On the Asian market, that car is called a “Vios”. And btw, Toyota made new generations of that. It just wasn’t offered to the American market. My guess is because it will eat into the market share of the Corolla. The newer Vios is so well equipped and not that smaller than the Corolla, way cheaper, so that’s why it’s one of the best selling cars in Asia.

Hello Scotty, I need to correct you. The red Yaris with the black roof that you showed (Yaris Mk3, XP13, 2010 thru summer 2020) is made by Toyota in France. I have one. And in contrary to all prejudies it's really well made; not much to complain. 😉👍

Haha yeah I put it on at a friends house because their driveway has quite an incline. When I left I forgot to take it off, then 3 miles later I start hearing a scraping noise, called my hubby (owner of Yaris) and was like I have no idea what’s going on. 2-3 more miles later I look down as it’s still scraping and go, “....Oh. 😂”

I'm a bit surprised it didn't cause transmission, bearing and brake warpage problems. Often does with the brake engaged. The full sized Cadillacs have rear disk brakes and water loves to get into where the mech brake goes into the brake. 120K miles or so if you set the brake and it can stick. It doesn't take long before the rim is very hot. It'll boil water. Do that long enough and it'll fry the transmission.

Love you Scotty, I have had nothing but positive experience with my Nissan Xterra and Frontiers, not sure you can say Toyota’s are ten time the car. I do a ton of 4x4 overland my Nissans have been dead reliable and like the way they drive. I do Agra’s About the Nissan cars but their trucks have easily been getting 200,000 miles , my 80 series Toyota didn’t make it the far.

Interesting. Those were sold and built here in the Philippines as the Toyota Vios (that one being the 2nd gen) while the Yaris was a separate hatchback only model (the current Yaris is just a hatchback Vios here)

Back in '94 I rented a U-Haul and car tow. Forgot to release the parking brake on the towed car. Drove about 30 miles, got out of the U-Haul and noticed the plastic center rear wheel caps had melted off!

I had one of these for college. My mom still has hers. BULLETPROOF ENGINES!! Sure the car is built on a budget but I had mine all through college (5 years) and other than changing the battery, breaks, shocks once, and oil, the thing never broke down. I was a broke college student so sometimes I'd put $5.00 or $6.00 of gas and the little guy would sip on it. To be fair I walked to campus but, I'd have to drive at least 40-50 minutes to get to my college town. I now have one of the Mazda produced Yaris 2018 and I love it.
