@@justincoury411 Sure am but no longer have the Camry.... didn't drive it enough to keep the ethanol in the gas tank from going bad and had to use a shot of starting ether to get it going..... ran awful and stank like hell. Didn't want to go through the hell of trying to sell it so gave it to my daughter whose car had just been totaled by a 16 year old girl running a red light. She now has a nice car with no payments on it. Drives it every day.

My Corolla has 210k miles. Only time it has ever given me issues is on a road trip to Denver, where it's high elevation. Still not sure why it only has trouble in high elevation. But anywhere else besides parts of Colorado, it runs like a champ.

Drive train wise they rarely do but they still need suspension components and brakes like any other vehicle.

Oh they break, and they're not cheap to fix, but they don't break down nearly as often as other brands....well some break downs are directly related to the idiot driver regardless of brand, but the issues I had with my Toyota Tundra were factory defects and luckily it was under warranty...and for once I got the extended warranty which paid for itself in 1 dealer visit for a defect. It was a base model, and even it had power windows, power locks, keyless entry, heated mirrors, dual zone climate controls, etc. Some of those options aren't offered anymore in their base model trucks though but they've since raised the price on their base model trucks by $4-5k and took options out. If I were to do it again I'd buy used, although when I sold it last summer I sold it for exactly 1/2 of what the sticker price was new can't do that with other brands that are 9+ years old and over 100k. Then again my Tundra ran and drove like new and at 100k it was barely even broken in. Even the interior was still like new, yeah it needed to be detailed but the buyer didn't care they just wanted a reliable truck to tow their travel trailer on weekends.

I own a '08/09 Toyota Sequoia and it got well over 300,000km. Toyotas are really well built from my experience.

2000 Rav4 270k miles. Major repairs so far: Alternator, axle, shocks, radiator, struts, converter and tie rods. and those were just in the last 2 years when father time finally caught up. Even if my clutch finally goes in the coming years, I'm still waaaay ahead by not having a car payment. You really have to maintain the car though - 3000k oil changes, cleaning the throttle body, tune ups, etc.

I agree on all points. I have a 1984 Dodge that I've had for all these years because it was paid off in 1988 and it still works! It's had one engine rebuild, three carburetors, one additional paint job, countless batteries, a power steering pump, three mufflers, two clutches, but the original transmission has not been touched! With the price of new cars these days, I'll just keep fixing this one.

A good 90's car is worth keeping. You get fuel injection, better electronic ignition systems and improved corrosion protection compared to 70's and 80's cars. Modern cars are a pain, too much technology has been added for emission control and what they think the customer wants. 90's cars rock!

Simon Reeves 90s cars are great. I have really come to appreciate them over ther years. My first car was from the 70s because I wanted a "classic" but it was so un reliable. And I have had cars from the 2000's and they have way to much tech. 90s has the tech that you need, reliable and easy to work on.

Yup. EFI and good A/C, but not tons of safety and convenience crap that breaks expensively. Lighter than today's cars too, and parts are easily found on eBay or the salvage yard. Easy enough to work on too, with space under the hood and one computer instead of 168. Probably the perfect first car, as they are reliable enough, and easy to learn to wrench on.

I'm right with you on the 94 Celica. Bought mine in 2006 with 234,000 miles on it. Sold it 8 years later with 308,000 on it. Still got 33 mpg, and it only stranded me once, when the original ignition coil died. Bought a 95 Corolla wagon to replace it and haul gear. Still running great today.

I often miss my '92 hatch, had to sell it and the guy still dailies in it. the only problem it ever had was the alternator (which often is a problem with cars you don't move in years) I just had to give my trusty pal a call and he put one together using three different ones we got for free. I'm but one year older than that Civic and its healthier than me.

My girlfriend has a 2001 celica and she has crashed it and hit pot holes driven it with very little oil and even coolant and it just keeps going showing no signs of hiccups so I believe you when you say you love that celica !

My 1998 CR-V has 211,000 and my mechanic said "this engine just purrs". Would only be rid of it if it got wrecked. I don't drive it much obviously but would go on a long trip and not worry. I love shifting the manual transmission. So many people have no idea how to shift the manual.

Scotty !! ..... I have thoroughly enjoyed my 1994 Toyota Celica GT 5 Speed ..... I purchased it January 8, 2000 !!!!!!! Paid for in full the day I bought it ..... and has been a TRUE WINNER of a vehicle through the years !! CURRENTLY ... I have just over 220,000 miles .... and still purrs like a kitten !!....got it with just over 52,000 miles / 1 Owner. Has power sun roof, windows, locks, keyless entry and alarm, seats and interior are nearly perfect, AC Blows Cold, and drives smoooooth and powerful !!! the only BUMMER was I got rear ended by a college student in 2015 and it would cost more than I paid for it to fully fix it. I did some repairs to make it suitable, but to put 6,000 + in parts + labor on top ... I just decided to drive it as it is for as long as I can. Essentially I would need the entire back half of my car, .... even though the lights work, I can't open the rear hatch anymore. STILL, It handles awesome and really scoots down the road. I have front and rear DISK brakes, and with a manual transmission it is fun to drive, yet has pretty good gas mileage, which I usually can fill it up once per month..... kinda nice !! Oh, I have used LUCAS OIL PRODUCTS in my Celica for many years and it seems to keep it strong and reliable with very little to do other than basic maintenance. KUDDOS SCOTTY ... BE BLESSED !!!!

