drink15 what do you think gap insurance is? Gap insurance is optional and sometimes required when taking out a loan for a car or house. You have your main insurance that covers the current book value of the car during total loss, then Gap insurance will cover the “gap” between what the book value and remaining amount owed on said loan. If he didn’t put anything down or very little down, he might owe more on his loan than what the car is worth.
@drink15
@drink15 4 жыл бұрын
@@woohunter1 Gap insurance covers you if own *more* than the car is worth. If you borrowed 10,000 but insurance will only give 8,000. Gap would cover the missing 2,000 to pay off the loan. This guy borrowed (or paid) 34,500 in 2013. The car gained value to 37,700. So the insurance paid his 37,700. Where does the gap insurance come in?

Toyota FJ: the hummer h2s' little brother chose to not do stereroids, didn't get a girlfriend, and had better grades in school, he was mocked when younger, but down the line gets a top job at a NYC firm and now and then gets visits from siblings to his manhatten apartment, with the occasional secret 'i love you most' text from mom.

I drove an H2 for a couple years and in comparison I would say the FJ (trail teams) feels much better on ice and snow. The FJ is reasonably responsive both on the throttle and steering whereas the H2 felt like driving a boat. Somehow the visibility in the FJ feels much worse than the H2. Haven't had the chance to do any FJ off-roading yet.

The "pepper grinder" shaped gear lever was supposed to be a removable, working shovel handle. Also, some of the interior lighting was supposed to be removable, and act as flashlights. The front seats were also supposed to be able to fold down flat. Last thing I remember reading, is that the entire inside of the vehicle was supposed to be waterproof, so that you could easily hose it all down without having to worry about damaging anything on the dash. The rumor is Toyota scrapped all those features to obviously keep the cost down.
@Baffi_

Being able to hose down your interior is something I don't think I could ever do no matter how much they guarantee it but removable interior lights to use as portable flashlights would have been cheap and practical for a vehicle in this category. Shovel idea not a bad idea either, just put the spade and other attachments into a custom tool bag and store under the passenger seat. Ahhh what could have been.

I'm on my second FJ and love them. Bought both new. I'm 6'4 and test drove a 4 Runner and just didn't fit in the seats in terms of shoulder room. I went with the FJ because it has a TON of interior room (at least for the driver and front seat passenger... the back seats are claustrophobic). Agreed on the windshield... I'm due for windshield #4. They get nailed by rocks and then crack. Don't forget Toyota reliability. I'm at about about 200K miles on my second one and no problems whatsoever (and it's been to the Arctic Circle and back). Awesome vehicle.

I have never heard anyone use the term 'Exchequer units' so I've no idea where you are getting that from. I guess you are thinking of the related 'Exchequer Standards': en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchequer_Standards Of course, just to add to the confusion, genuine 'English' units (i.e. for English people, as opposed to Americans) would give miles and degrees C, because that's what we largely use these days, which is of course mixed metric and imperial.

Most modern backup cameras are nice and big, sure, but you have to LOOK AWAY FROM THE MIRRORS THAT ARE DESIGNED TO BE USED TO BACK UP WITH. You can sleep flat inside the SUV when you fold the back seat and put the front seat in the forward position and the back window become a nice circulation window even when it's rain. This is like a Honda element on steroids. This car is a gem and that is why the value is incredible.

My dad had one(an '08, if I recall correctly). I lived it, but here are my most memorable takeaways: 1) It sucks to tow a boat with such a short wheelbase. 2) If you do much highway driving, you will need to replace a windshield every six months. 3) They need mid-grade or premium fuel. 4) The backseat was surprisingly spacious, more than the little back door suggests. I have never been in a factory vehicle that felt as solid and controllable in shitty, icy conditions.

What’s up with the windshields ?
@bradsimpson8724
@bradsimpson8724 Жыл бұрын
@@mikefa2442 The steep angle makes them terrible for high-speed highway driving. Every bug explodes and every rock does significantly more damage than it would with a more conventionally-angled piece of glass. No problem in town or at lower speeds off-road, but at highway speeds nothing will hit the windshirld that you don't know about. And the triple-wiper setup makes changing wiper blades(which you'll do more often because of all the bug juice) more of a hassle than a typical vehicle. Great little trucks, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy one for highway commuting/road-tripping.

They did on the rear window; it’s a 8” blade, half a normal size. I buy 16” refills and cut them in half. Toyota wants $40 for that little ass wiper blade assembly.

I live in the Southwestern part of Saudi Arabia where there's mountains and rough terrain and difficult roads.. to make it short; I can't emphasize enough how much I love this car. It is so popular here because of its reputation. It didn't stop in 2014 here, the last model was 2019 and I'm so sad. No modern car is like her; she's got this Oldschool-though-reliable-I'll do it all-I'll be with you for ever-I won't need much from you to operate, and I'm practical as fuck Rare-DNA in it. Thank you Doug for making people know about this sexy piece of Japanese engineering goodness. Note: Excuse my non-native complex sentence-making skills.
