And we're back - 2024 is here and while we don't expect it'll be quite as jam packed at 2023, there's stil plenty of stuff to look forward to. Here's a look at some of our top picks, plus a few things we're...less excited for.
Note: this episode was recorded before the news broke of 1900 Microsoft gaming staff losing their jobs. We'll likely cover that next episode.

Let's meet our hosts:
- Jake Baldino (aka the Before You Buy Guy) is pretty much the most watched reviewer on KZbin across both Gameranx and his personal channel ( / jakebaldino . If you're obsessed with Delorians, The Mummy and Pizza you can discuss that stuff with him directly over on Twitter: @JakeBaldino
- Lucy James is a Senior Producer at Gamespot and a Creative Producer at Giant Bomb. She's actually, like, experienced and credentialed and has real life skills and stuff, while the rest of the gang would be funemployed if the YT algorithm didn't kiss them for random, inexplicable reasons.
- Skill Up used to work at McDonalds but he got fired for skimming too many chicken nuggets. He says he regrets it since he hasn't had a better job since.

I think the issue with this topic is that no matter how many times we explain in great detail what "woke" is as an ideology, normies (and it is normies because leftists have an agenda set in stone they're trying to push and willing to be as subversive as possible to do so) can't or just out-right REFUSE to understand it. To them it just means "liberal" and leftists have the monopoly on terms like "diversity" and "inclusion" and will gladly use them to mask their intentions. So any time you do point out what they're doing, they can just yell: _"YOU JUST DON'T LIKE MINORITIES AND WOMEN!"_ and normies just consume it because it's easier than thinking any deeper and instilled fear of being labeled a buzzword they know they aren't for merely questioning something. To explain in great detail to any normie watching THIS is what woke means: *1.)* To get things straight, woke was originally a term used by the black community to mean EXACTLY what you think it means. The leftist belief of systemic racial oppression and the "evils of whiteness" or how every white person is out to get them over in one way or another. Regardless of your beliefs on that (I personally think it's COMPLETELY wrong and insane on all levels, but that's a whole different argument), it's STILL not a "progressive" or even harmonious term. It OPENLY encourages racial hatred and division. So there's that. *2.)* It was then stolen (ironically enough lol) by white leftists and expanded to ALL groups united under the concept social justice and used (mainly) against what they deem as the most "privileged" and evil group to ever exist, straight white men. But also splinters off to divide straight from LGBTUVWXYZ, blacks from whites and men from women even further. Why? To not just flip the perceived power dynamics of those groups, but instill Communism. All subversively through the quise of "progression," "inclusion," & "diversity." TLDR - It's a secretly self-aware racist/sexist/bigoted authoritarian ideology born out of spite & revenge to flip perceived cultural/economic/societal power dynamics of various identity groups. And they will go as far as historical revisionism and inject needless one-sided divisive politics into media to berate/lecture/shame/condition people into compliance. A struggle session basically. If that wasn't a detailed enough explanation of what "woke" is for some people's small brains, I'll even use two REALLY popular examples of it in media and break them down: *Barbie* - A historically revised, factually inaccurate, tone def, contradictory role reversal of gender politics in America that paints it as an oppressive patriarchy where women literally aren't allowed to do anything or are held back by men. If you have a brain, don't have a victim complex and know the FULL history of gender politics (and dynamics too for that matter) in this country, I really should've have to explain how insane this film's rhetoric is. Without going on a detailed tangent of everything factually inaccurate, I'll sum it up with a question I want some to ACTUALLY try to answer for me... Do the Barbies have to sign up for the draft in order to vote? I genuinely want to know because men did (and still do) in order to have that right, women don't. *Get Out* - Jordan Peele's racist one hit wonder (it really is, don't even bother, I'm not hearing it) about... Well... The OG woke meaning lol. A film about not trusting whites because they're all out to get you in one way or another. And before anyone says, yes I know it's about white liberals/leftists... That makes it even worse lol. Why? Because if THAT'S how black leftists view their white allies, then logically you OBVIOUSLY can't trust a conservative (which somehow means "racist" & "sexist" to leftists) white either by default. I guess the ONLY way someone left-leaning could TRY to defend this film is say that whites who are apolitical or want nothing to do with politics can be trusted? But not only does that then box white people out having ANY political opinion (so successfully removing them from any LARGER political discussions in the country out of fear of being labeled racist), but whites aren't even allowed to be that either. White silence is violence, correct? It's basically that meme chart of _"If a white person does it, it's bad."_ Is it finally clear?

I dont feel like the DCV took away the fun, more like the game was getting stale and repetitive around the time the DCV happened. If IO, Titan, the Red War, and Leviathan were still in the game with no updates would it really add that much more to the game? Personally I dont want the old stuff I'd like a huge shake up

@svenskhund3603
@svenskhund3603 5 ай бұрын
@@endub6551If there were meaningful rewards for playing them? You bet your ass it would add to the game. People don't really play content soley for fun it's primarily grinding to get to the fun stuff. Having more options to earn powerful and meaningful loot can give purpose to older content. We already have prime engrams for current story missions, why not make more playlists for older campaigns? Give powerful rewards for escalation protocol completions as well. Have old raids give decent rewards without it having to be between just 2 everyweek. It's not a ridiculous ask in the slightest. An MMO (even an MMO lite like destiny) is supposed to be a constantly growing environment, where content is added and not taken away.

Regarding Enshrouded, one of the reasons that survival games are so popular is that players want a world they can live in for a while. Also the building systems are a 3D art media. People who play like that don't want the game to be over. As soon as you finish, your awesome base feels pointless. So i think it's a mistake to think of it as an action rpg that you just want to complete. Rather, you can keep building cool bases that you sculpt out of the landscape, while you alternate that with forays into the vast map.

Welcome back guys!! ✌ For a Myst-like puzzle game, I would HIGHLY recommend Quern: Undying Thoughts. 3D exploration, medium to complex puzzles and a fascinating limbo, out-of-time atmosphere in the environments!

Lucy is right about The Traitors show. I never heard of it before but I ended up watching the first episode of the US version randomly one day and got hooked. Ended up binging the entire series the Australian and UK versions too cause I wanted more after finishing the US version. The show is 🔥

New episode! Hell yes! I'm really looking forward to Eastward's dlc in two days, Unicorn Overlord in March and maybe in Spring the Paper Mario remake. Dragon's Dogma kicked my ass so I bounced off it quickly. I hope the new one has difficulty settings. I also really hope we'll get Wolf among us 2 and finally a Ghost of Tsushima 2 reveal. Oh and about the Little guy games: Check out The Cub, Jake! It's like Limbo meets a Gorillaz music video. I'm so pumped for Infinite Wealth after Lucy gushed about it.

Enshrouded definitely has enough in it. I'm 50+ hrs in and still loving it. Once you upgrade stuff it becomes even better, you didn't speak about the SHROUD and the building materials are incredible. PLUS you don't get "Encumbered" which you wanted from a survival game, plus you have magic. Come on Ralph
