I've a feeling they'll be seen as too tiny for that by then... I think this is the kid's ATV of 2050; the kind of toy you give them for their eighth birthday to muck about with in the back garden at their own leisure... Mum and dad will be driving REAL trucks; you know, those massive, massive dumper trucks you see in quarries. And they'll be doing it whilst texting, checking their social media feeds, running over small towns and stopping FE5 tornadoes with the space lazer rack that they've attatched to the grille.

Doug, that transmission/brake setup is standard in the commercial vehicle market, especially with airbrakes. The brake lever is either on or off, none of that ratcheting business. With the F-trucks (and their clone/competition from GM and Chrysler/Ram) you draw a line between personal and commercial as the prefix number of 1-3 are personal vehicles, 4-7 are medium commercial, like towing and box trucks, then the 8/9 are heavy-duty. Navistar-International had their XT series in the mid-2000's of comparable size, they were effectively a flop, with the exception of the MXT for military use.

I drive these and F750s for work but those are TMA crash trucks for work zones, we also use them to drop cones. Ours have a 20ft stake body with a bit more than 20,000lbs of ballast (weight) added in to the frame, in order to minimize the distance it rolls if struck at highway speeds.

I drove a Penske truck one time. it has a similar riding position to this, but its MUCH longer, 26 feet long. it was a total beast to drive. it was slow, the play on center was brutal, but it just went over anything. big pot hole? "oh, that was a pot hole?" it was actually crazy and i actually had to drive this through small city streets and i felt so huge and in charge, people keel before you in those things. honestly it makes you feel so powerful.

Ford used to have a pool of various cars from its fleet that employees at the HQ could take home for the weekend. It’s was first come first serve so all the big bosses got the Aston Martins, GT’s & Mustangs. Back when I was a kid one Memorial Day weekend my during our annual neighborhood commons clean up my dad ran back to Dearborn and got a F450 to tow out a truck that got stuck. Our commons is floodplain that’s mostly left natural but has a lawn for all the kind of things people don’t do anymore. Labor Day weekend neighborhood camp out, playing football in the summer and someone even lined a low area with clay and bought a pump to fill it with water from the creek to create a hockey rink in the winter. Well there was this mysterious spring at the top of a hill that flowed into a dry creek bed that had grassy sections for ease of access. We come to find out 20 years later was actually a culvert buried in sand and overgrown with grass over the years. This is on at the access point for vehicles sure enough some kind neighbor brought his pickup to haul dead brush out that had been piled up by all the volunteers. Well it got stuck axel deep in this ditch from a heavy rain the night before. Ironically this was when my dad was an engineer on the Windstar program he would later get transferred over to the F150 that’s another story. He got to save the day by borrowing one of the flat bed F450’s from the test driving fleet. That’s about as practical as these kind of tucks can get unless you’re a commercial operator. It still was pretty damn cool.
@vanceharmon3481

The reason for these trucks are to pull. Two friends of mine built their own. ONE of them was a Peterbilt tractor trailer. If you pull a huge boat on a trailer for long distances, even though you might have a F350 it will be a lot harder on the truck than with something like this. They don't really costs any more than a F350 in fuel. If you attempting to pull a twelve thousand pound boat six hundred miles with a F250 there's is more of a chance that something might brake.

I work for navistar. During the time we developed the international chassis based trucks. We had 3 of them completely decked out. $30,000 paint jobs. They were available to employees to use for the weekends and week days. Just jad to sign the sign out sheet. Among the first we built were sold to Jay Leno and someone else I cant remember at the time. We also put together a Harley Davidson themed truck and "gave" it to Willi G. They were suppose to talr it as a gift and let is know if they liked it and give their stamp of approval for production. He took the trick and never got back to us. Also, at that time Navistar was building the chassis and engines for Ford. Just International tricks with ford cabs. All the ford diesel engines that were junk... yep....international engines.

They are called “step 1, step 2, and step 3”. And the lowest number, “1” is the first step, then the second highest number “2” step. And finally, step “3”. It’s likely I would have tried to go 2,1,3. Or 3,1,2 and been stuck in the middle scratching my head wondering what went wrong. Very thorough great job.

Actually Doug, some of us do own ours for practical reasons. It's pur long distance rig for our shop, car deliveries, and the toy hauler, for the rock crawling rigs. Have the International for the RV, and car trailer. Both have custom wraps, as do the enclosed trailers. Part of our, meager, advertising budget. Rose, and Violaet are also tax write offs, and are always parts of events, like Convoy of Caring, Bald for Bucks at local high schools, bike nights, ect as well. As are the bikes w ehave painted or built. And both wraps are subtle, not over the top. Team colors, or blue, silver and white company info, company logo. So no. Not everyone who bought one is compensating for a small....... Some of us make money with them. And then go play with what they can carry, when it's neccessary to taie a break. Work hard. Play harder. Both are paid off, over 6 years ago, and have paid for themselves at least once in that time.
