My 1991 Mazda 929 had a solar powered sunroof that was also used to power the AC maintain the temperature inside the car and trickled energy into the battery to avoid a flat battery so long as it is parked outside... 1991... We had a terrible hail storm in Sydney in 1997 and it damaged the 929 but specifically it cracked the Solar Power Sun Roof, it was insured so we didn't mind, the replacement sunroof imported from Japan cost $10k... $10k for a sunroof... +strictly business thinks his bottom of the barrel, entry level C-class Mercedes BUDGET line is actually "nicer" than this top of the line beast. Hahahaha In my honest opinion and everyone else's that actually drives the higher end models of Mercedes..... we all think AMG should have never even been offered in the Mercedes mid to low level models. Damn C-class is the cheapest possible thing you buy from the manufacturer, why dilute the AMG brand and put it on the trash level model. Lol economical marketing at it's finest!

I was a valet around the same time that Maybach was introduced. I got to park a few of them for some basketball players so I was able to check out the interiors. Really, it was an S-Class from the driver's position, just more of it. There was more wood, more leather, more metal, more length. The problem was that it came out the same time as their newly updated S-Class. It had the electronic gearshift in the column and a modern dash, while the Maybach had all of the old floor shifter and old tech and aesthetics of the last generation. Going from the new S-Class to the Maybach made it feel old, and not in a classic Bentley way. Maybe I was jaded by being a valet, but I just wasn't impressed by it.

It's baffling to me that merc did floor shifters for ages. My bosses had E350 and a E250 and the latter was so much worse. Couldn't even keep my phone on the middle console because the shifter was there. It's also weird because trucks have had auto trans on the stalk for ages, I remember driving like a 2006 or something Scania that had D-N-R on a stalk like it should be.

The gauges were used in many Mercedes models of the era with large center screens. The price tag isn't a big issue. This car was made for people who don't have to take cost into consideration when choosing which land yacht to buy for their chauffeur to drive. The problem is that it doesn't even look better than an S Class. It's not distinctive at all. Rolls Royce over this any day.

I would agree. But with that being said... this is the last maybach that was made under the MAYBACH brand. That and at the price they are selling for today you are getting a WHOLE lot of car for your money. The outside looks are debatable tho. I'd buy one no problem. What amazes me is that this car was a 2006. My gf just sold her 2006 Hyundai that was the "Limited" model with none of that stuff. It only had heated seats that were one way, a broken 6 disk CD changer, and the optional cruise control. Her 2018 Camry has most of the things the Maybach had though

I love this car, it has all the features my current car lacks i.e. lots of switches and storage but I'd have to hire a Chauffeur to drive it, I can barely cope with my 5m car let alone a 5m7 or a 6m2 long vehicle. Fuel economy ? I guess if you could buy this car new or even second hand that would be the last thing on your mind.

Here's the thing, maybachs are great to be driven around in, so long as you're in the back seat. Driving one yourself is awful, it does not feel very luxurious and it feels like they've deliberately made the driving experience worse in the front than back so that rich people don't feel like their chauffeurs are enjoying it more than them.
