I think there is a misunderstanding. People what to make Eric seem like a dickhead but he is not. He's tring to push the point out. He probably has the best relationship than his critics. What Eric means is; as a man you have to lead a woman but not be submissive to a woman. Being smart means you are willing understand the current situation you are into: when need be, you can hold the handbag maybe when she is "tired' or picking something for instance, but not carrying it now and then everyday of your life. You can cook food, dress the children and even help your wife in doing some work. Being a man doesn’t mean you control your wife, it's more about understanding her needs and not acting stupid nice. Your woman is there to help you, give you advice but my friend si kukaliwa...the point where he talks about letting things go is true. You have to talk yourself out by not keeping things to yourself. Woman need a humble man but not some weak something...Out of my experience: I got to know one Girl for 3 months, I don't take alcohol but I let her drink in my house. One day I go out to make a call for a few mins and when I come back I find some Dude and her drinking in my house. I was Mad which she noticed but didn't want to create a scene. Probably that guy thought I was stupid for not talking and chasing then out. I used an excuse to respectfully make them leave. Three days later she came I told her to her face that I would be a thousand times willing to be disrespected but not my house. Believe me, I made the first mistake of letting her drink at my own place, second I was over accommodating, that led her into thinking my house was some kind of bar.... let's assume I didn't confront her about bring a Guy in my house and stayed silent.....You must take charge and be in control in what she wants and ask you to do when with her. But don’t be a dickhead. Currently Many women in this Nairobi are so "demanding"...

Some opinions here are just sexist. Ati why can't a man carry a handbag again? Sio ati he has decided to make it his fashion statement lakinin ukiulizwa ubebe na rafiki or relative, why not? Some fellows have fragile definitions of masculinity yaani. A man does not need any permission to stay out, nyenyenye. Let a woman do the same uone. And then there is the other unfortunate bit of "his money is our money, my money is my money". Society is broken
