Im glad you mentioned the C30 T5 being an experience, and not just a car. It was the same for me and mine. I helped me take modding and DIY to the next level, it helped me understand cars in general better. The C30 crew forums and my countrys local Volvo club are by far the best car communities ive ever been a part of. People always willing to help, sharing parts designs and experience and just being a bunch of decent blokes. It was not the fastest or most powerful car i ever owned, despite making around 300HP with the mods i had, but it was definately the most fun to drive and the most predictable car ive had. It tremendously simple and reliable too, you can do silly things to it and it doesnt punish you for it ( i connected my battery wrong when trying to jumpstart it and nothing got damaged ). I even had a 18 wheeler truck tyre bump me in the traffic and lift the C30 off the ground and all that happened was some plastic rivets broke. Later i had another small accident at around 40kmh and again the car had zero damage, just bounced and and a few clips in the front bumper broke, replaced them and it was good as new. I think as a parent, the C30 is one of the best cars you could ever buy for a car loving child. It will teach them so many things, it has a very family friendly non toxic community and most importantly its probably the safest 2 door hatchback ever made.

I share in your addiction. My list, using the full nomenclature to denote sedan/wagon: 1980 245 Diesel, 1982 245 DL, 1983 244 Turbo, 1984 244 Diesel, 1986 244 DL, 1990 744 Turbo, 1995 854 T-5R (Yellow)... x2!, 1995 850 (bought from my mom), 1996 854 GLT, 2006 S80 2.5t FWD, 2019 XC90 T8 Inscription. I didn't buy them in that order, of course, and many of these were at the same time.

I drive a '97 Volvo 850 GLT, I have recently got the car to stage 0, timing & acc. belts, idlers, tensioners, water pump. Love driving it so much, I'll have them bury me in it, when the time comes. Until then, I'm having fun roasting my front tires off. You guys are right. Nothing sounds like a Volvo turbo'd 5-cyl.!

V70R all the way. Nothing is cooler than a sleeper Volvo wagon with a manual transmission. The C30 is also super sweet, but as a fellow P1 owner (V50 T5 M66), I might be biased. As an addicted Volvo enthusiast, I can't really say no to any of them.

As a Volvo V70 owner, I dont agree.. Even after 150000 km I had to change brake calipers, struts, bearings, steering joints, link arms, things that should hold muuuch longer.

@@heyyo162 I have 2 volvos 2005 S60 2.5T AWD Ibought in 2011 with 110000 km .and a 2006 xc90 2.5T AWD Ibought it brand new for my wife ,she still have it and doesn't want to get another car.My S60 have now 260000 km had timing belt changed,PCV System replacement ,and Haldex AWD service, as well as brakes pods and rotors ,changing regularly the engine oil.The car runs and looks like new.My wife's xc90 have 165000 one owner just replace the timing belt and done twice haldex awd service .Of course maintenance on the engine like serpentine belt ,changing engine oil and brakes regularly .That SUV is a beast ,even after 15 years drives and looks like new! I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your volvo!

I like all your Volvos but especially I love the Volvo V 70 R. The great thing is that at some point in the future I could maybe own one myself. I still drive a XC70 (2003), WTH 230,000 km that I bought at auction in 2009 for $6,000 (C$). I have received two unsolicited offers to purchase it in the last 3 years.

I loved my V50 T5 M66 too, first turbo 5 cylinder and it was barking mad. It was so much fun, but the thing I liked the most was it was different to other cars. I enjoyed whooping German cars and they hated it. And yes, the Volvo community is the best I have experienced without fail. I love my current P2 V70 - even though not a turbo - its such an appealing car in many ways. Everyone loves a wagon. End.

I have to look back at the issues they had with the S60R, in all honesty you have to maintain R’s regardless of how many miles are on it. Personally I try and stay ahead of all potential problems with every car we own.

I daily a 2006 V70R. 150k + miles. Great family wagon. I also own a GT500 and a lot more people wants to talk about the Volvo. Colorado has a lot of Volvo fans. Crazy!

i have c30 since 2014. now i bought v70r 2003. mean time i've got V60 S60 V40 but now this two cars are my ViProjects!

I say Volvo c30 because I own a 1.6 drive e and she is a beautiful lady that makes me smile when I look at her. Your silver one is a absolute beauty and seriously we need some updates on that too. The v70R wagon is great but what makes it so great is Greg's enthusiasm that is super infections and makes you look twice.

My 2005 Volvo s60R was probably my favorite car I've ever owned and I've owned a lot of the modern sports cars. Second favorite car is probably my 18 coyote or my 18 ecoboost mustang, they are tied really, as the ecoboost is a better daily driver .

Without doubt the V70R as the most loveable. Also the C30 too! Love the Lexus and Hyundai a lot and the Mustang and the Aston. Not a fan of new BMWs at all so they don’t figure. Volvo is so appealing as it’s under the radar unlike other brands, people like the cars and not the image!

Now that you love Volvo you should find a project 850 turbo or 850r and build it out. They started the legacy. They're still on the road today. I daily drive a 94 850 wagon with almost 300k, even though I have a 2005 s40, there's nothing like that classic feel and the inline 5, you can pick them up for pretty cheap and ROBERTDIY here on KZbin has a video for everything 850!!! I have a c30 t5, I only drive on warm sunny days. Love that car, it outruns dodge chargers.

I can vouch for that, with mine on bolt on's making around 300HP at the flywheel it ran away from most V8 cars on the road at the time. Here we had the 5.7L and 6.0L LS engine Holden/Chev Commodores/Luminas and the C30 used to slowly pull away from them. You needed serious cars to beat it, things like turbo charged BMW M cars, or cars with new AMG V8s. Really its only major weakness was off the line traction due to being FWD, but once rolling very few cars from that era could pull away from it.

It's pretty nuts how capable the c30nis with some mods. In theory, if my c30 hooks (open diff being less than ideal like you said) it should have a similar quarter mile to my stock (for now) '15 Mustang gt with the 3.73 rear end. 🤯🤯

@@ShiftingLanes I have a 2018 Polestar S60 now and its only faster off the line than the C30. Rolling i think the C30 will probably be as fast or faster if doing pulls from 3rd upwards. I also have a 2016 Roush Ecoboost Mustang thats making slightly less than 380HP and over 400Lb ft and I dont think it would beat the C30 in rolling pulls either. Though I dont own that C30 anymore so i guess i wont really know for sure.
