The beginning of Ford's demise was when Ford retreated from the car market to focus on trucks and SUVs - in my opinion. Most young people's first vehicle purchase is a car - so you lose the brand loyalty war when you got out of the car market. Not to mention the 25% of the market that wants a car and would like to buy American - like myself - I love the Ford Fusion but they will eventually all be gone. 😢
@Michael-ur5qb8 ай бұрын
Agreed. I don’t get in a world where Apple makes cheaper products to sell to youths to start brand loyalty early you suddenly think your company is the exception. Meanwhile, small cars and sedans are up (if they are reliable). I don’t get not at least having one car, especially when the cars shared platforms. Your telling me the Bronco Sport, Maverick and Escape was a better investment than Bronco Sport, Maverick and say Focus (sedan and hatchback). Meanwhile, rewind to 2016 and 600k cars were being sold. Even The Focus RS was selling better at the time than the Type R. I don’t get why they left other than greed and search for profit but than Covid pointed out what happens when your line up isn’t diverse enough.

Went to get up to speed and lost all power of everything, the radio, lights, I hit the gas and nothing! Then all of a sudden I got power back and was able to get up to speed and to work. Freaked out a little. Talked to some coworkers about it, they said I should get a new battery. I did. Hasn't happened since. Good thing is I can do all the work myself cept the windshield which is only a couple hundred bucks. Also a big consideration is the price increase of full coverage insurance for these expensive trucks. Should do a vid on insurance costs on new vehicles, especially the EVs. The problem with the EV market is unless you have a car that does as much as and costs as relatively little as a Tesla, you ain't gonna sell anything. And if Tesla sales are slowing then you definitely ain't gonna sell anything. The hybrid / petrol / diesel market will follow soon. The attempt to keep new car prices elevated will only work for as long as nobody blinks. The same here in the UK - ONE company controls over 50% of the resale auction market - everything rolls through the auction sheds with no bids - but they keep throwing them in the ring.

I love my Ford trucks, but these past few years has proved Ford hasn’t learned from the past of American auto makers. They focus on making a quick dollar today at the cost of losing customers tomorrow. Play the long game, Ford. Put your efforts into process and supply chain efficiency, without sacrificing production quality. If it takes 3mo to build a truck after improvements, then it takes 3mo to build a truck. You might have customers complaining that it takes too long to get inventory or their trucks built, but you’ll have a much happier customer in the end and not ruin your name.

If someone could explain this to me I would appreciate it. Even when I was a little kid I took an interest in learning about money. I would ask my dad things like : how much do people make? How much does a house cost? How much does a car cost? Etc. what I don’t understand is this: back in the 70’s my dad made $35,000 a year and my mom made about $10,000 a year. They bought a house for $23,800 and a brand new car for $5,000. So, they made more in a year than the combined cost of a house and a car. Now, in 2024, where I live the average home price is around $1,000,000 and the average car is about $65,000. Yet people make about $150,000 household income. That is less than 1/10th the combined cost of a house and a car. How is this sustainable?

Extra flashing on the edges of the plastic and this is all around the lights and where the fenders meet. The window trim looks horrible and does not meet in line with each other on 4 door models. The top of the hood plastic at the windshield, both sides that go to the fenders is not flush or clean. This rubber plastic is curved and pops up. I have seen the back bumper crooked. The actual door itself does not meet aligned or fits tightly at the top with a flush look and the stealership wants 80 grand for that junk. I can go on about a poor mold injection shitty diecasts and the entire low end look the trucks really have. The panels are not straight and crisp. Conclusion the overall poor quality and fit and finish does not match the asking price for these pickups. The truck design I like but not the cheap chintzy look it holds.

As the previous people have said high prices, etc… But let’s not forget poor quality and awful warranty support. I’m sad to say it’s time for Ford to go the way of Edsel.

Well, if they had cared about the customers. Overpriced suv´s, trucks and so on. What is insane is that they dont sell cars anymore, besides the mustang. When companies stop caring about customers, they go down hill. Maybe they could care about the customers again.

ford went from making good modest reasonably priced work trucks for men that work in the country. to making glorified expensive man purses on wheels for weak do nothing city men so they can feel big that don't even need a truck.

What do you expect with high inflation high interest rates plus interest rates are gonna go up again and paying their workers $40 an hour then you had to remember you’ve got a lot of people who have bad credit and these vehicles are way over price so the best thing that Ford GM Chrysler can do along with all these other car companies just start letting everybody finance don’t even base it on their credit which way they’re gonna get them off the lot faster and give them big rebates on them like $20-$30,000 they want to get rid of the big luxury vehicles and even 60,000 on the hundred and $40,000 it’s the only way they’re getting those vehicles to move off any dealership lot right now?

The Mach-E is about as Mustang as a Ford probe is a ford. Many manufacturers such as Ford, Ferrari, Honda, BMW may have difficulty going all electric. Ferrari customers buy the ferrari as much for the engine note as the styling and performance. a Honda without vtec is just that, a BMW without the straight 6 is not the same BMW. and so to the mustang. No one wants a silent mustang. Future Development of Electrics though is far from finished. I believe Ferrari and the like will build Compressed Air Engines using electric rotary compressors and large air tanks instead of large batteries. Air is much lighter than lithium. abd plugged in you could probably pressure up to quite fast.

Man I don’t know. Economy was better before and vehicles were cheaper. If people are willing to drive in a plastic ram, I’m sure quality isn’t the problem. I have premium Mach E and it’s one of the highest quality vehicles I’ve ever had. Many brands with lower quality materials sell more just because it’s cheaper. I see a lot of Mitsubishi mirage on the road. I can guarentee you it’s not because they’re good quality.

They Hyundai Santa Cruz makes the Maverick look like a dumpster on wheels, not to mention it's so much more reliable. The only advantage to the Maverick is it does have amazing towing and gas mileage with the hybrid but good luck with reliability. Also, the Maverick is made in Mexico who does NOT have a very good track record with reliability! If you want a true full frame small pick-up I would get the Nissan Frontier although not near as reliable as the older ones which where amazing, or the redesigned Toyota Tacoma but be aware, there is no more V6 it is not a turbo 4 banger and even Toyota testing and reliability is dropping. I still think its a better choice than for or even the Chevy/GMC Collorado/Canyon. Stellantis should bring back the Dakota which was a decent Vehicle. I would not touch a Ford Ranger, also once a decent rig.
