One additional tip regarding those Glühwein mugs if you see one with a nice design and plan to keep it as souvenir. Usually after returning them to get your deposit back, they will be cleaned and later reused for the next customer which means over time they might get cratches etc in their surface. So if you see one with a good design and you want to take it with you, please let the store owner / seller know when buying your Glühwein. Usually he will then get a really new one and fill it up for you, which doesn't have any marks, scratches etc. of previous usage.

I asked politely a few years ago when the deposit amount was even lower and got the information that way. Many of those mugs have the actual year engraved in the design, so they won't use it the next year anyway. Its at least worth a try. At least thats where I live, can't speak for any Glühwein hut seller. :)

Netter Versuch. Üblicherweise dient das Pfand dazu immer genügend Gläser/Tassen im Rücklauf zu haben, da ansonsten der Standbesitzer Gefahr läuft irgendwann ohne Gläser dazustehen und das Getränk dann direkt aus dem Zapfhahn in den Kaufinteressenten füllen zu dürfen. Rechtlich ist die Aneignung der Pfandtasse übrigens Diebstahl. Identisch wie beim Mitnehmen des Einkaufswagen im Supermarkt. JFTR. BTw, Egg-Nog ist eher (Norddeutscher) Eierpunsch statt Eierlikör.

Feuerzangenbowle is not a specialty from Düsseldorf.You can get it on other markets too.There is a famous movie called like that from the 1940s with Heinz Rühmann.Well, famous in germany.

6:40 Tarte is French. So the "e" is not pronounced. The correct way ito do it is "tart" with a pronounced "t". Because of the "e" following it. It means "Torte" in German where we pronounce the "e" again.

Ich bin so froh, dass es dir gefallen hat! 🥰 Meine Mutter hat sich noch nicht erholt, aber es geht ihr mit den Krücken schon viel besser und sie kam heute sogar die Treppe runter! Christmas Markets are nice but if crowded than more like a American Football challenge ...with nice options for food and drinks 🙂

If you think that this Christmas market is crowded I've actually seen significantly more crowded ones. Nürnberg for example. A quite typical treat on Christmas markets and fair grounds is "Magenbrot" (literally stomach bread). It's ginger bread sold in pieces of about the size of a small matchbox which are covered by glacing of sugar and spices (mainly cinnamon). Thank you for that nice and funny video, Jenna !

Are there Christmas markets in Canada too? If so, which is the biggest and most beautiful one you know? Which one would you recommend?

There are! But mostly inspired by Germany and they're only recently becoming a big thing. I've only ever been to the one in Toronto, Canada, which was nice but nothing comparable. I would guess Kitchener, Ontario probably has a good one too since there are TONS of Germans living there too.

I really liked christmas markets until I once worked at one when I was a student. Really, you hear christmas songs all day, every day. After a while it's like torture, you start counting the days until it will be over, and every morning you curse yourself about that bad job decision of yours. However, it was well-paid for a student job, and we got Glühwein and hot chocolate for free from our friendly neighbors.

Nein 🤭 Eigentlich sehr wenige! Wir lernen ein bisschen Französisch in öffentlichen Schulen, aber wenn sie nicht in einer „Französisch-Immersion“-Schule sind oder in Quebec leben, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit groß, dass sie nicht viel Französisch können.
