Nissan has improved their CVT over the years. There are many many Rogues on the road with that CVT in it. Also. I hear a-lot of comments about the hp, which did fine on every trip we took. We have the 2021 Platinum and it is just fine. And yes, we drove the CRV, RAV4, CX5, and the list goes on. You also have to like the other aspects of the vehicle, correct. Pound for pound the Rogue won. It’s not tue fastest off the line but I would have bought a Vette for that. It merges just fine and keeps up with traffic. And yes, I’ve owned prior Nissans with the CVT and any issue I had was not with the transmission. My 2019 Accord Sport had a camera malfunction and shut the entire car down. Oh well, if man makes it, it will break. The Rogue is a nice driving vehicle. Take one for a drive before you just talk about the CVT. Yes, it has a history but people just like to talk crap as if it has not been improved.

Really liked that you reviewed a trim that is probably more reflective of a volume seller. Reviewing fully loaded, top trim models really isn't providing "helpful" reviews for the vast majority of shoppers. They may be entertaining, but the differences between what a vehicle can be optioned up and what gets parked in most driveways are usually pretty different. Also, you've shared the blue thing before, and even noted that your wife has never owned a blue car, either. Good review. Thanks.

Great video! But I do have to respectfully disagree at 7:16. Perhaps your pre-production model didn’t have the finalized audio setup, but the sound quality in my ‘21 Rogue SV seems pretty terrific. No, it’s not quite the same as what I’ve heard in Nissan’s Bose systems over the years,, but it’s pretty close to my ear. The bass packs a very nice punch to not have a dedicated subwoofer (I’ve yet to run into any distortion issues, even at louder levels), and the mids and highs are decent enough. Again, any premium system will almost always sound superior, but I plan to keep this vehicle a very long time and have no intentions of upgrading the stock speakers. They sound that good! To anyone debating between the SV or a higher trim just for the Bose package, I personally don’t think it’s worth the upgrade. Unless you are a bonafide audiophile, you’ll really enjoy the stock system! That said, I believe the base S trim only has a four speaker system, so it very likely is worth the couple extra thousand to go with the SV - not just for audio, but also for all the other features that come along with it!

Just got a 2021 Rogue SV as a company car. Very nice interior and amazing it doesn't have a auto shut off which is a huge plus. Seats are tall and supportive, if not a tad hard on the backend for those of us who aren't well padded back there. The arm rest height with the seat at high setting is excellent as is the utility of the interior which also has a swanky appearance with decent materials. The engine has some torque off the line and the Rogue is quicker than the Honda CRV EX-L (my personal ride). True the cargo area is shorter than the Honda CRV's however the cargo tie downs are very sturdy looking. I like the 12 volt outlet in the back area. The auto steer system is still being learned and seems to not be as precise as Honda's LKAS /ACC system. The Rogue tends to tailgate under the system and does not suddenly brake hard when someone slows ahead to pull off the highway - a very annoying and dangerous trait of the CRV. All in all, a good value and a comfortable vehicle.

@@AdamSmith-gs2dv Chrysler might have been better off keeping the CVT. I bought into the ZF 9speed, when trading off my Outback in late 2014 for a 2015 Chrysler 200 v6. What a complete piece of crap that car was. That 9 speed in my 200 designed and built by ZF shifted hard enough to give you whiplash. Hard enough to may me think I just dropped the transmission on some of it's shifting and yet all of the constant computer upgrades did nothing to fix. In the end for a car that only had 123k, it needed a new engine (worn cams spread metal flakes throughout engine), possible transmission, multiple electronic issues, being told that engine may have ruined the catalytic converters (it has 2), the suspension was already shot and the AC unit needed to be replaced. All told, it was going to cost nearly $18k to fix this dopey Chrysler. Yea, stick with Nissan.... I have family members with 2014 Nissan's that have well over 100k and have had no problems. Funny how I got rid of CVT vehicle because I couldn't stand it anymore, only to go to an inferior product only to go back to the CVT. I've recently celebrated a year of ownership of my Nissan because I haven't had to have the car towed annually like that Chrysler.

The only Nissan product I've ever owned was a much loved 240Z that took me around backroads when dinosaur crossing signs were common. In the years since I never found a Nissan vehicle that met my needs or wants. But I have to say that Nissan appears to have hit the sweet spot for the typical family of three or four (and perhaps a dog) with the new Rogue. They've reduced the length by a couple of inches bringing it closer to the average of compact crossovers while maintaining near class leading generous passenger and cargo space. The suite of driver assistance and convenience features are impressive, especially in midlevel volume trims. The single engine choice of a NA 4 banger with 186 ft lbs of torque and 186 HP won't thrill those whose priorities include stoplight drag racing in a compact crossover but such folks are far more numerous among internet fan boys than consumers. Current Nissan Rogue sales have slipped 39% in 2020 and dropped it from third to fourth place among compact SUVs. But the new model should move it back to third place ahead of the Chevy Equinox and again nipping at the heels of the CRV as it did in 2019. The familiar gripes about the Rogue's CVT won't go away. But such complaints largely ignore that CVTs (including Nissan's) have improved greatly since I test drove a Murano back in 2012 and found it highly objectionable. I'd guess that 90% of consumers looking at the Rogue won't notice a difference between its CVT and a traditional geared transmission. Further, nearly 100% of drivers will find no difference in over 90% of the miles they drive. CVTs are less expensive to manufacture. Their behavior can be designed and modified via software. And while the advantage CVTs enjoy in fuel efficiency is relatively minor and doesn't pay off for years compared to a traditional gearbox with 8 to 10 speeds, the advantage does exist in one important way when it's displayed on the window sticker in the dealer showroom. Consumers notice it and that matters in terms of sales.

Nice to see Nissan on the mend from garish styling gaffes. The grille is not ginormous, the logo isn't the size of a pizza and even the awful chrome "U" grille surround is toned down slightly. Interior looks great--it won't win any awards but it's smart-looking and easy on the brain.

I seriously don’t understand the purpose of a cvt. they claim it’s to improve fuel economy but it’s not even noticeable

Cheaper to manufacture and potentially modifiable with software. The current crop is considerably better than when CVTs began to appear a decade or so ago. And while one or even 2 mpg improvement in fuel economy may not be noticeable on the road, its noticeable on the window sticker in the showroom.

I don't know if the same holds true with the Rogue, but Altimas are known to get better than EPA mileage in the real world. Reportedly +/- 40mpg isn't hard to achieve.
