Yup i was looking at a few at work, i work at a car dealer and just started. I was browsing for inspiration between leads and the people that were looking with me were talking about brands that look better for the money. I tried to explain how telepathic the cars feel that i was comfortable sliding the car after a half a mile at the next u turn. How Porsche 500hp is different from 500 from a mustang they did not get it. They are also confused as to why I’m in the market for too little house while everyone has half million + houses telling me i can skip the starter house with this job. Dude the starter house for you is THE house for me I’m going balls deep on cars and stocks and child free.

Rob is a REAL car enthusiast. He's right about everything he said. He's a realistic guy that knows values of cars. Sure there is obviously some speculation and sometimes flukes can happen with some cars. At the end of the day to build a dream garage it's about timing and availability. I agree with his choices too because they are pure cars that he wants. They may not be the latest or the most technologically advanced by modern super/hyper car terms but they are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. That's what a true enthusiast cares about.

Totally agree Rob - these cars are meant for driving - can make more money elsewhere - I am the second owner of my 991 GT3RS - 14000km at purchase and 3 yrs later has 80000km - both track and back roads twisties - I love the car and I drive it coz I don't care about the mounting km - it's the best car I've ever owned and I will keep it until I am put in my private cardboard box :)

That's why I went V1. Some kind soul took care of the paint for me, did a few minor upgrades, and only drove it 72k in 15 years for me to come along and swoop it up at less than one quarter the original sticker price. Now I'm having a blast in my cheap-ass cadillac waiting to upgrade the rear diff and then throw a maggie on it. Cheap stupid fun!

The moment he mentioned a “Turbo in ref around a GT3”, it was Game over!!! So best car is very subjective depending on who’s speaking and their requirements, some would say a 1967 911S(sublime, simple power and delicate, driven on throttle and feel on tiny steering with finger tips), a 73 RS a 964 C2 or rs a CGT etc etc… all down to what works for you. NB: no GT3 as ever been powered by a Turbo. 🙂

So much truth right there. I have my list too; most start with manual shift cars. I’d take a 575 manual Ferrari over a newer paddle shift car. I’d want a stick R8 over an auto one anyway, even if it makes me slower (because I won’t push it to the limits anyway). This is why I’ll replace my Boss 302 with another Boss 302 over a new GT 500. New GT 500 is auto only. Yes, faster. But isn’t the same experience.

Thanks Ed! For me my garage would be a good blend of engines and brands. I will always have a Tesla of some form for the tech. S-Class V12 before they go away, Audi/Lambo V10 because of noise. 911 GT3RS because that is my home brand. Lastly, the Urus because that’s the only car my wife ever asked me , “Hey what is that?”
