Would be fun to explain to the internationals the german meaning of "Du Honk!", too. 😉😂 Have a great, long, Pentecost weekend. 👋

Haha, when you said Germans have this mechanism, I understood "meckernism", and would also very accurate 😅😅 Also, all of these points are so, so true!

Complaining is German "Leitkultur" (as a German, I really wish it wasn't, it's exhausting :( ).. Strangely, this is never mentioned by those who always want to talk about Leitkultur.

What do you mean you "need" pickup trucks in Canada lol? The people I see driving them are, like, oil and gas engineers, not people working on a farm. The part about complaining-as-small-talk made me laugh, its very much a thing in France too.

I vividly remember your community post when you reached 10,000 subs. You were soooo exited! And look at you now, going strong on the magical mark of 100,000. Thanks for sharing what amount of work, thought and equipment you put in your videos. And I could see how much you were affected by being so open - at one point your hands were actually shaking. But I don't think you'll have to worry all that much about giving tips and ideas to copycats. There's one thing they can't replicate and it's the one asset you failed to mention, though it's your most valuable one: YOU. By being who you are you created a brand that can't be randomly replicated. Those of us who follow you for quite some time now stay with you mainly because we like you as a person and you always seem to rub our interests of a life as an expat juuuust the right way. I'll regard my life as being as success if I'm able to get you to like "Mettbrötchen mit Zwiebeln" after all. Though granted, the chances are less than slim...😁🫶🫶 Congrats, Jenna!!!🎆🎉🎊💛

Remember that Germans are like Vulcans. When a Vulcan tells you your work was adequate, it's like winning the Nobel prize. 😄 And then there are the Swabian Vulcans, of course. Not complaining about you is praise enough. 🙃 I guess US-Americans are more like the Ferengi. NO TAXES! NO UNIONS! NO REGULATIONS! A religion based on commerce. Capitalist heaven... I don't know where to place Canadians, though. But Shatner is Canadian, so there is that. 😄

I am very sorry for you. What a sad day. I had that experience in the Ausländer Behörde in Italy as a young German living there in the 90's. They treated everyone very badly. We had to stand in a line for 4 hours without private space, 40 degrees Celsius. The staff loved to see us suffering. I imagine every Ausländer Behörde is not a great place to be. You need thick skin o yes!

I can 100% relate to the comments you made about getting old in Germany and the things that scare you, exactly the same here. I have been 11 years living just outside Munich and love it here, happily married etc. But the thought of getting old, living in a retirement home, getting dementure, not being fit enough to travel back to the UK to see my sons etc, all VERY scary. Thank you so much for putting this out there, MUCH appreciated!

I think I have the same problem with the grammar in english because, although I learned english at school, not much of the grammar deepend enough for me to actively use it. After school I learned most of the englisch I now know through listening. So every time I'm speaking english I'm wondering whether it is grammatically correct🙈

regarding cooking: I think it is not so much about being afraid of a bad dish. Restaurants are pretty good and authentic in Germany, but rather that eating out all the time is VERY expensive in Germany. Germans are caring a lot about their health(healthy diet waves) and want to save money so they like to learn how too cook - it is just a very convenient skill. And men who cook tend to care more about health in general so you 2 have excellent husbands/boyfriends. In contrast to Asia where cooking is taught in school, this is not taught in Germany so there are still a lot of people that can not cook ot simply don't want to cook in Germany ;) In Asia much men can cook, but choose not to because eating out is very cheap or better said it does not make much of a difference whether you eat out or cook yourself except for the effort you have to put in, so many asian men/people choose to eat out because it is more convenient.

I was calling my close friend who moved on Germany. She told that she feel belongings there. A job and its facilities that offer are over the worth it. But yeah, we should make ourselves very safe to face the society life style that far away from Asians principles.

Oh thanks for being so honest about how rude Germans can be. No common sense when they are in a position of power. The idea is really to make foreigners feel like s**t, which renders them arrogant. Is crying to that nasty behaviour considered to be a desired response, otherwise you are deemed not to understand their culture? Sounds like lynching to me!

I can only speak for myself, born and raised in the Ruhr district but living most of my life near the North Sea coast: American style pancakes I cannot eat. I tried them - but even less sweetened they are way too sweet and I need old savoury cheece (or something like that) to get my mouth and stomach back to function again.

I've been living in Germany for over 30 years. Friendliness and Service are none existent. Difficult to find someone who's not nor look belligerent. People are generally very rough, sour and bitter. The more in the north you go, the colder and stricter are the people. And I will never go to the East. A friend of mine who was a musician and travelled to the EAst to give a gig said, he comes from Harlem but he's never been so scared in his life during the days in the East. He got chased from Neonazis and no one helped him. I'm waiting for the day my husband retires and kids are out of the house so I can get out of here. If you are a minority, you'll get treated even worse.

Great video, very raw and down to earth! 🤗 I am a German expat living in Canada and both my kids grew up here and I feel your pain being away from your family. We travelled to Germany 1-2 times a year from when my kids were infants but it’s not quite the same, but having them grow up as global citizens with dual citizenship is a good trade off in my view.
