@kronos220025 жыл бұрын
@@blackshadow7192 the factory-tuned offering (no cost- shhh don't tell anyone) could out drag some Ferraris. Admittedly it drank fuel and could only run on 98RON. later models (90 on) were fitted with a device called transient boost- it basically held the wastegate shut for a few extra seconds for that extra bit of wallop. There were 'lads' in development who felt the need to tune the knackers off them and then go out for a spin (literally).

An interesting quirk I learnt at the Bentley factory is that all of the wood trim used inside every car they build is completely symmetrical by the centre line of the car. You can see it quite clearly a couple of times in this video. They have a dashboard trim on the wall at their factory which they had to remove from a car as they noticed whilst assembling the car that the wood grain made it look like there was a skull in the centre of the dashboard!

Having 4 horn buttons is a really great idea, that way no matter if you're a hands at 10 & 2 driver or an 8 & 4 driver you do not have to take a hand off the wheel to honk the horn. It's sort of a safety feature in that regard, hahah! A lot of manufacturers started placing horn buttons in places like that after the advent of airbags. Also, I bet the 1992 model with the 4 speed probably feels a bit faster than the older 3 spd. 0-60mph in 6.9 was pretty quick back then-especially if you consider the weight...also contrary to Doug, there were fastish cars back then...Ford Taurus SHO, am I a joke to you?

$10 pos steering wheel cover to protect a steering wheel that's probably in mint condition and impossible to get reupholstered to factory standards, so $10 to protect something that's potentially priceless.

@Dylzhaar5 жыл бұрын
In the UK, they're not super rare but definitely uncommon. You can usually find maybe 3 or 4 for sale at any time compared to like 300 autos for the same era. I imagine the manual would be much rarer in the US though since automatic cars are more popular. Still, pretty damn cool hey.

Great video as always Doug, have an awesome 2020 you and your wife and I hope you two had a great Christmas. That Turbo R looks so attractive with the monochrome bumpers and grill, the white contrasts beautifully with the beige leather, and interior with the black steering wheel. I love it with the chrome wheels. I've always loved the contrast of different woods, that burled maple and walnut. I'd bury my bare feet into that thick pile carpeting. It's cool to see the engine exposed like that. I found out that the 4 speed auto that Bentley started using was GM's 4L80E. It was a 4 speed version of their Turbo Hydromatic 400 with electronic overdrive used from 1992-97. I think that's cool because it's just before Vw's takeover in 1998 just like Bentley was different prior to Rolls Royce's take over in 1931.
