Iconic. Controversial. Pioneering. Katharine Hepburn was a lot of things - but, above all else, she was unconventional. So it makes perfect sense that her will would be just as unpredictable as her life and career!

Thank you for remembering Hepburn one of my favorites of all time as far as I’m concerned. She was wonderful, full of purpose and determination and boy did she filled the screen for me. I knew where she lived in Manhattan, I worked 2 blocks from her townhouse but I only went to see it once. I had promised myself and her that day that I would never again invade her privacy, instead in the spring and summer I would go to a little park that was in the neighborhood for lunch and would keep an eye out for her. I could never have approached her due to my promise but it would have been a highlight nevertheless in my life if I would have been given just a moment to have seen her in the flesh. Yes I was in love with her since I first saw her on screen, she was a good 20 years older than me by then but I’m still in love with her and shall remain so for the remainder of mine. She was someone that I wanted to emulate not in riches and fame but in her strength of will, her belief in herself and what she believed was right and wrong for her. She followed no one and danced to the beat of her own drum. What a woman!

Hello , if you are a true fan perhaps you may know, why on earth, Katherine visited my home town of Morecambe, ( pronounced More-cam. ) England in, probably the 50s/60s. It was rumoured she had family in the area and she was pictured, with Spencer Tracy, at a house my parents purchased at a later date. I have always been curious, so it would be great if someone could tell me.

It amuses me when people say that Spencer was a "devout Catholic". If true, would he have had an affair for 25 years with another woman? How "devout" is that??

They were both gay! Their relationship was a close friendship where they covered for each other for years with the public. Tracy was Catholic so the guilt was terrific and a motivating factor in his alcoholism. They were better actors than the public dreamed of and they were both terrific.

She used to go to the Hotel San Juan in Puerto Rico yearly in Winter, where I met her in around 1974 in the Lemon Tree Cafe at 3 am. I was at a formal party and had gone down from the ballroom for a snack to eat with my date. I waved and she asked in her unmistakable voice if I knew her and I responded I'm a fan! My mother is too! She loved her Mother and Father, she loved her siblings, she had a few flings but the ultimate love of her life was Spencer Tracy....he was in her own words a difficult man but she found him " totally irresistible". She placed her own comforts on the side just to accommodate his on and off personality. He essentially abandoned his wife and deaf son and that somewhat ate him up.He supported them but with his religious roots...it was never enough. She understood and became good friends with his daughter Susie ( I think) after he passed...

Their relationship was a sham. They both hid their real sexuality for decades. Kate was well known as a very staunch lesbian. It’s also said she carried on a decades old relationship with her assistant. This type of scenario was repeated many times in Hollywood to keep face. Sad, but true.

Her grandfather Sewell Hepburn was an Episcopal priest at Christ Church I.U. in Worton, Maryland - where he once served as rector. I.U. stands for Isaac Usilton - who donated the land and paid for the church to be built upon it in the mid 1700s. Katharine was my 9th cousin, 7x removed. I never met her, but greatly admired her from afar. The most appalling event in her life was to find her older brother hanging by his neck - lifeless in the barn. It was most likely a stunt gone awry. She cut him down, and ran out into the street to find a doctor. Bless all of them as they rest, awaiting the general resurrection... 🌷

@@suzanneribas3746 That's a wonderful story and memory! I've met a couple of celebrities who were not very nice in person. But two others were very kind indeed. Met Jack Benny at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs when I was a teenager during breakfast. He invited my whole family over to his table while he waited on his grandchildren to come downstairs. My mother was so starstruck I thought she was in a coma! In my twenties I met Lauren Bacall in the hallway of the Dakota Apartments in New York City. I was at a party, and had stepped into the hallway to drop the trash down the chute. She was so sweet - and was going inside to take an aspirin after a boring dinner party. 🤩

Still one of my all time favorite actresses and a fellow Yankee New Englander with part Scottish ancestry! Just watched the fabulous "Lion in Winter" with the late great Irish actor Peter O'Toole! Named my first born daughter who is 46 now after my late beloved mother, Eleanor, and also named her for 'Eleanor of Aquitane", a French queen who married English King Henry and named her after Kate, the Great here, too, Katharine, both redheads as well! Mostly English/Scottish/Irish and French ancestry on my maternal side per our DNA tests, written and oral history. Thanks Grunge! BTW, her beloved older brother's death was an accident, not a suicide and he was trying out a trick they had seen in a recent show that went horribly wrong. That also took place at their aunt's home in an upstairs bedroom in Greenwich Village, NYC, not in a barn. May they rest in peace~ ♥♥

Personally I First Remember seeing Ms. Hepburn in Late 1969 or possibly 1970. IT was in The Lion in Winter, The Film about Henry the Eighth's Story. Her Portrall of One of His Wife's was just Fantastic, and 🙂😊 I'm Lol, Remembering & thinking 🤔🤔 about it now that I was maybe 11-12 when I First saw it. In Recalling Katherine's Acting. Whatever she was in? She gave it Her absolute All or it was Nothing at all 😂🤣. I Guess? Her being in On Golden Pond was My favorite Film of Her's or Rooster Cogburn & The Lady. The Choice is Hard for Me too make still. And I just Recalled that She was Excellent, & Fantastic. Opposite Humphrey Bogart. In The African Queen 👑👑👑 Film of Course!!!! Alas She was a Great, Great, Talent & One Helluva Woman To Boot. May She RIP, & May God Bless Her. Thank You whoever for Closing Her Life up.

1. KATHARINE HEPBURN DID NOT HAVE PARKINSON'S. She has what is called a familial or essential tremor. It is inherited. She inherited it from her grandfather. 2. THE CHURCH IN MARYLAND. That was the church her grandfather - her father's father - was minister. This grandfather had the essential tremor he passed down to KH and other relatives. 3. CYNTHIA MCFADDEN was named executor of KH's will by KH 4. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY was written for her by playwright Phillip Barry. Ex-boyfriend, Howard Hughes, bought the screen rights as a gift for KH because he and KH both knew the Hollywood studios would not give it to her to play

She was a lesbian. She lived with women. Her career would have been over if word got out so the love story with Spencer Tracy was invented. Rock Hudson was forced to marry by the Hollywood moguls. It lasted 4 years. All kinds of stories about the gays were published so no one would know. The only actor who refused to give up his lover was William Haines. Her father received her salary and gave Hepburn an allowance until he died. He also performed a tubal ligation on her as he decreed that she couldn’t be an actress and a mother. She also was in thrall to a hopeless alcoholic, Spencer Tracy, sometimes sleeping on the floor outside of his hotel room. They shared a cottage for 25 years with him but after he died, his wife came and cleaned out the cottage. She really wasn’t much of a feminist just a rather peculiar opinionated person.
