Congrats on the new channel! These old cartoons are as important as the old live-action shows. On the Pink Panther - There was a single episode where the Pink Panther spoke at the very end of the ep. He had an English accent! Also, the "Little Man" is based on the Inspector Clouseau character. Always loved the cartoon!

You picked a great episode with which to start off. You nailed it. I definitely remember when these were originally broadcast and seeing them at the drive in. Had these on vhs for our first son. No dialogue is definitely key to it’s success as Mr. Bean. Also have a collection of tapes gifted to us when my brother-in-law was in Korea called “Pat and Matt.” Stop motion animation, no dialogue. Not sure what country produced them.

The series was drawn in a sort of way Henri Matisse may have done it. The episode which I remember is Pink Panther and a little dog were both hungry. They see a single donut and each tries to get it. At the end, Pink Panther is able to get it for himself. The little dog was so sad. Seeing how sad the dog was, Pink Panther breaks the donut in two and gives half to the dog.

Rick, this was a fantastic idea, there are so many classic cartoons out there. Not only the 60s, 70s and 80s (although they were some of the best), but even earlier in the 50s (anyone remember Felix the Cat?), plus the classic WB shorts from movies in the 40s and 50s later repackaged in several iterations. You have a fan here for both channels!

One of my favorites was the one where he's in a haunted Western house and the ghost keeps bothering him all night. G'day, Rick! Enjoyed the video! A Classic In Every Sense Of The Word!! Hope you don't mind, sharing some great cartoon history... "As the Pink Panther historian Jerry Beck notes, "Classic animation pretty much died in the '60s, everyone had kind of bailed out. But his creators didn't rest on their laurels. They didn't make the cartoons to look like Warner Bros. cartoons, or Disney cartoons, or the UPA look of Mister Magoo and Gerald McBoing-Boing. They came up with their own clever new style. The only other important cartoon of the '60s was Yellow Submarine." "The Pink Panther was, therefore a notable contribution to the animation art form. Top animation directors such as Hawley Pratt, Gerry Chiniquy, Robert McKimson, and Sid Marcus contributed to a distinctive style, supported by master story writer John W. Dunn. Produced after theatrical cartooning's golden age of the 1940s and 50s, they were constrained to the limited animation techniques applied to Saturday morning cartoons of 1960s and after. Within these limitations, the Pink Panther made creative use of absurd and surreal themes and visual puns and an almost completely wordless pantomime style, set to the ubiquitous Pink Panther theme and its variations by Henry Mancini. The overall approach is reminiscent of the classic silent movies of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton." "Cultural references were more muted and stylized, resulting in a cartoon with longer-term, more cross-cultural appeal not shared by contemporaries such as Yogi Bear and The Flintstones, with their greater reliance on contemporary American pop culture. The Pink Panther also remained constrained to the classic six-minute form of theatrical shorts, while contemporaries expanded into longer, sitcom-like storylines, up to a full 30 minutes of broadcast TV in the case of The Flintstones. Freleng's colleagues credit his sense of creative timing as a key element to the cartoon's artistic success. Freleng himself regarded the Pink Panther as his finest achievement and the character he most identified with, according to family and colleagues interviewed on the 2006 DVD release." By the way... The Inspector (Series) "In contrast to Inspector Clouseau, who is sometimes portrayed as completely inept, the unnamed cartoon Inspector, while prone to bad judgment, was generally competent. Humor came from the sometimes surreal villains and situations to whom the Inspector was exposed, with a healthy dose of stylized cartoon slapstick. Through these difficult circumstances, criminals often get the better of him and he must face the wrath of his ill-tempered, bullying Commissioner (based on Herbert Lom's Commissioner Dreyfus) who holds him in well-deserved contempt." In the majority of the cartoons, the Inspector usually tells Sergeant Deux-Deux, whenever Deux-Deux says "Si", "Don't say 'Sí', say 'Oui'", to which Deux-Deux would reply "Sí, I mean 'Oui'". In Reaux, Reaux, Reaux Your Boat, Deux-Deux was advised not to say "Oui-sick", but "Seasick". At a time of panic, Deux-Deux exclaims "¡Holy frijoles!", meaning "Holy beans!". Sometimes, Deux-Deux ends up as the winner, when he arrests the culprit, usually without much of a struggle, as in The Pique Poquette of Paris and Ape Suzette. While both characters bore the brunt of the slapstick, a sense of dedication to the police force and repeated attempts would achieve mixed success, as the Inspector and Deux-Deux would generally either apprehend the wanted criminal or recover the item assigned to them. In addition: Are you feeling hungry, or even nostalgic, for ants or aardvarks? We love these cartoons and had been wanting this for awhile! It reminds us of our childhood of getting up on Saturday mornings when cartoons really meant something. Amazing that John Byner voiced both characters here and that the ant was supposed to be Dean Martin and the aardvark is supposed to be comedian Jackie Mason! The Instant Hole episode is probably my favorite but all of them are great! Funny stuff! Thank you! Cheers! 😊✌🏻📺❤️
