Honestly, the thing that most makes me want this controller? The B and A buttons are convex, but it looks like the X and Y buttons are CONCAVE. This is how it was on the actual SNES controllers back in the day and it's still my favourite button style. The way the pad of your thumb rests between them, with the convex "lower" buttons coming up under the knuckle and the tip of your thumb in the concave portion of the "upper" buttons always felt very ergonomic. I've never really liked the super convex xbox "beans" and while the "mostly flat" playstation buttons get the job done I've always missed the old-school SNES style. Bravo to 8BitDo for FINALLY getting this detail right.

The analogs sticks are near perfect for FPS (adjusted resistance to 99%) and the triggers feel great for any kind of game (adjusted resistance to 50%). The rumble feature is last gen and feels muddy, after tuning it down (adjusted to level 1) it feels a bit more like the HD rumble on the official Switch Pro Controller. Wireless is great, no lag and easy to sync. My only complaint is the + and - buttons (start and select), they are a bit of a reach from the face buttons and left analog stick. Specifically for the Black Edition, the face button labels YXBA are labeled in black letters (yup on a black controller) and is very hard to make out.

Now if they have softened the rubbers too, this gamepad might be the first 8bitdo Pad i don't have to mod. I agree about the name. It does hint the evolution, but just "8BitDo PRO" or something fancy like "8BitDo Custrom" would easier to associate

Yeah, got mine delivered on Friday, and I'm quite impressed. It's like everything I liked from the SN30 Pro, but made more comfortable. Having larger hands, it helps a lot. Especially the full-size shoulder buttons. Since it's an iteration on the SN30, thus a modified SNES controller, I understand the placement of pieces. However , the 2 analog sticks are closer together than on a PS4 controller, more like the distance of the DualShock 1-3 controllers. That's a little irritating to me, as my thumbs can collide if I'm using both analog sticks at the same time. It doesn't make design sense to offset them like the Pro controller or 360 though. Not a deal breaker, but something they could probably improve over time. About the only other criticism I could think of with it, is that the sticker that informs you of the different pairing modes is under the battery. The battery is SNUG in place, so it takes a bit of time or prying to get it out to get a view on how to pair it with different modes. The SN30 Pro just has it on the back of the controller so it's easily seen whenever it's needed. It might be nice in the future if they had a sticker either on the back of the controller, or perhaps on the underside of the battery cover to make that information easier to access. This thing is a beast though, and probably going to be my go-to controller for PC games and menu-heavy games on Switch. It's an absolute treat for emulation / retro games.

Replacing batteries for Switch Pro controller I doubt will be an issue in the future. It's also really easy to replace. Basically 2 screws the handles and then 4 more for the battery cover. And when it comes to finding replacement battery I don't think it will be an issue. It shares the same battery as the 3DS. This is and will be a common battery to find online. Heck I bought a GBA SP replacement battery recently. only current gen controller that might give people problems replacing the battery is the PS4 controller. You actually have to open it up to take the battery out. And those clips are annoying to undo. Also some small pieces might get lost. Still it's not too bad because battery is one of the first things you have access too once you open it up. Joycons on the other hand are a different story and is the hardest controller by far to replace the battery. Even gonna say its easier to replace the battery on the Switch itself than it is to replace the joycons

I've had this controller since April 2020 and it's now October 2021 and Ive always loved it and never had any issues. But now since N64 games are available for Switch Online it is unsuseable for all the n64 games. Fine for the Genesis games that released at the same time as the 64 games though. It's starts rumbling as soon as I select a 64 game and won't stop until I stop and go back to the "select game" screen. It's up to date AND my N30 Pro works fine ( not sure if that controller even has rumble though)

Neither my dad or I know if this was him or his imagination, but he found the SN30 Pro+ D-pad to be a teeny weeny smaller than the original SNES one. Which can make the D-pad feel loose at times, maybe I used it extremely heavily. It's still a great D-pad, it's my dad's favorite.

The reason is 8BitDo controllers aren't primarily for the Switch. They've always been Android first with PC, Mac and Linux their secondary function. They're a Chinese company so their main focus is mobile. With all of the different modes, it probably isn't feasible to keep it connected to a Switch after it's powered off

READ BEFORE BUYING IF YOU OWN A COMPUTER WITHOUT WINDOWS. So I really like this channel and I watch videos multiple times a week, which is why I bought this controller. Jonathan did a great review. And I could wait to get my hands on this product. But what he didn’t mention is that you need a windows computer for firmware updates. So two days ago this controller finally arrived. I took it out of the package, but it was almost empty. I put it on charge overnight, and long story short: until now I just haven’t got it to work/charge with the battery pack, nor Duracell AA batteries. Been goin back an forward with the 8bitDo support, but other then a red indictor when wiring the controller and a simple pairing with the switch it doesn’t go. They have Mac firmware updates on the website, but apparently those don’t do the trick, coz support emailed me this. “You can ask a friend who owns WINDOWS7/10 for help. These operations can only be done with WINDOWS.” The controller might look great, but if you are a casual consumer like myself that justs want to unpack a controller and play, this is a BIG no no. For me this was really big a disappointment. I just packed it all back in the box for return and ordered a Switch Pro controller (that one will also be able to turn the Switch on and off). I feel great for those who have enjoyed it, but the dependence on computers is definitely not going tp be for everyone.

@dannyd43395 жыл бұрын
You mean like every controller ever?
@davidleonreyes5 жыл бұрын
The difference in size and weight is what actually makes the controller rumble when they spin up. If they were the same size, the effect wouldn't be as noticable.
@Cyclops19805 жыл бұрын
Gives different amount of vibration strength. For example if you scrape the car you are driving on a guard rail the smaller one vibrates, if you crash badly the bigger one vibrates. or both if you drive into a wall at 300km/t :-)

Thanks so much for dissembling it, I spilled beer in mine and wanted to clean it up. The insides of this, the design, this is top notch shit, in fact, I've never opened up a pad that was so finely constructed as this one. Everything is where it should be, and snaps in or goes down properly with literally 0 obstructions. It was the most simplest yet clean assembly I've ever seen in most pads I've ever used. It's also the most comfortable I've ever used, and is my main pad for PC. The only downside is the button layout per-say (Nintendo's,) but that's simply because it was designed for it. I can remember the button layout for any pad, so that's not even really a minus. As soon as I saw how good it was, I purchased the black one as well just in case this one (which I highly doubt) wears down or breaks, to which I will attempt to repair it!

@Realauthorityofthespiritsquadcodename Gareth because the pro controller d-pad sucks and will often give you random unwanted down inputs , this Sn30 pro has a better d-pad and people playing 2d games will want to buy it.
