lot of heterosexual activitiy in supposedly "lesbian" media, so many bi characters being declared lesbian (I am bi myself but I only consume lesbian romance media and I am tired of this) and so on. I own well over 40 lesbian movies and I won't stop collecting them but a lot of my newer purchases were a bit disappointing. I somehow feel like there should be more movies by same sex attracted women for same sex attracted women with good budgets and out of the box ideas by now. And there are some of those but I don't know. Maybe I am just grumpy and old lol

​​@@dusquita Recently I enjoyed "saving face" (very sweet and funny, focusses on an asian american community and has a lesbian protagonist and love story), "summerland" (focusses more on the connection between a woman and a young boy who has to live in her cottage during the London Blitz but the main character is a lesbian and there is a love story and a happy end. One other female character is bi though), "portrait of a lady on fire" (sadly not a happy ending), "the watermelon woman" (classic from the 90s, a black lesbian searches for an unnamed black actress she spotted in several old movies), "Kommt Mausi raus" and "alles wird gut" (two german movies from the 90s, one about a really sweet coming out story and one with a cute love story and a focus on the afro german community in Hamburg), if these walls could talk 2 (three stories about lesbians from different decades. An old couple in the 50s/60s where one of them dies, a young butch/femme couple in the 70s and two married women in the 2000s trying to get pregnant), tipping the velvet (there is one gross part I really hate about this movie where the supposedly lesbian protagonist, dressed as a boy, pleasures men for money. Otherwise I like the movie), Olivia (french movie from the 50s/60s (?) about a girl falling in love with her headmistress, who has a toxic relationship with the second headmistress. BOLD movie for the time lol). I also really loved "Tove" but Tove Jansson was obviously bisexual (the movie focusses heavily on her relationship with a woman though). I am currently looking forward to watching blue jean! As a teenager I loved movies such as but i'm a cheerleader and loving anabelle but I would have to rewatch them to tell how much I like them now. What I would want more/less of: less coming out stories, more butch representation, more lighthearted love stories where homophobia isn't the main obstacle, older characters (40+) without the story focussing on age/aging that much, less violence etc. I am sure I missed a bunch but those came to mind spontaneously. Most likely some other women will hate these lol but taste can be very different.

i think the kstew movie is supposed to take place in the 80s, so they were trying to give her a mullet. for some reason hairstylists aren’t good at recreating 80s mullets nowadays. maybe they used different hairstyling products back then. i love a good shaggy wolfcut though. women don’t always have to look neat and proper

I'm actually looking forward to Drive Away Dolls. Ethan Coen (+his brother) often make good movies that are anything but bland. Fingers crossed he doesn't mess up the Sapphic part.🤞 Although, let's be honest, there's a 50% chance of him burying at least one gay.

Rose Glass directed "Love Lies Bleeding." Coen directed "Drive-Away Dolls." And yes, someone's gonna die, but given the comic tone in the trailer, I don't think it's gonna be the lesbian protagonists/heroes. And that's a good thing.

Thanks for the heads-ups! I watched the trailer for "Drive-Away Dolls." Looks very funny. Cast is great, including Margaret Qualley, Beanie Feldstein and Pedro Pascal. Director Ethan Coen says he hopes it will be the first in a lesbian B-movie trilogy. Opening late Feb in theaters only.
