Oshay, there may be some truth to what you are saying. But the biggest reason why black men in America go to the DR rather than a country in Africa is because of the cost, plain & simple. With the DR, all you need is a passport and filling out a form stating when you are coming & when you’re leaving. That form is free as well. I’m going to Nigeria for the first time and the process to get in the country is much more tedious and costly. The plane ticket is 3X the cost of going to the DR. Then, you have to pay $160 for a VISA. You also need a letter from a Nigerian citizen inviting you to the country. Beautiful, feminine women are all around the world. Men with resources will travel to be around these women. Most men will travel to places that fit within their budget.

Objectively it's about time and resources if you live in the south or the east coast you can get to the Caribbean or Latin America on a direct flight in 4 to 7 hours depending on the country and you can find affordable flights. I flew nonstop to Kenya 15+ hours on the way back. I was jetlagged for 2 days. I'm sure of the Continent was closer and had more direct flights, especially with schedules that were conducive to traveling omfir 4 Day weekends I'm sure that more people would go.

I think that the church reasoning is wrong. I have been to many countries but as far as Africa is concerned I have only been to Morocco and Egypt. I have not been to the DR but I have been to Puerto Rico and Cuba. I would say that my main travel country is Brazil. This had been the top Passport Bros place for decades until many started to realize that the DR was closer and has a similar vibe to Brazil or so I was told. Brazil for me beats out Africa for many reasons. It's easier to get to. It's actually a very modern place when it comes to hotels and technology. Brazil has a party vibe to it that is hard to beat, think carnaval. Brazil is also very diverse. You can eat Italian one night and headout for Chinese the next night! Brazil has incredible modern malls and a great beach culture. Many bros that I know want to avoid impoverished countries, so they avoid Haiti and many African countries. I would say that Brazil would be considered middle class as a country. Some poor people live there but it's not a poor place. In the end I do want to see more of Africa. Perhaps Angola or Mozambique or even South Africa.

I will leave the USA soon and I have looked at many areas. I love black women but I can't let that be my primary reason. I agree with the expense and bang for buck arguments for the short or immediate reasons sun-Saharan Africa is a less of a priority for brothers from the USA. Although, for long term opportunities, I would encourage brothers that once you’ve been to South America and South East Asia (if that’s your preference) consider Africa, for long term economic opportunities and viability. Plus beautiful, fit, feminine, and cooperative, strong work ethic black women are aplenty 😊.

The DR is awesome because it's close and you can travel more frequently. Add that you can also get dark skinned women in the DR.

Okay, here's the thing. I prefer to go to Latin America over Africa because: 1. It's closer. I LITERALLY can be in Latin American in a few hours from where I live. I'm originally from Texas, and I've lived in Georgia and South Carolina, so getting to Latin America has always been relatively easy. Hell, Texas BOARDERS Mexico. If push came to shove, I could WALK into Latin America from the states. I can't do the same with Africa. 2. It's cheaper. Traveling to and across Africa from the states can cost two to three times MORE THAN what it cost to travel to a Latin America country. This means I LITERALLY get more bang for my buck by going to Latin America. 3. In many ways, Latin American culture is very similar to that of the States. Although I may share a similar SKIN TONE with many Africans, I don't, however, share a similar culture. Because of proximity, I'm more culturally in tune with Latin American culture than I am with any African culture. That's not to disparage African cultures. It's just that being familiar and understanding the nuances of Latin American culture make traveling to and through those countries somewhat easier (although I must admit that I've never BEEN to Africa, so maybe this isn't true). 4. Time Zones. Latin America falls within the SAME times zones as the states. This means that I'm still able to maintain my same sleep/work/play schedule if doing remote work. There's very little jet lag. If I travel to Africa, I have to completely invert my sleep/work/play schedule, and if I'm doing remote work for the states, that means that I'm AT LEAST 8 hours off from the states. That means while other people in Africa are sleeping, I'm working. While they're playing, I'm sleeping. And while they're working, I'm trying to play. 5. This one is going to be controversial, but it is what it is. The women of Latin America come across as being more feminine, dainty, and demure. Of course, I'm sure there are PLENTY of African Women who fit that bill, however there are certain things that certain African women do that I find to be a complete turn off (like their insistence on wearing wigs and weave).

Kenya is a beautiful country. Every American should go there at least once in their life. The coastal cities are so beautiful. It is far away. That is absolutely true. However, it is well worth the trip. Everyone is so friendly in Kenya. For those looking to build a relationship with a woman outside of America, you are more likely to find a variety of women from Africa on dating apps than in the Caribbean as well and less competition.
