My favorite sports car. Owned the 1986 911 Carrerra, 928S, and the 944 turbo. I'm a Porsche fan, but not at these prices. Stunning 911 you drove here.

The base 992 is a truly beautiful, clean looking and elegant car. The 911 logo on the engine lid is perfect as far as I’m concerned. Much better than all that literature telling you what exact version you are looking at. As for the rear spoiler, it’s a two way reality. Yes if it activates on its own, it means you are going at a predetermined speed, and that may be tricky if the patrol car is looking out. But then you can also choose to have it activated and keep it that way at all times. But whichever, to my taste the 911 looks much nicer and purer with the spoiler down. The legendary 911 2.7 litre RS with its ducktail is a totally other story. The digital instrumental layout doesn’t bother me one bit. At least you can see all five dials at once if you so wish. Why they didn’t stick to the 991 cluster is a mystery to me. It was just perfect. As for the push button replacing the so called key, yes, a bit of a shame maybe, but that is probably nitpicking What I do miss is why Porsche decided not to offer the option of a manual box on this base version. But then now you can go for the Carrera T which is equipped exclusively with a 6 speed manual box for a more engaging drive. That would be my choice 😎.

The 911 logo on the rear is most welcome and the graphics are spot on. A vintage wink. Surely there is a cup holder on the passenger side, it’s just that it’s concealed below the glove box, is it not ? The pure lines and volumes of this 992.2 Carrera are wonderful. It will never be outdated. A great car. As for the loss of metal dials (actually only one on the 992.1, the rev counter) and the key knob, I wouldn’t make a fuss about that, it’s just a detail that soon nobody will talk about, especially considering the graphics of the digital dials are clean and elegant. 😎

It's a factory option and not standard equipment.

@ Well, it’s certainly a very good choice 😄 Personally, I’ve never been a fan of the detailed specification which could be as long as a chapter according to the version (four wheel drive specifically).

There's another cup holder on the passenger side. Also small though...but there are two

Thanks for the review! While the 911 is still a great car, Porsche price inflation is a bit out of control these last 5 years imo. The air cooled Porsche's of the 70's, 80's, and 90's are my cup of tea and my favorite was a Guards Red 78 911SC Targa that I was lucky enough to own for 10 years. I bought it in 1982 from the original owner with 7500 miles(excellent condition) on it for $22k which in today's dollars is about $72k. It only had 172 hp but felt plenty fast due to it's low weight. Also, the manual shift linkage was what really gave you the feeling of being one with the car/road, not the gravel noise in the wheel wells...lol. You're correct that the sunroof does add weight up top where you don't want it but for a base Carrera with the PDK it's probably not a big deal. Thanks again! Enjoyed it.

No thank you. The transition to a GT car seems to be complete. The backend looks fat doesn’t have the sleek lines of the old 911 Porsche style too much computer. This is going to do great things for the older generation, more raw Porsche 911.

I’ll keep my 2023 911. This is nice….but the tach needs to stay….and that’s big. I got the big tank…..a bargain and easily overlooked. I got 14 way seats…..I think I might go 18 if I did it over. (I have 18’s in my Macan…..very nice.) Beautiful car, but man o man that sticker is on fire !!🔥

Price went up $10,000 from last year. Now it starts at $120,000!
@markg153126 күн бұрын
Which is about $80,000 in five years ago money. So the price is holding steady and the car is getting better. A deal!
@ChewyHighHADАй бұрын
$156k for a "sports car" without a limited-slip diff is offensive. Luckily, the first owner can likely afford the massive depreciation the base .2 Carreras will take.

I think they actually hold their value better than most cars. I still think they’re extremely overpriced.

It looks very similar to the other versions.

It is not an automatic. PDK is a dual clutch. Second cup holder is in passenger side dash.

Let’s face facts,,base 911 is 150k,,let’s see what’s above that,,a Ferrari,,Lamborghini,,what else,,your at 400k ,,and those cars are temperamental,,so at 150k isn’t it sound much more affordable for a supercar
@mm9324920 күн бұрын
Why are they so expensive now? They have to pay for all their other global warming models that don’t sell? You used to be able to get a base Carrera for less than 100K in 2019. What happened?
@timwong58029 күн бұрын
The 911 is getting old and ready to retire! Lots of tech, not blisteringly quick. Wow!

Ridiculously overpriced for a base 911. What a joke!
@TChan-z8j27 күн бұрын
No true sport car exist anymore after the 90s with the exception of the Mazda Miata and Toyota 86. Being expensive and having more bhp does not make a sports car.
@markg153126 күн бұрын
Agreed 100%. All that electronic stuff mediating between the driver and the road destroys the experience.
@VK6AB-Ай бұрын
No, its no longer a sports car. Its turbocharged, large and heavy - horrible interior too. Its doesn't drive particularly well, unless it has rear axle steering. Porsche have lost their way.
@jamespaul1835Ай бұрын
There is no way you have driven one of these cars. No way. I have a 6 week old 2025 911 Base on 19/20” wheels. This thing is better than a 10 year old GT3. The turbo gets rid of any low end power weakness but the top end feels naturally aspirated . The interior is perfect and the ride / handling balance on base wheels is perfect. In my car club I had people in exotics questioning their current car choices.
@VK6AB-Ай бұрын
@@jamespaul1835 I've owned +20 Porsche sports cars, done 5 seasons of Carrera Cup, currently own several Porsche sports cars including a 991.2 GT3 RS. I have driven multiple iterations of the 992 up to and including the S/T and 992.1 GT3 RS. The standard Carrera and Carrera S without RAS are ordinary. I also own a 720S and 296 GTB I would never own a 992 base or S - they're just not that good. They are no longer a sports car, ordinary 3L turbocharged engine which is a carry over from the 991.2, more weight, accountant designed interior, no personality and not even particularly quick round a track. It is not better than a 10 year old GT3 not even close to a 997.2 GT3 in personality or driving experience. Its not close.

@@mncedisimiya4563 Sometimes you just have to tell it as it is. 😀 Porsche decided to go mainstream and that along with emissions controls translates to a less visceral and less unique experience.

This ugly butt is unbearable and neither is the Volkswagen Group's ugly center console. That simulated display of 5 mechanical instruments behind the steering wheel is just as bad. Porsche is at the end! However, now I'm going into my garage and cuddle and kiss the beautiful butt of my 997 Turbo! Greetings from Germany from a real old German…
