Reverse wheel probably means it’s a reverse mount. This means the drop center of the wheel is towards the back and if you install a tire you have to put the face down on the tire machine to get the tire dismounted and re mounted. Most reverse mount wheels aren’t labeled which can make a tire guy damage a wheel so it’s actually really smart for GM to have that written there.

Very nice review of an impressive product. One minor nit to pick: at a couple of points you state that the 110v charger supplied with the car only charges at a rate of one or two miles per hour while plugged in. Most EVs--and i suspect this one, too--actually charge closer to 4 or five miles of range per hour. Still quite slow, but more practical for some people who drive short distances or who can plug into 110v at work.

The 2023's had the push to open door handles. For 2024 and on they have the self presenting ones. Also, you should never charge you EV on a dryer socket. They are not meant to have continous draw nor do they produce the proper wattage and do not provide a fail safe. The plug (not the charger, the charger is on board the vehicle) that you get is for 110v or 220v if you have a 220 outlet installed in your home or as you mentioned get a wall mount one. For the one pedal driving you can adjust how much regen you like or turn it off. You can also use the paddle behinde the steering wheel to use regen as much or little as you want and not have one pedal driving on or have both on. I absolutely love my 24 Sport lyriq. You have the sport 3 which comes with the 19 AKG speakers and noise cancelation. The Sport 1 does not.

I think you're going to have issues with your uncle's EVSE install. That plug isn't going to tolerate 11kW of power for long. You need a Hubbell/Bryant EV rated receptacle. An EVSE draws a LOT of power for a long time. I really hope he torqued the screws inside right too. The cutoff switch is fine, but either you've got a GFCI circuit breaker back in the box that might start to nuisance trip or you're not "up to code". Did you pull a permit and get it inspected? The better way is to just "hardwire" the EVSE straight in.
@harriettanthony73524 ай бұрын
Well Written and Correct! The "Home Depot Issued' wall plugs WILL overheat and cause a fire when used fully. And this one is in a wall, where you will not see the fire till its too late! This writers EVSE does plug in {easier to replace, upgrade, or take with you if you move} and the box is METAL and externally mounted. And I have an electric rated fire extinguisher near the garage door[the first place to grab it if needed].

Less that the gas car that OP worships. Or did he conveniently forget the GAS car that blew up 1/2 of the customs stations on the Rainbow Bridge in N.Y.S. Fun fact [which OP will denigrate} a gas car is 10x more likely to have a fire than an EV. The fire difference is the fact the fire dept is stupid. You do not throw water on an electrick fire of any sort. Even Home Depot knows that, look at the different types of fire extinguishers sold. I will say EV fires are more intense, but they do not flow to other places.

Comparing this to a tesla Y a tesla Y performance has similar to more range, its cheaper, better more intergrated tech, and even on a level 1 charger it will charge faster (4.5 average miles gained per hour) and its about 24-27miles on L2, plus tesla charging network is a vastly better experience, much more reliable overall in terms of EV, their techs actually can fix the vehicle (GM techs are far more used to working on ICE). ( a model 3 with the LFP battery will charge on L1 at 4.9-5.35 miles per hour plugged in, outside temp will vary this slightly) this caddy, ill take out the GM being highly unreliable aspect out, has some nice styling for sure. I will give the interior a win to GM here and GM supercruise, if its not a subscription service it seems like a nice feature. I have used teslas FSD and i find it to drive like a confused californian, misses exits, slams on brakes at yellow lights, etc. i found FSD to be stressful to be honest. the basic cruise and lane following is perfect feature without the stress of the computer doing whatever it wants to do. another tesla advantage, IF its available in your market, is very low cost insurance thru tesla as they base on how you drive the car....considering EVs are high cost to insure this if available gives tesla a massive edge. every company wanted $320-400 a month for my BASE model RWD only model 3, with zero claims, tickets, etc for 20 years. that was double what my tuscon hybrid was to insure. tesla insurance, based on 18k miles a year costs me 86 bucks a month. Tesla batteries are also cheaper, and far more in abundance than GM vehicles. not that one will likely be buying a battery for it, as its warrantied to 100k miles (some are 120k) but if it did fail, out of pocket will prob be cheaper on a tesla, AND, if if its warranty replacement needed your turn around with a tesla will likely be faster. other issues could be parts supply for such a limited niche for GM. the caddy is a very nice car, laid out well, and wins for its more plush and more physical interior over a tesla. but in the overall package, tesla does win. also, you can buy at very reasonable costs phyiscal controls to your tesla and make it more user friendly. also i dont see the obsession with the volume wheel....all cars can raise, lower, and mute the volume right from the steering wheel without even moving your hand away. in the bigger picture, in terms of the money and all the more logical outlooks, the model Y is the overall better package for less money. so for those looking for an EV, there is a lot to absorb here, not just the surface. when i bought my model 3, i was considering the kia EV6, and the tesla won hands down because of logical aspects of it, but the kia i thought was a nicer looking car, and the interior was more comfortable and felt more solid. however, i drove the new highland model 3 and its vastly improved. but the biggest factor for the tesla was the tech, and the charging network as third party networks are often higher priced, harder to find, and reliability is shaky. plus with a tesla you dont need to worry about adaptors, or payment its all seamless thru your tesla account. and yes some non tesla cars can charge on tesla network, but thats limited, and requires you to sign up, and they charge you more too, and you need an adaptor, and you potentially could be needing to take up 2 or 3 stalls because your charge port is not in a universal spot that tesla chargers are made for. this making you "that arsehole" blocking chargers when someone needs it. think of tesla as iphone and apple accessories and how everything intergrates seamlessly, and every other EV is basically an android and nothing is on the same page and have to take extra steps.
@fleecystheking4 ай бұрын
The Y is also a Tesla, the purchase of which involves giving money to Elon Musk. Elon then turns around and uses that cash to do what he does, which many people just don't agree with. As long as Musk is involved with Tesla, I know I won't be. So I couldn't be happier that great EVs are available outside of the Tesla movement.