I bought my '97 GT convertible in October, over 230,000 miles and runs like a dream. It would have cost close to $30,000 when new, worked out this is equivalent to over $50,000 in today's money. This generation was built very very well, much better than the subsequent one. Fully expect to get over 300,000 miles out of mine, best thing about it, I only paid $1200, owner died and was sold as part of an estate sale.

Stavros Athas I picked one up for $1500 with almost 100K during the recession as a commuter. It got 37.5 MPG ! but it was an oil burner....some of them were....mine turned out to be one of those. I just always carried some oil in the trunk so it was no big deal. It was a great car, ran cheap but ran strong.

It's an electronic handbrake, they replaced the lever and linkage but it works mostly the same atleast at the rear caliper's. Euro's are the ones mostly doing it like VW and Merc

I live outside Ottawa, plenty of salt in the winter. Trick is to undercoat your car or buy one that has been since new. I drive a 99 Camry XLE with no rust because it was undercoated every year since it was new. Hell my other car is a 85 CelicaSupra that does have some rust around the wheel well's but floor boards are great because there's 2 inches of undercoating.

IF the roads ice over in Texas, they just shut the road down because it'll thaw out in a day or two. It's cheaper to do that than to salt the roads. It's also nice to be able to daily drive your badass car year round instead of a having a "winter driving car" like I've heard people up north have.

I got a 95 Dark Green Celica and it runs great. Has currently about 93,420km and the engine sounds like one of the cars in Tokyo Drift. It may also have parts from Toyota Racing Development and a huge muffler(or exhaust pipe). Really is an authentic JDM vehicle and should last for a long time. Perfect choice for my first ever car purchase of my own.

I went to the car dealership a few years ago to buy a new Toyota. I remember he said I was a "car salesman's nightmare." I had a Toyota Tercel, four-wheel drive version, hatchback car that I drove for 21 years. I also bought a 1995 Ford Taurus new, and I eventually drove that for 23 years. I gave away the Tercel to a friend who really needed a car. The Taurus I drove until the underside frame was rusted so badly it wasn't worth fixing. The engine and everything else was fantastic. You buy good cars, and do the maintenance, they can last quite a long, long, long time! Great video Scotty !!!

William Todd I really miss that Toyota Tercel. It was the first new car I ever bought. I came back from Germany, ( I was in the Air Force) and I needed a new car. The dealership had driven it a little bit, so they knocked off some of the price. I bought a "new" 1986 Toyota Tercel four wheel drive hatchback for $12,000. This was in 1986, so they were getting rid of all of the 1986 models. I live in North Dakota and that car got me through blizzard after blizzard. I taught my daughter to drive using that car. I drove that car on a single trip from North Dakota, to Michigan, to Texas, to California, and back to North Dakota again. A simple 4 cylinder engine, but boy oh boy was that car dependable. Great memories.

Noteworthy memo is that the night b4 I dropped it off, I tested it's performance handling w regards to front end damage and drove it safely at 90 plus mph experiencing ZERO PULL, ZERO SHIMMY, ZERO VIBRATION, NUTHIN!!!! Unfortunately, but all predicted, they totaled it! Scotty, i'm HEARTBROKEN AND DEVASTATED. It's been 2 weeks waiting to speak w rep on how this will end. I lived through the 90's and had 3 cars. 93 Eagle talon TSi AWD 5-speed that broke down every 2 weeks, 92 Infiniti G20 that was very rusty, holes in the fenders, floors, trunk - but great gas mileage and engine. 99 Nissan Maxima SE, 3.0L V6 it was a great car but came from California and had no rust. Cars back then rusted out, cars today rust from the inside out, are far heavier and have to use layers and layers of technology to get decent gas mileage due to being so heavy. A 90's Geo Metro got 50+ MPG as did most little light weight (but unsafe tin cans) 4cyls from back then. And none are around anymore because they all rusted away.

The 94 celica was my first car, bought it at 17 and probably wont ever sell it. most expensive stuff I've had done to it was an engine change to meet emission standards in Denmark, otherwise, it has only cost me a little rust repair and maintenance in wheel bearings and oil. Amazing car for little money, and the way prices are going in denmark, it will only appreciate in value.

It's a ST204, 2.2 litre 5S-FE engine, and I'm surprised how well it fares for nearly thirty years of age. After all, it's an engine used in Camry from that period, and Camrys are known for great reliability, but I didn't expect that an engine from a sedan will be this good in a sports coupe as well.

Just bought a 94 Celica today , they are called a Cureen in my country, it's for my 18 year old son. I bought it off the head mechanic at my work for $1000 . Oh it has an awesome stereo and massive sub woofer in it. The mechanic has owned it for a number of years and has constantly serviced and replaced wear and tear. Sean Spring I'm on my 4th Hyundai since 1989! And I'm still driving three of them! A 1999 Hyundai Accent, 2010 Hyundai Accent, and a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that I use for business. But understand, I'm one of those crazy people who still changes oil every 3000 Miles, transmission fluid every 15,000 miles, drop and replace the coolant every year, spark plugs and belts every 50,000 miles Etc.

I got a '94 Celica ST in '97 w/ 28K on it and got rid of it '05 w/ 230K. Added some 'bolt-ons' like a cold-air intake, sports exhaust with twin tips, and a Jet Chip'd ECU early on. Changed the wheels and threw a Supra spoiler on the back ("eww", thinking back). Drove it like hell for 200K. Only ever had to replace the driver's side seat back and clutch (put in a stage 1). Getting rid of it was the biggest mistake of my life.
